@RAbdiAnalyst One of the most shocking acts of individual barbarity in the whole Tigray war was the execution of the former Ethiopian FM Seyoum Mesfin. There is something seriously awry with any culture that could look a 71 year old man in the eye, and shoots him in the head.

@bwdn2008 @AfricanHub_ Every West African should apologise to you for the pain inflicted on your ancestor. Whites were terrified of the African interior and stayed on the coast. Africans captured other Africans and brought them to the slave traders. It is an African shame, as much as white shame.

This is the Ethiopian Prime Minister sending a message of solidarity to the victims of the #HargeisaFire . It will be great to receive offers of support from other African leaders, particularly from @PaulKagame Rwanda is the only country that takes urban H&S seriously

@ForeignOfficeKE @AbabuNamwamba The two have great deal in common. They are the only democracies in the region and share historic links going back at least a century. They shared everything from currency to national curriculum for 50 years and Somaliland Kenyan community has deep roots in Kenya

@RAbdiAnalyst And it looks his ally and mentor Mr Afwerki has abandoned Abiy to his fate, having masterfully achieved his strategic goal of weakening Ethiopia so fundamentally that it poses no threat to his country for the forseeable future.

Worst case scenario: 1. Egypt and Turkey pour arms to Somalia 2. It buys more from North Korea and China 3. West does nothing 4. Somaliland gets forced to seek support from Russia and Iran 4. Bab-el Mandab gets shut 5. Egypt's economy sinks; prices inflation goes up across Europe

Ethiopia sent its highest level delegation to Somaliland in 30 years. Ministers of Transport and Finance attended the inauguration of the first phase of the enlargement of Berbera port by @DP_World . Has Addis at last recognised the strategic importance of Berbera and Somaliland?
