Another insisted on staging a violent rape scene which was specifically meant to happen off stage in the play, so graphic that another student had to leave the room each time it happened because it gave her PTAD panic attacks, and, used 'hypnosis' as a rehearsal method!

Just want to be clear that I think this is a prolific, UK wide industry issue. I'm not here to fire shots at a particular school, this is a pervasive system we use to train artists to 'say yes' and it felt 'normal' at the time. Not right. But normal.

So shaken by the total easing of restrictions that many were navigating well. Terrified for what this means for disabled and vulnerable friends and fam who will be left behind. Scared for an industry so desperate to come back it will inevitably leap to compromise safety.

ARTS ORGS: Things that r the law: - 11 hour resting period in 24 hrs - 24 consecutive hours rest in 7 days, normally following on from 11-hour rest - 6 hours = 20 min rest MIN ALL actors are workers no matter how u contract them because they turn up + leave at the times u dictate

Said once, twice, maybe 17 times. I don't know the answer, but I do know that we need to question an industry (I include myself heavily) that requires disabled/neurodiverse people, or any minority, to out themselves in order to be validated in making their work. It is damaging.

Intense pressure to 'name and shame' in replies/ my DM's is so unhelpful/ insensitive, and totally misses the personal/ professional risk and cost of voicing anything difficult in an online space. It also scapegoats this as an individualistic issue, rather than a systemic one.

Plotted in an hour of acclimatisation time for Rach to see the set and get used to being in the theatre - all sensitively held in case of overwhelm. She walked in, sat straight at her desk & went 'I'm ready, 3, 2, 1 go!' So that's that sorted. Now to get everyone else ready 😅

best stage direction I ever had was working on a young company show with £500 design budget and it said 'the entire sky opens and rains multicolour raindrops'. (We put kids in the lighting rig armed with hundreds of ping pong balls in a massive bucket - it was magic!)

FYI run number 2 was a real killer bump back to reality. My legs did continue to move in forwards directions but they hurt and went slower. My lungs continued to breathe but owwwwwwy. I accidentally ran at Lewisham College lunchtime aka 15yo's everywhere. But I ran! #CouchTo5k
