On this day 17 years ago, Ryukishi went to Comiket 62 with 100 self-produced CDs of Higurashi - Onikakushi in tow. They were sold for roughly 98 cents each, with the promise that future chapters would be free if you mailed him your impressions on what you read.

@Asko_Ass @brickpot The Answer Arc of Umineko is SPLIT in Japan. But leading side have mostly been the negative. Granted Ryukishi07 did say this: "Umineko is a story that cannot be understood/read by someone who never been in a relationship" Imagine saying this to people after a mix reception.

The infamously bad music mixing in Higurashi's early arcs is the result of Ryukishi running the soundtrack through "free software" he found online, which heavily distorted the songs. Dai, future 07th Expan. composer, first contacted Ryukishi because he "obviously needed help".

Since people have been asking for it, here's a handy reference card for the 07th Expansion "TWIWMTBR" order! I don't think this is the perfect way to watch the series or anything, but I do hope it gives 07th fans old and new a new way to look at and enjoy the series
