Very excited to be selected to be part of the 6th cohort of the Jo Cox Women in Leadership Programme!
Thank you for this fantastic opportunity
@LabourWomensNet
Extremely proud to have graduated as part of cohort 6 of the Jo Cox Women in Leadership Programme today! An incredible group of feminist leaders from across

@LabourWomensNet
#jocoxleadership
Graduates! 🎓 Congratulations to Cohort 6 of the
#JoCoxLeadership
Scheme who’ve graduated with flying colours today! Hailing from across the
@uklabour

“It’s not just lives they are after it’s livelihood” this is the message of
@hzomlot
speaking to Senedd members today. It was an honour to hear the Ambassador from Palestine to the UK today talk about how we can support the people of Palestine.
#FreePalenstine
Sexual harassment is so prevalent in politics that we have discovered someone within OVM has been perpetrating it. Organisations trying to fight this behaviour are not immune from people trying to platform themselves as allies.
I rarely speak out directly against the party but what the fuck is this
insane normalisation of shitty research and transphobia. this is not who we are.
The Cass Review must be a watershed moment for the NHS’s gender identity services.
My response for
@UKLabour
underlining our support for the Cass Review’s evidence-led recommendations and our determination to put children’s health and wellbeing above the political fray 👇🏻
One of our strengths as an organisation is being cross party. This is a serious issue in all parties and we’re proud of have representation across the political spectrum coming together to fight sexual harassment in politics.
Last week we delivered our open letter to the HQ’s of the Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, and the Green Party, to demand the end of sexual harassment in politics.
@RishiSunak
Do you not agree that
#WestminsterIsBroken
?
What an honour to be at the
@UKLabour
launch in Abergavenny today, talking about the six steps for change in Wales and the UK. Great to see
@Keir_Starmer
and
@PrifWeinidog
I attended Welsh Labour Women’s Conference today and was disgusted to be greeted by TERFs at the door pretending to be event organisers and forcing flyers on to people as they entered the event. TERFs have no place in feminist or women’s spaces.
This incident took place over 2 years ago and we have been kept in the dark about it. Announcing it on budget day was a deliberate attempt to suppress the story. Sexual harassment is a stain on our politics and we must demand better.
A politician is to be banned from the Senedd for six weeks after he was found to have inappropriately touched and swore at two women while he was drunk on a night out
It’s often not the MPs who read abusive and threatening emails it’s their staff. Their staff who cannot afford to quit over single issues no matter how they might feel. Their staff who don’t “need to have a thick skin”, they are just doing their jobs helping constituents.
As an advocate for music and entertainment venues as well as a regular clwb goer, I am grateful for the space Owen John Thomas created and very sad to hear of his passing.
Owen John Thomas., former Assembly Member and founder of Clwb Ifor Bach passed away peacefully this morning after a long illness.
The following statement has been issued on behalf of the family by his son Hywel Thomas:
My father, Owen John Thomas, passed away peacefully this
It was tough to watch the resignation statement this afternoon, so grateful to Mark for his steadfast, considerate, and remarkable leadership through the hardest period many of us have lived through. Diolch o galon
@MarkDrakeford
Young women cannot be expected to enter and engage with politics when we are silenced. What is the point of having women’s spaces and open forums for discussion if no young people are included?
Those criticising
#Seneddreform
& increase in MSs might want to train their sights on
@HouseofCommons
where MPs have been sent home early on several occasions recently due to lack of business. Equally astonishing is more than 100 MPs have no committee or other roles to fulfil.
It was great to meet with
@mollyfentonx
today to discuss The Brain Tumour Charity and their new strategy as well as the excellent results work she is doing with
@LoveYourPeriod1
diolch Molly!!
Happy Pride Month!
This year it is especially important for reiterate our support for our trans friends whose identities are used as a political point scorer far too much.
LGBTQ+ people stand together in Wales.

This is the company that has branded itself as “edgy” and “anti-establishment”. Nothing “edgy” about underpaying your staff. Hospitality staff already face low pay and poor working conditions.
£7 a pint but they can’t pay their workers.
#boycottbrewdog
🚨BREAKING 🚨
@BrewDog
have written to their workers telling them that they will no longer be paid the *real* living wage from April with the rate being removed for new starts with immediate effect.
We wonder whether this will feature in the new film about the company?
It’s our favourite weekend of the year! Graduation weekend of the
#JoCoxLeadership
Scheme, also known as feminist political Christmas❤️ Lots of
@UKLabour
sisters standing for Parliament in this room & plenty more leading change in other amazing ways

I have generally not publicly commented on the leadership contest but since voting closes tomorrow; I am pleased to be supporting
@Jeremy_Miles
to be our next FM. He is an excellent candidate who will work collaboratively for all of Wales.
just a rare personal moment from me to say that female friendships are the most incredible thing ever. my two best friends brought me flowers, soup, bread, oranges, and an easter egg this afternoon because I’m unwell. women are amazing and I’m so lucky to have amazing friends ❤️
We know universities are deliberately failing victims of sexual assault and harassment. From deleting data, not recording reports and not acting on reports - we need a serious overhaul of the system and to hold universities to account for their actions.
I strongly support this petition and urge everyone to sign it. BMI is inaccurate and harmful and creates a culture of weight comparison that leads to eating disorders. It does not benefit children, if actively harms them.
It’s a Saturday and that means canvassing!
Great to be out on the doors today with
@CARYoungLabour
for Waheeda (Abdul) Sattar ahead of the Grangetown by-election this Thursday!!
Alex has been a fantastic support for me drawing from her experience in the British Army. She is an absolutely incredible role model for young women and will make an amazing MP.
It was great to join this CPG and hear about lived experiences in eating disorder care in Wales. Eating disorders affect us, our friends and family members and I was so pleased to see some of the work being done to support those involved.
We held our Cross-Party Group for Eating Disorders during
#EatingDisorderAwarenessWeek
along with
@beatED
& Deputy Minister for MH
@lynne_neagle
🙏Thanks to all who attended and shared their lived experience so we can continue to improve care across Wales.
So glad to be part of this amazing team. Sexual harassment is a huge issue within politics and we cannot ignore it any longer.
Please sign our open letter to start making a difference today.
It is clear that there is a culture of abuse and sexual misconduct in political parties.
Sign our open letter now, spread the word, and join us in taking action against sexual harassment ✊
This is a dangerous and hateful move from a transphobic Tory government. Now more than ever we need a Labour UK government. 94% of trans people have considered suicide, we must protect our trans kids 🏳️⚧️
Our gender questioning guidance:
🔹 Protects single-sex spaces
🔹 Ensures parents are involved in decisions affecting their children
🔹 Makes it clear that safety and safeguarding for all children must always be schools’ primary concern

It was a privilege to attend a visit today with
@MarkDrakeford
in his constituency on the last day before the leadership announcement.
Diolch a galon Mark!
Welsh Labour Women’s Conference gave platform to anti trans hate groups. The chair failed to call on any young women wishing to speak and instead recycled through the same 10 or so older women and a group of TERFs. Young women were deliberately ignored and silenced.
It’s terrifying and dystopian that Israel have chosen to attack Rafah tonight while the media is distracted by the Met Gala. It is not the first time they have used a big event to distract from their crimes. Do not let them distract you. All eyes on Rafah.
@Dunadan9
It’s obviously not the case that they had to parachute someone, plenty of local activists put themselves forward. It was a deliberate choice by the party to give the seat away.
#InternationalWorkersDay
emerged out of the struggle for an 8-hour day.
So many of the rights we enjoy, from weekends to health and safety, we owe to the labour movement.
#MayDay
reminds us of the power workers have when they’re united. Join a union today and get organised ✊🏽
As a recent graduate in Wales I have to ask, what on earth are universities spending their money on? It sure as hell isn’t quality teaching or student wellbeing and experience.
Today’s Western Mail column examines redundancies in higher education in
#Wales
, the potential for mergers in Welsh universities and the need for the
@SeneddCymru
or
@WG_Education
to undertake an urgent inquiry into the state of the sector
We have a Labour MP who has actively denied Nazi crimes, in Germany this is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment. In the UK Labour Party it’s allowed.
Before anyone says she’s right, here’s what the Museum of Jewish Heritage say
So glad to have been calling for
@JackieJonesWal1
our amazing Labour and Co-op candidate for Ceredigion Preseli in the next GE yesterday. Some hugely positive feedback for an incredible candidate.
I am excited to announce my pledges to become your next Welsh Young Labour Chair.
Being a member from a young age, I want to further improve our party so it is one we are proud of.
It’s so important that we have someone who is vocal so inequalities are expelled from society.
Younger people using the term queer are fully aware of its history, that’s what makes it a reclaimed slur. It’s also an identity. Within the community we should not be trying to police each others identities and this article during pride month leaves a sour taste at best.
‘In today's age of ‘raising awareness’ and the unearned badge-wearing victim, whoever wishes to use the term queer can crack on, but I’m personally out’ ✍️Stephen Price
Receiving an unreal amount of abusive emails about the 20mph introduction. Including threats to never vote Labour again. Over a 10mph change in the speed limit. No sense of reality about the positive impact it will have or that Labour have had more widely.
Not only this but caseworkers are responsible for finding people housing, helping with benefit forms, helping get children into schools, helping families with immigration issues etc. If we are all forced to leave our jobs over single issues, none of the constituents are helped.
a lot of the MP/staff safety discourse misses an acknowledgement that most people don't have the economic privilege to leave their job, even if they disagree with things within it. Don't place this huge expectation on people who, like most, need a job to pay their bills
The First Minister of Wales has called for an urgent meeting with Rishi Sunak about Tata Steel in Port Talbot.
The Welsh Government has told the BBC that Number 10 says the Prime Minister isn't "available to take a call on Tata" amid up to 3,000 job losses + knock on effects.
Our valentines movie of choice tonight was Belfast. I’d seen it before, Nick hadn’t. Still made me sob at the end. Humanising conflict and exploring the stories of families and communities remains extremely important.
I am horrified by the decision of the Labour Party to threaten shadow ministers who vote for a ceasefire tonight. A complete failure of morality, leadership, and governance. MPs must support a ceasefire tonight.
The private company which are contracted to carry out medical and fitness assessments for entrance to the Army are a big part of the reason we have so many vacancies.
🪖 The Tories have hollowed out Britain's military.
The British Army is at its smallest size since it fought Napoleon.
Now, with a General Election breathing down their neck, the Tories promise the world. We've seen this trick before.
Labour will strengthening our defences 🇬🇧
So many incredible people involved in making this beautiful show. I was honoured to be a part of it and I cannot wait to share it with the world tonight!

Fantastic to attend the launch of this report today. Great contributions showing we have a long way to go to protect workers and ensure the regulation of AI.
🚨 NEW REPORT🚨
🏴AI in Work in Wales🏴
Working with
@ConnectedByData
, we've documented for the first time how workers in Wales are being negatively affected by the unregulated introduction of artificial (AI) into workplaces.
There are very few female Tory MSs, all the Labour members are doubled up on 2 committees each (SM on 3). These two committees with no women are both good evidence in favour expanding the Senedd and more gender equality in the Senedd!
Although I am not a student anymore, if I was I’d be supporting Zack! Zack is a fantastic advocate for students and will make an excellent Ordinary Rep!!
🌹ON THE BALLOT 🌹
Thank you so much to everyone who’s nominated me and my amazing colleagues so far - all
@socialist_yl
Ordinary Rep candidates are on the ballot!
But there’s still more to do - please nominate the fantastic socialist Future team here:
Day 3 of my 41 days of canvassing today, set myself a goal to get out doorknocking at least once a day, just doing my national service to get rid of this Tory government.

We’re increasing the minimum earnings threshold for skilled workers by 48% to £38,700, encouraging businesses to look to British talent first and invest in their workforce.
Not the campaign I was expecting from The Body Shop but nevertheless extremely glad to see it! 2024 is the year of elections, let’s make it the year of young people’s participation too!
Now we’re learning about Gen Z’s slang, it’s time to learn about their thoughts and views💪 2024 is a huge year for elections and raising youth voices is a crucial element this year to ensure young people are not excluded from democracy. Our political system needs youth
🚨 BREAKING: Labour's Shadow Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood says she agrees with JK Rowling's "gender critical" views.
Mahmood, a key ally of Keir Starmer, says that she believes "biological sex is real and is immutable" and said JK Rowling has "lead the fight in this area".
