Winner announced on Monday 22nd July... good luck!
I’m never one to shy away from heart and health issues, and my baby boy collapsed at school this morning. Syncope is one of the symptoms of my heart disease, and it can be hereditary. Myself, I can cope with. My kids? Breaks my heart 💔
This is one of those major milestones for any author, but particularly a debut… the box opening! And I had to have my babies involved. So happy I could almost cry xx
This is a VERY brave boy who is on his way home! Thanks everyone for your well wishes - book people really are the best people (vasovagal syncope, for those wondering) xxx
Slightly off topic, but what age do you let your kids get their ears pierced? 7 year old has just bought magnetic earrings, and is beginning to ask about getting them done properly…
There are so many people I'm looking forward to meeting at Harrogate this weekend - I'll be the one in the baseball cap and shorts, thinking it's all a dream and with a gormless smile on my face!
So… tonight has been the
@HarperCollinsUK
summer party, and what a wonderful evening. About halfway through, I went for a little wander and found a quiet spot where I sat, watched, and took it all in. 1/4
Career progress: Joined the police at 18, heart blew up, retired at 29, bought coffee shop on the beach, had kids, sold coffee shop, now writing full time. It’s been quite the… **shudders when using the word**… journey!
Had never met
@gbpoliceadvisor
before this weekend. Bumped into each other at KX where we were both waiting on trains. Long story short - the bloke is an absolute legend. Took me under his wing, made it all easy, an all round good bloke. Him and
@policecommander
are rockstars!
One week until publication… **This is not a drill**
I can’t wait to get AFTER THE STORM out into the world and to see it in the hands of readers…
I’m almost tearing up at the thought of it!
Pre-order link is in bio, and it is SO appreciated 🙂
**COVER REVEAL**
This is a big day for me... Fourteen years ago, I died twice and had to retire from the police when I was still in my 20's. I really didn't think that my dodgy heart would still be ticking, nor that I'd have something like this to shout about. Proud. ❤️💙
Two children went into the sea. Only one came out alive...
We’re so excited to reveal the cover for After the Storm, a gripping and emotional debut crime novel from
@gdwrightwrites
publishing on the 1st August.

Hey
#WritingCommmunity
Great to see so many people doing intros on here!
I’m Gaz, and my debut is being released on 1st August… it’s called AFTER THE STORM and I wrote it after being diagnosed with an incurable heart disease.
Happy to chat all things books and hearts!
And there they are! So chuffed with how they look, how they feel and how they... Smell!? Because who DOESN'T love the smell of freshly struck books, right!?
Competition for an advance copy coming very soon...
Incredibly excited about my first book signing, at Waterstones Thanet on Saturday 3rd August (from 13:00).
Another bucket list item ticked! Hope to see you there, if you’re local to me 🙂
What an evening. What an amazing, awesome, wonderful, life-affirming evening. It was everything I thought it would be, and more. Thanks
@HarperCollinsUK
and
@AvonBooksUK
- this was one for the memory bank xx fin.
It was just a tragic accident…wasn’t it?
Cleverly written and filled with tension, AFTER THE STORM by
@GDWrightWrites
is an emotional and compelling read. Fantastic writing that kept me gripped until the last page. I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OUT 1 Aug.
Tonight, sitting there amongst so many wonderful and amazing authors, I couldn’t help but think back to those dark days when I genuinely thought I had nothing left in front of me, when my heart had gone bang and when life seemed like it was a black canvas with no light. 3/4
What an absolute rollercoaster ride of a book. Reminding me of Broadchurch, with its small town feel & its taut, propulsive plot, After The Storm is truly gripping. Bloody well done

What Olly are you talking about? Because the Durham batsman / keeper (who we at Kent cricket shockingly let go) is going to be the next big thing…
Is this open to people who FEEL like they’re over 50, and for whom a walking stick would take some slack off burdensome knees, and who have been follically challenged since their 20’s.? Asking for a friend.
I’ve always wanted to be a published author. More than any of the other stuff, I’ve always had this little dream of walking into Waterstones, finding my book, signing a copy without any fanfare, and walking out. That - for me - was always what I wanted. 2/4

Nothing wrong with a DNF - and if there is something constructive to go with it, then all the better. Got to have the skin of a rhino to be an author ;-) xx
Florence and Sully are LOVING their sudoku with my dad. I can remember, many moons ago, when my Grandad used to give me The Funday Times every Sunday, and I’d read it in his summerhouse. Hope my babies will always remember the fun times with their grandparents!
Favourite story: GB and I walk out of Harrogate train station, both looking at our phones for directions. Take his advice and immediately walk in the wrong direction. My phone says it’s the other way. GB’s words: ‘I do strategy, you do logistics’. Typical chief-superintendent 😂
Jeeeeeez…. What a book
@jennieg_author
has written! It deserves all the plaudits it’s getting, and more. TLOST will be winning awards, and quite rightly so 👌
Just taken delivery of a copy of this fantastic novel by
@GDWrightWrites
@avonbooks
- with hints of Broadchurch, AFTER THE STORM is compulsive, tense reading with fantastic characterisation. I loved it! (Also, Gary himself is a great follow on here)
