Took an hour and went to a land sale today, hoping it wouldn’t be desireable to most. 83 acres total, ~30 tillable. House and buildings needed a dozer. $1,225,000 took it. I’m still not sure where to get one of these fancy pencil sharpeners.

Needed planter parts today. Nearest dealer I knew was 3 hours. Quick search found one 45 min. Guy answers from the tractor, gives an address, sends me to his shop. Call when I get there, he walks me to the parts I need says he’ll invoice me when he gets time, just leave an email

If I only farm 100 acres, and I have time to hyper manage it and push yields to extremes, why shouldn’t I? If I farm 10000 acres, I need to manage time better than micro nutrient levels. And now I’m going back to scrubbing mud off pumpkins.

3 days into a vegetable conference and I’m reminded of “that won’t work”. There’s a steep learning curve to no-tilling produce crops, and I’m certain I’m less than half way up it, but every crop does not have to start with a roto-tiller and plastic layer.

As someone who lived through a messy divorce I wouldn’t wish it on any child. There’s a lot of weekly handoffs in our parking lot. I’m glad. It’s safe. There’s cameras. I know how hard that situation is. not much cuts me like hearing a kid cry from the shed.

FIL- we turned down a test run on a new combine for fall. Me- a $17 part broke on the only tractor I use daily that’s 24 years old and it’ll be next Tuesday till it runs and my chiropractor is on vacation I love my in laws. They’re great people. Its often hard to relate
