I remember the group of girls at the university dorm party that my friend and I went to at 16 with our 22 year old dates, swarming us in a protective huddle and not allowing them to talk to us for the rest of the night. Quality women, who I hope have had amazing lives.
My anti-vax truck driver brother was forced to get his shots because his route went over the border. He didn’t try to make his problem into a supply chain problem. He put on his big boy pants and got it done. His only side effect was a paycheque.
My daughter told me they had a full school Xmas assembly today with no air purifiers and closed doors today, so she told her teacher she was allowed to skip it as it didn’t feel safe. She told me at lunch pick up and I’m very proud of her risk assessment skills.
I was contacted by an ODSP employment provider in Ontario who asked me to help get a message out about Ford's privatization of our social services and healthcare, so they could be anonymous. It's important and will be a big thread. These are their words:

They explained a lot of things to us that saved us many future experiences. So turned out well and we were thrilled to be hanging out with the girls more than the obviously gross guys who brought us. They made us call my mom too.
We promised to bring beer/wine to convenience & grocery stores.
We’re delivering on that promise!
Starting no later than Jan 1, 2026, you’ll be able to buy beer, wine, cider & ready-to-drink alcohol beverages at convenience, grocery & big box stores

kiosks in libraries, community centres and city halls and paying the municipality to install them instead of inaccessible private businesses. Also, properly fund municipalities.
I keep a pack of N95’s in my car for appointments and just gave one to the teenager who brought my curb side groceries as he was in a half ripped cloth mask.
@loblawco
you can afford to provide PPE to your staff. You should be held responsible for employee safety. JFC. 😒
That is the whole point of puberty blockers. You give kids the time to consider their choices and prevent the need for surgical interventions later on. When you go off the blocker, puberty starts again. We should protect kids from politicians pretending they are doctors.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he's against the use of puberty blockers for children, saying "we should protect children and their ability to make adult decisions when they're adults."
When you are thinking about a

in your list of concerns. People “live” on a lot less, are at risk for homelessness and deserve to have safety/food. They currently need all of us, pushing together to make

fix it.
Was just told that a person on ODSP who was about to lose their funding died by suicide as they would have become homeless. Why do we do this to people? We need a guaranteed livable income right now. Every life is valuable. 😞
been figuring out what approach / messaging to take that would be ‘acceptable’ to Canadians with the intent of cutting our services. They became non profit agencies in Canada. So they can call themselves “Canadian” non profits. Our tax payer money is paying them to chip away
"People need to know what’s’ going on behind the scenes as they have vague notions about privatization with healthcare and social services but they don’t understand the how this is happening and where it’s coming from. Ford 2 years ago brought in American companies who have
at our healthcare and social service systems. We will wind up being paid huge tax dollars to then to have our services be made minimal and virtually nonexistent. They are calling it privatization – but it is privatization with these companies as the decision makers.
Ford has opened the door for these are American companies coming into Canada-acquiring non profit status here & making huge amounts from tax payer’s money & allotting a small stipend of it for us to have our social & health services & to the mentally ill & poverty stricken & ill"
These companies are really good marketers/sales people and know how to make things “look and feel” good.The tip of the Iceburg is that they are transferring ODSP employment assistance and supports to help people on ODSP find and maintain employment. They are moving this from
from Social Service to the ministry of labour colleges and universities....going from region to region switching these services over to be ‘managed’ by these companies – making huge profits from this with ODSP and OW’s employment supports. They are paying our agencies assisting
My kid was in a rainbow STEM day camp all week. At the start of the week none of the young staff were in masks. I explained our high risks & asked if they would mind masking indoors. They all enthusiastically agreed and took the N95’s I offered. Got them all gift cards today. ❤️
these clients less than ODSP paid has done and I assume taking the rest of our hard earned tax dollars. They are distracting the job developers and counsellors working with the clients looking for work with at least double the administrative work and have put in place an alga
rhythms so one agency cannot share a client with another agency – even though they may have different expertise and ways to support and help the client with obtaining employment. So why is Ford doing this??? There is no advantage to the tax payer – there are huge disadvantages –
@jessica_jnd9
She masks all day long, takes her snack outdoors and has told a teacher who suggested she take off her mask for a photo no. We both have high risk disabilities, I have a lung disease and she’s not messing around. Super proud of her.
This has grown beyond my comment policing time availability. So play nice, get vaccinated if you medically can, wear a mask and advocate for safety for disabled and immune compromised people. Have a good day and stay safe.
I met a woman at the door today whose husband has cancer and was in the hall for 16 hours with a paramedic, waiting for care because you won’t fix healthcare. But yeah, cookies.
Smile Cookies at back at Tim Hortons. Starting today until Sept 25, you can pick up a smile cookie for only $1.00. Proceeds go directly to local charities.

My indigenous friend said that the federal gov should give all Catholic church land to the Native People so they can charge rent and property tax as reparations that go directly to their communities. Seems like a good plan to me.

should have assembly protocols. There’s no reason they can’t roll air purifiers into a gym, and have an outside door open to make this safer if they insist on having all class events.
Freedom to get sick, disabled or die. Freedom to get others sick, make them disabled or die. Freedom to overwhelm the healthcare system and cost us piles in taxes. Freedom to disrupt work and school with mass illnesses. Glorious freedom.
So it seems the ableists and minimizers have found this while I was sleeping. Block, rinse, repeat folks. Name calling disabled families for protecting themselves and others for caring about society and their health is a look. 👀
I asked my kid's principal if there would be CO2 monitors in the classroom next year, & if not could I purchase 1 for my daughter to bring with her so teachers would have a way to know if they need to open windows & the board told him no to both. Why

I’m having a disability discrimination burnout moment. Would love to be able to do literally anything other than fight for my survival and access for just one day.
Removing funding for paxlovid, community testing, wastewater testing and also not funding hospitals properly. The Ford government is making disastrous choices for public health.
Deeply disappointed to learn that funding has been cancelled for the wastewater surveillance program in Ontario.
This has been critical information not only for COVID-19, but other infectious disease threats (Influenza, RSV, MPox, Polio & now H5N1) in Ontario.
As a parent whose child uses her phone as an accessibility device in class, in a school not funded well enough to provide her with a chrome book because of provincial cuts, this is hugely wrong.
@a_h_reaume
My latest ex still plays video games online with my daughter and babysat her outside during the pandemic once while I was doing medical tests. He was my friend before we dated and I’m glad we stayed friends after. So nice your ex is great.

Can disabled people, parents, healthcare workers and anyone else who doesn’t want another Covid wave and endless variants do a class action against Ford for removing protections before vaccines are available for all and hospitals are over surgery backlogs?
Your family in LTC being neglected, folks on OW and ODSP starving unable to afford delivery services and rent, kids in crowded unventilated classes and no provincial sick days. But money for horses because MPPs families have horses.

Single parents are allowed one friend during lockdown. I met a mom in a LTGBQ kids parents group online and we clicked. We planned an outdoor masked playdate for the kids and she asked if she could bring gloves to help me with my yard work, and you guys! 😭 She’s so nice!
Today is the day my youngest daughter was born and died. Every year I scatter some of her ashes, and go on an adventure with my eldest. This year she swims in the river. My love to all the folks with forever babies and children. ♥️
It is truly upsetting that a member of the disabled community has been lost due to not being able to access enough supports to live. How many lives will it take until our provincial government properly funds disabled people in poverty and healthcare access?
With great sadness, we lost a supporter in Ottawa. She has been struggling with surviving on disability supports and the toll it took on her mental health. She recently faced eviction and left us. Rest well in peace, Erin

proposing the $2200 a month for their disability benefit to be started right away. National pharmacare! Carla has no poker face. Looked like she ate a lemon during this part.

I stopped celebrating Canada Day after the news where we began finding the bodies of kids who were forced into residential schools on their grounds. Instead I reflect on the effects of colonialism, pick a local Indigenous group to support, & work in my garden to honour the land.
Forced institutionalization of disabilities is bad & will be abused. The “let’s force treatment on people” crowd should look up waitlists for the current free services (if any) & supportive housing options. Most people didn’t become “severe” because help was ample & easy to get.
When we focus on LTC as being seniors, we fail to notice Ford has been targeting disabled people of all ages since his election. Autism program, ODSP, human rights changes, axing UBI, LTC, all are attacks on disabled people. Vote out Conservative eugenics policies.
Wheelchairs are essential in providing mobility and part of our efforts to increase accessibility, we are funding projects like this ramp at

The NDP’s ODSP 20%⬆️ is $1402.80 a month, $16,833 a year and below the poverty line. The Liberal UBI pilot Ford killed in 2018 was $16,989 a year with an extra $500 a month ($6k/year) for disabled people. $22,989 a year is just shy of $2k a month. This is the min for survival.
So just to recap the 'logic' of mad people:
1. Caring about health (even if high risk for viruses) is a mental illness.
2. It’s okay to be a jerk about mental illness.
3. If all your friends jump off a cliff, but you don’t, you are riddled with fear & anxiety.
Also one kid must have told their caregiver(s) because they showed up in a mask on the 2nd day. (No other kids were masked.) When people care about others in their community it makes the world a better place. Thank you to the kid and adult(s), you are appreciated.
The disability tax credit asks all the wrong questions because it’s not designed for or to help disabled people. It’s to help the families of disabled people.
(It helps some disabled people, but not by design.)
What can you do? Call Ford/CPC MPPs & be mad. Call NDP/Liberal/Green & tell them to mount legal defences. Call federal & ask for healthcare protection laws put into
@CdnHumanRights
. Call
@Ont_Ombudsman
for more investigations. Indigenous groups might have data laws to lean on.

for work for lip reader accessibility/photo ops so figured I’d do a review as they are pricey. (PJs not included) It has 99% filtration, work the best with glasses than any I’ve tried and is the most comfortable and best fit.
8. Calling a child names is totally acceptable, but not attending an assembly is the worst.
9. If you don’t go to one event, you are clearly being denied all socialization.
10. Pronouns & personal safety choices are meltdown level triggering, but we’re the snowflakes.
Because it’s super easy to get a job when you can’t afford work clothes, have no access to a shower and have no address to put on your application. (For the mythical people living in tents who are capable of working.)
Ford today on encampments: "If ... you're physically capable, mentally capable of working, folks, you should be working. Simple as that. Because it's not up to these hard-working people to take care of capable people that should be working... There's no more excuses."
#onpoli
If you’re donating to food banks or drives, PLEASE remember to buy gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, soy-free and corn-free options. Also diabetic friendly and low fodMap foods. Many disabled people cannot eat what you donate.
4. Fear is not an important evolutionary trait that keeps us from dying a lot.
5. An 11 year old with zero F’s & resolve of steel, who stands up to adults, must be living with internal terror.
6. Wanting your mom to live is a character flaw.
7. Employers prefer you sick.
11. It's the parents choice, unless that choice is not the same one that you would make.
12. Human rights legislation is not a thing.
13. Disabled kids should be homeschooled, but also set free.
14. Statistics and science are hard, so we should yell at people instead of nap.

do your job, we are in crisis. Withholding healthcare funding and safety measures so your buddies can have privatized businesses is horrifying.

As a neurodivergent hypermobile woman, I really wish she had gone that route instead. Because I’m all sorts of annoyed about what this will do to the non-verbal community.
@m_layton
This is ableist AF. Many people, my daughter and I included, have gastro intestinal issues and do not always have advanced warning of needing the toilet. Are people to leave their babies in full diapers? Are folks with incontinence to stay in theirs? No one chooses homelessness.

They didn’t try to shame us, so maybe it was approach? They called the guys out and said we should go have fun with them instead, gave us big sister advice and after we were there for a while they said we needed to call a parent so they knew we were getting home safe.
So there it is.
@OntarioNDP
has it at 20% raise of ODSP the first year and doubling the second and indexed to inflation after that. Hoping that means $1403 turns into $2806 the second year, but will have to wait for clarification. Unclear from the announcement.
We got notice that my kids physical school has *just* been given funding for covid ventilation upgrades from the Ontario government. In any other job, this level of ineptitude would have you fired into the sun.

Thinking back we must have looked like foetuses in ripped jeans to them because one asked how old we were and who brought us fairly quickly. Another yelled at the guys too. I wish I could thank them.
If you were pro-life, you would vote for UBI, true universal healthcare, fair wages, accessible housing, environmental reform, reconciliation, disability funding, and so on. This is about control. Go honk about that.
Shocking how having one meal a day, endless stress, bad living conditions in inaccessible homes, no access to house cooling or physical therapies hasn’t helped anyone on ODSP get well. Maybe try actually helping people
@fordnation
? Put money into healthcare and ODSP/OW?
Got my medical review back from ODSP, took me 2 days to open it. Still disabled 😕
After being disabled 10 years, I thought for sure that the pandemic and our crumbling healthcare + the never ending extreme poverty forced on disabled people would have cured me by now.
@undersiaspell
@Sia
Alina you need a neurodivergent friend to stop you from posting these things. You’re being several types of wrong right now and need to step aside and listen to disabled people.
Apparently “acceptable” actions like kidnapping disabled people, confining them, jailing them without trial and forcing them to undergo physical procedures without consent is only made so when you have guns and power. That’s not progressive, that’s tyranny.
The progressive, NDP government is now implementing compassionate involuntary care for those with serious mental health, and/or addictions. “You have to have some boundaries in society for human conduct.”
The only way to make the sign up process for the Disability Benefit reasonable is to change the DTC eligibility to automatically allow anyone on provincial disability support to qualify with proof of benefits. The monthly amount is still only 10% of the min needed though.
I know too many people considering medically assisted death because provincial support won’t cover their medical needs, rent and food. People who could live long full lives. You can fix this

I tweet once about a Youtube copyright violation and I get contacted by many reporters. I tweet constantly about disability rights violations and get crickets. Nice we all have priorities.
