I’d say. Long thin pastas e.g spaghetti, linguine, vermicelli are best for light/oil based sauces. Long thick pasta, shells e.g tagliatelle, fettuccine, conchigle are best for heavy, meat based sauces. Tubes e.g macaroni, rigatoni for cheese sauces or heavy meat/veg sauces
