For those who don't understand the "FGC nod": Instead of just rolling your eyes in disappointment or frustration that you got hit by something (gimmick or not), you nod to accept it to show a little respect and that you took a little mental note. "You did that and it worked".
During my time at Streamlabs so many people in marketing were reprimanded, put on PIP plans, and/or fired for speaking up against unethical business practices to the point where they basically got rid of the entire marketing team by late 2018.
The FGC is one of the oldest in competitive gaming, and grassroots tournaments have been its lifeblood. It's wild to me that Capcom is willing to hamstring TOs, weaken the competitive scene, and risk their own legacy. This ain't it.
You see shit like the blowup today and wonder "how did they do that you'd think someone in the room would have been like 'hey this is a bad idea' right?"
Right. Streamlabs fires those people for not being team players.
One thing I'm glad the FGC has mostly moved away from is settling personal arguments with ft10s, please don't start this up again. Disrespecting people isn't resolved by finding out who is better at pressing buttons, it's resolved by growing up and treating others better.
FGC isn't supposed to be a cool kids club or social ladder to climb. If you cosplay, make art, commentate, enjoy the characters, TO, like talking about the game, play competitively or casually—you're FGC. There's a lot more than 500 "real" people here dude
The FGC is really just 200-500 or so real people that actively play and engage and the rest of the scene is on lookers with weird things to say about people they wish they were.
Know your audience.
Talking with my sons in their 20s. I just found out they don’t know how to:
- do a fireball input
- do an uppercut input
- do a charge input
- do a half circle input
“Nobody in our generation does that stuff”
Y’all, this is wild.
Just me?

tbf the dude earned the right to say whatever tf he wants about SF he could look dead into phenom's phone with a straight face and say 'kimberly, lily, honda, gief, manon' and tf is anyone gonna do?
Sharing this again cuz I feel the same way still.
There's women in the FGC who have had to play their match with their abusers in the same room. It takes courage but it's asking too much. You can't ask why many of us don't want to come to events anymore if you allow abusers in.
I'm no pro or anything but I really think the most important part of getting better at fighting games is to not get discouraged on bad days.
People who are learning need to understand progress isn't linear and *everyone* has days where they feel like they're under-performing.
Man last week's topic was that fgc doesn't know how to dress, now we are saying don't over dress.
Yall please wear whatever tf you want tbh just shower.
@ZambeeGames
Dude remember when they put me in charge of the Twitchcon booth 3 weeks before the event, with no resources, and fired me immediately after for "being stubborn" about making it wheelchair accessible? Loved that.
People are goofy af for replying to a muscular woman's selfie with pictures of anime characters like "I love muscular women" lmao imagine someone responding to a male bodybuilder like "much love and respect for buff men 🥰" and sharing a pic of Goku

Already figured yall would prioritize great netcode but thank you for confirming and explaining it. This graphic is the best
Reviving this gem along with a PSA: Mandalay Bay still has this policy if you so much as open the mini fridge and tap it with your finger they'll suck $50 out of your wallet
I made a doc with other advice for Evo/Vegas first timers:
When SF6 comes out I just wanna remind players who do well in the early days that the FGC has a history of scam orgs that might approach you if you have a presence.
Consult *many* experienced people before agreeing to give those orgs anything even as little as a retweet.
I don't wanna be mean but like if you're a guy and are aggressively questioning FGC women about wanting to be left alone and not creeped on—like an adult male who doesn't understand this already and is asking for this to be explained to them—you're prob who we are talking about.
FGC needs to understand events in our community aren't run by giant companies like Riot where they have huge teams and tons of money to fuck with. EOs in the FGC are just community members who graciously put their own 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 resources on the line to make events happen.
lmao women in the community play vs their abusers, play vs their boyfriends, play vs ex-boyfriends, play on stream while getting harassed, boyfriends commentate their match, and you don't hear us with wack excuses for losing LMAO embarrassing blaming your girlfriend for your L.
Just imagine telling your FFXIV friends you won't be available in the evening cuz you have a fighting game tournament, spending 15 minutes in that tournament, crawling back online and them being like "I thought you were busy tonight" brUH
Imagine being a smash fan, loving a game with an honest to god playable versions of Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt Dog, two characters who don't even have names, and being upset about your own ignorance of SNK's amazing legacy and stellar library of characters and IPs.
The salt on the wound is how the Capcom PR person keeps talking to us like we're kindergarteners
FGC has way too many older, experienced people to fall for any of this bullshit but they're always trying some clumsy bs to get us cornered like a villain in a Hanna-Barbera cartoon
All these people shitting on FChamp who had nothing to say/forgave Mike Z: maybe at this point just own the fact you wanna dogpile people you dislike and protect friends when they do dumb shit and shutting down racism isn't actually on your mind.
Not a fan of shit like this. There's plenty of people who are lonely who aren't pieces of shit—of any gender, including men. People will tweet like this then act like they care about folks' mental health.
Since I met my bf I've never seen him happier or more excited about fighting games than he has been in the past couple days. Dude is leaping out of bed in the morning to go play, I can hear him in the living room slamming buttons and laughing. More games should have rollback.
Texas Showdown isn't safe for women, this response spells that out loud and clear.
These incidents happened over a year ago and no action was taken by the TO, the person who had the power and ***responsibility*** to make the event safer.
THIS is really why women stay away from offline events & locals.
We gotta wear cameras on us to “prove” someone sexually touched, harassed, & threatened us. Despite multiple victims with no connections AND filing police reports.
Great way at keeping people “safe” 😘
@the_diabeasty
Trust me I know 😂 The craziest part is people act a lot like being competitive doesn't overlap with playing the game for fun as well. It is fun to compete, and play serious/push yourself (and ultimately win)! Those things are fun too.
I wanna be crystal clear if I talk about "old fgc" I'm referring, very specifically, to when it wasn't afflicted with content creator brainrot and the goal was the games and hyping eachother up, not "what's in it for my personal brand"
Maybe I'm stupidly optimistic, but I'm hoping Evo—with its size, reputation, and viewership—being held online this year might embarrass companies into improving online play for their "modern" and upcoming games.
I'm wearing my Evo 2012 shirt (the bright ass orange one) getting water in our office building and some guy gestured to my shirt and asked me if I knew what Evo was.
I said no.
Why do people always get KBBQ after FGC events? When will you guys ever fucking switch it up. Like instead of always getting that shit for dinner, for once in your fucking life get KBBQ before the event instead. Try something different smh.
