Phd UCL, neurodiverse, love Manics, Everton. Fingers crossed for a Socialist utopia π€Male(ish) (he/they) atheist but trying not to be a dick about it
Very true, it's disgraceful the number of times a cis woman is quietly using the bathroom and a trans comedian comes in and starts playing a piano with their penis.
The Newstatesman interviewed Rosie Duffield, giving her a chance to spout lies and transphobia. She claims woman are born with the ability to sense transpeople, and feel in danger when near them. This is the sort of shit racists said about African Americans during segregation.
Oh Ffs, now GCs have launched
#BoycottEsteeLauder
because they had a trans woman in their ad. So now acknowledging trans women use makeup is too far for them. Is there a single thing trans people can do that won't result in abuse?
Not a word, not one fucking word from
@Keir_Starmer
about murder of Brianna Ghey. He cares more about keeping the votes of worst people in the UK than condemning transphobia and honouring a wonderful young woman. I will NEVER vote for him or the vacuous shell of a party he leads.
Keir Starmer came to pride, took a place from an LGBTQ person, got his photos, and held up a sign with the trans colours on them. As soon as he got what he wanted he ran off to court the anti-trans bigots. He should not be allowed anywhere near this year's Pride
This smear is a rework of the Satanic Panic, where innocent people were accused of child abuse. This is the anti-trans movement at their most wicked and absurd. Rowling doesn't care who she hurts.
We've now learned that Mermaids appointed a paedophilia apologist as Trustee and that their online moderator encouraged kids to move onto a platform notorious for sexual exploitation. This is a charity that's achieved unprecedented influence in the UK. 2/5
@KatyMontgomerie
If I changed my male name to another male name and someone refused to call me by the new one that would be seen by everyone as hostile, but if a trans person does the same itβs some sort of ideological right to refuse. Deadnaming is hateful, and we canβt even have that.
Graham Linehan paid tribute to Barry Humphries. Here a picture of Humphries in drag with a kid. In Graham's world, where drag should never be seen by kids, this makes him a groomer. It's like Graham's a hypocrite who only cares about drag if he can attack trans people
@Glinner
Hard to pick the most appalling thing said by GCs about Brianna Gheyβs murder, but WOS saying transpeople and allies coming together to mourn her death is like Christmas to us and weβre excited she was killed is up there as despicable comments go.
@katedoak
@smh
@RebelWilson
He said it'd be same with opposite sex partner, it isn't, you don't risk friends, family, career, well-being and safety anouncing straight relationships. Them asking is saying "we know, and we could ruin your life whenever we like," noone can live like that, they forced her hand
GCs playing out fantasy of Mermaids being a pedophile ring based on something a PhD student wrote 12 years ago, with no proof any child has been harmed. goal is to create media pile-on and pressure charity comm by drowning Mermaids in lies, don't let their lying win
#MermaidsOut
Donβt equate Rosie Duffieldβs situation to Jo Cox. The far-right are targeting trans people, spurred on by the likes of Duffield. She has complete impunity to spread lies, fear, and bigotry that encourages violence against the queer community. The far-right support her stance
Left: Rowling in 2017 receiving Companion of Honour at Buckingham Palace, held by only 65 people for services of national importance
Right: Rowling on Friday night ragetweeting a man with 195 followers who mildly criticised her
I wouldnβt say this GC thing is going well for her
there's something deeper to GC reaction to Bailey/Tavistock. These were two issues they cared deeply about, neither of which went their way. We knew they'd declare victory, but their tone has been hysterical, like a cult on day they drink poison to ascend up to heaven (1/4)
Magdalen Berns all over GC Twitter. No idea why she's held in such high regard (Graham Linehan called her a prophet). She just seemed a nasty person who said nasty things about trans people, and probably never met a trans person. Seriously, what's driving cult of Berns?
We have been gifted the most incredible cartoon by transphobes. If we can't deliver thousands of memes we don't deserve equality. I would kill to have computer skills but I gave it a shot
GCs talk about safeguarding children, but only link it to 'trans ideology'. They never talk about child poverty, free school meals, education, or children's charities. This is because they don't care about children, they're just another pawn to attack trans people, it's twisted
Starmer offered condolences to the family of Nicola Bullie at PMQs, a welcome and kind gesture. So why didn't he offer condolences to the family of Brianna Ghey? The fact he chose to honour one person and ignore another clearly show how much less he values trans lives.
@JoPhoenix1
Being straight/cis you can go to places holding partners hand, dressed as you wish, and be addressed correctly. LGBTQ people can't, at any moment can be victims of hate. These gestures provide some of comfort you take for granted, the fact you can't see that says a lot about you
@LozzaFox
I think heβs busy performing in the West End. Theyβre not after your services much these days, but I'm sure Jason will send you a ticket if you'd like to see the inside of a theatre again.
@Glinner
Welcome back, now you can call women traitors and vichy collaborators to a wider audience. Don't forget to call gay people who support trans people homophobes like you have been doing on you blog
Material Girl - Kathleen Stock - deep dive 2
Another look at MG.
Let's check out her claim on page 1 about 2000-5000 transpeople in UK in 2004. Seems straight forward.
But if we look to see where it comes from we'll see just how dishonest she is
Thread below,
Watching David Baddiel's documentary on antisemitism was a horrible experience. He had temerity to say queer people dont have to hide their identity like Jewish people do. It triggered my own trauma about hiding my queer identity out of fear I'd lose everything. Be better David
7 of them are LGBTQ, and you've tried to save your campaign by attacking their community. Tories have cut funding for local sport by half since 2010. So go ahead and cheer, get some likes, but they overcame roadblocks you placed in front of them and succeed in spite of you
Huge congratulations to the
@Lionesses
on their Euros win.
They havenβt just won the tournament theyβve won the hearts of the whole country.
What a great day to be an England fan.
#WEURO2022
The way links between neurodiversity and being trans is reported treats both as victims. There's a higher rate of neurodiversity in trans population. So what? Just because you're neurodiverse doesn't make you unable to know yourself. This is transphobic, ableist trash.
Newsnight just did a segment platforming a doctor who compared trans healthcare for children with the treatment of East German athletes. The UK isnβt a safe place for transpeople.
This is horrifying. They show no sadness or sympathy for a murdered teenager, caring only about proving it wasn't related to her being trans and worrying her death will be used against them. They are delighted. They actually fucking highlighted it! What is wrong with these people
Graham Linehan retweeted video of a man (on the right) threatening trans people. See the black flag. That's a symbols of the far right. It means 'no quarter shall be given,' meaning they will kill their enemies, in this instance trans people. Graham just boosted a violent fascist
Kathleen Stock's Material Girl - deepdive 3
Welcome to another deepdive. Today were tackling page 3 and the claim youngest patient seen at GIDS is 3 years old.
Last time Stock used a phantom figure for a claim, this time she'll find a real one and twist it to suit her purposes
It's the same delusion used by apocalyptic religious group when the rapture doesn't arrive, they just tell themselves it's actually part of the plan. This is the same with GCs, it wasn't really defeat, it was actually a step towards final victory, so really it was a win (3/4)
Graham railed against two people today: H from Steps and Wellington the womble. How in God's name can this get any weirder? He's just been blocked by a 90s popstar and a fucking womble!!! What next, is he going to wage war against Bucks Fizz and Bagpuss?
Suggestions below
#GenderRecognitionReformBill
this GC woman flashed in the gallery during the GRA debate. Imagine if a trans person had done this, it'd be in every newspaper with articles calling us all perverts.
In case you're wondering why I don't criticise Sunak, what's the point? I expect nothing from the party of Section 28 and 35. Starmer is the leader of the Labour Party, and we have the right to expect him to honour all the people who came before him and fought for us.
It's partly way to deal with defeat. If they really thought they'd won they'd be more measured, and wouldn't need such adulation. By rejoicing with such conviction, it's as though they think they can change reality through sheer force of will. But there's even more to it (2/4)
Don't see this as propaganda or lying, they genuinely think they won, and they're one step closer to final day of triumph (God help us whatever that is). Bailey/Tavistock losses are now good omens, and no step back will deter them from believing they're closer to victory (4/4)
@JamesEsses
What do you mean imagine the roles were reversed? They are reversed all the time. Trans people have horrendous abuse heaped on them. And imagine if a straight person got upset for for being called straight. You're just confection something to allow you to play the martyr.
To translate
#LetWomenSpeak
, it means let GC women speak and freely discriminate against trans people, whilst telling other women who disagree to shut up and level torrents of abuse at them.
That bookshop is near my uni. In their LGBTQ section I saw Helen Joyce's Trans and Abigail Schrier's Irreversible Damage. The books on their website and available in several Waterstones. Everything GCs do, even when they get their way, requires a chorus wailing false persecution
Apparently the Gower Street branch of
@Waterstones
, which is effectively the UCL bookshop, refuses to stock
@hannahsbee
Time to Think. Given the UCLH connection, I think people around here are likely to be particularly interested in the story. What is your policy
@Waterstones
?
Considering Graham Linehan never shuts up about standing up for gay people, he is absolutely appalled and threatened by even the mildest expression of queerness.
@JoPhoenix1
That's even more puzzling. Surly as a Lesbian you can understand how gestures of inclusivity would bring some comfort to trans people, who know they can clothes shop in peace and the staff will be helpful?
@gay_lumberjack
This is the most tenuous link between two unrelated things that has ever been made in human history, and about as profound as a bowel movement.
@frasermatthew
So merely criticising France and it's approach to multiculturalism is French bashing. How can we ever challenge power and push for positive change if the very act of critiquing acts of aggression by governments against the vulnerable is off limits?
@LGBTCons
I'm sorry but why should we listen to you? You are part of a political party that has spent decades attacking and demonising LGBTQ people. Your party gave us section 28, and now you've target us again with section 35. Either do the right thing and resign or shut up
Someone put reclrding of Graham Linehan doing stand up and dying on his arse. Funny to see his army of GC fans start out laughing before getting quieter and quieter as the realise how bad he is at this. Highlight was when he stopped and got out his phone.
Is there anything GCs won't attach their persecution complex onto? As well as pretendong no one was brave enough to publish this fucking book, they're saying Waterstones won't stock it, which is a blatant lie. I've never encountered such a miserable bunch of paranoid whiners
@Glinner
translation: Iβve no idea why this guy was fired, but itβs a chance to attack Sam Smith, a person Iβm obsessed with and have a pathological need to troll. Btw Steve Allen is gay. Itβs unrelated, but Iβm jamming it in to make it seem Iβm standing up for gay rights
@ALLIANCELGB
It absolutely hasn't. You extended sympathy to LGB people and not T, even though a trans person was killed. That tweet summed up your disgusting organisation. It's people like you who drive anti-queer sentiment by ranking us into worthy and unworthy of dignity. Shame on you
When a gay man comes out, he never has to have sex, dress queer, or live in chosen sexuality for a certificate. Thereβs no therapy, medical board, or waiting period to make sure theyβre certain. Trans people do. They call it safeguarding, itβs bigotry. Treat all LGBTQ the same
@setoacnna
I don't know anything about this, and I can't say what I'm concerned about. Has a statement ever summed up the GC movement better than this?
Being shouted down in the Chamber by
@UKLabour
men who clearly don't want women to speak up for our rights to single sex spaces. How very progressive
#Section35
@Louise_m_perry
@NewStatesman
Iβm sorry but the article was disgusting. It peddled myths, judged trans people for appearance, claimed too much liberalism as a cause, accused big tech of conspiracy, and the last paragraph was so awful itβs the kind of thing that could lead to someone getting hurt. Appalling
New low for Graham Linehan, telling followers to sign petition for essentially banning ALL trans healthcare in Florida. We always knew it, but now no doubt he wants total eradication of trans people, and will support any tyrant who'll do it. He's a danger and need to be stopped.
Here's a thought Guardian: perhaps you should refer to recently deceased people by their actual name in the headline instead of reducing them down to their relationship to Mackenzie Crook.
Is JK Rowling transphobic? LGBTQ people think so, and that's because she isn't new. We've seen her bigotry many times, in history, public life, and our own lives. When we hear her we see a pattern so familiar it's tedious. So is she Transphobic? Yes. Why? Just trust us on this
Had discussion with friend about Monuments and grafitti on Churchill statue calling him a racist. Just to let you all know that Churchill was the vice president of the First International Congress of Eugenics in 1912. He wasn't just racist, he was a full blown white supremacist.
In conclusion: MG is riddled with inaccurate sources, lacks the academic standards that Stock relies on for respectability, and reveals her to be extremely duplicitous. She has no right to call herself an academic, and this book is garbage.
And we're still on the first page!!!!
Everyone says the queen has a sense of humor and she does love a laugh. She must have been laughing her head off when she dipped into the taxpayer's pocket and pulled out the millions she gave to her favorite son to pay off the girl he assaulted and no one said a word
#Newsnight
Stood outside Camden Town Underground with a friend when two women walked past angrily yelling "poof" and other homophobic slurs at me. Dozens of people around. Nobody confronted them, no one asked if I was OK. I'm fine, but upset people just let them abuse me ππ³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ
very disturbing incident in Sydney. The trans panic has reignited gays as child predators myth and hate crimes are increasing as a result. Anti-trans movement is encouraging wider attack on queer community. Should also note panic and demonising of furry community is sadly ignored
A mural of a gay furry wearing nothing but a jockstrap, harness and a teddy bear head was painted not even in the gay part of Sydney, it was in the main business district near Wynyard station. Overnight it was painted over with the message βleave the kids aloneβ left.
Material Girl 1
I wasn't expecting to be spending time on the first page, let alone the opening paragraph, but it's such a badly written mess it needs attention.
Thread below.
Says it all really. Every review written by a GC, Forstater raising funds to get book into medical schools. This country is drowning in anti-trans bigotry. Thank fuck young people aren't buying it and this is just the dying whimper of a bunch of desiccated middle-class bores
@KatyMontgomerie
@Kuma_Noashi
Iβve had this problem. When I went to LGB Alliance conference I saw someone I work with. It was a shock. Iβm torn because I like them, but feel guilty for that, like Iβm letting my community down. Also I work with them so thatβs another angle. Never really known what to do.
So, Stock, an academic, relies on source with political agenda. This wouldn't be acceptable from an undergraduate, let alone an academic
But where does Norman get the 2000-5000 figure from? Well, there's a link in article to ECHR 2002 case of Christine Goodwin vs United Kingdom
Swiss town of Bassersdorf burnt a bigoted effigy of trans woman. This is unreal and a really disturbing step. To show such hatred and inhumanity is inexplicable. How is this any different from cross burnings KKK would do to frighten and subjugate black people during segregation
If you're in a bad place because of the section 35 announcement, don't be. We've been here before, we fought back, we won, and we'll win again

Spiked published this hysterical headline and freaked out about babies being traumatised by gyrating performers, and all I saw was how the entire audience was smiling and laughing.
It must be hard staying so angry when faced with so much happiness
@pickle_bee
@KatyMontgomerie
I really enjoyed their letter, they must have spent so long on it, to dedicate so much time to something so cringe-inducingly unfunny makes you feel embarrased for them, a bit like watching Ricky Gervais' stand-up
It's tough being queer, and sometimes it gets you down. But remember, no matter how tough it get, we'll always live in a world where Graham Linehan bought a transphobic birthday cake with his name in massive letter for a woman who disappeared with Β£100,000 of her supporters money
The best coverage of the GRA passing was on Channel 4 News. It lasted 20 seconds and basically said "GRA passed, makes life a bit easier for trans people." They were the only ones who understood how unimportant it is, and how all the noise is just the wailing of bigots.
At this point Stock is relying upon an opinion piece, based on a court finding, based on a parliamentary group. By academic standards this is laughable. I'm a PhD and we're encouraged to use no data we haven't seen ourselves, so to have this many layers is ridiculous.
There's so many problems. It is deeply bigoted. He calls LGBTQ, people of colour, and disabled "a sacred circle of minorities," the kind of thing you'd pull out of a Daily Mail column. It's such a shame. Antisemitism a very serious issue and deserved a much better analysis.
I see GCs jumping on this. It's amazing, trans people get blamed by cis-people for the behaviour of other cis-people. A trans-person commits a crime, we're all at fault, a cis-person does the same, we also get it in the teeth.
Police in Sheffield want to speak to this man after reports of someone filming women in a changing room in Primark on The Moor. Two women reported seeing a mobile phone being used under the curtains of the cubicles on the 19th of July. The women were left shaken and distressed.
What a sad bastard Graham Linehan truely is. He's obsessed with being praised and applauded for his pitiful efforts, and I'm not sure thinking Republicans are repeating what you say is a good thing. This is as much about his ego than anything else, what a deeply flawed man.
@Glinner
Good luck with the grift Graham π you're standing on the shoulders of GC giants. Might be hard doing a bunk with everyone's money like Marion Miller as you're too well recognised, but I'm sure you can keep anything you get and not return it like Alison Bailey did. Your call
@helenstaniland
Nazis Helen, literal Nazis were at her event, not to mention a woman was strangled when she tried to speak. How does this not register with you? How can you continue to hold your beliefs when these are your allies?
Tomorrow tickets for LGB Alliance conference go on sale. I'm going to go, see madness first hand. I realize probably not worth it, but like to see what they say to eachother when they think nooneswatching. If you're not going I'm sure there'll be a protest and it'll be awesome
So where does the figure come from? According to her sources section it's from a newspaper article in the Guardian.
This sets off alarm bells. Academics do NOT use opinion pieces in their work without good reason.
Well, at least Norman is an unbiased source right?
Wrong
Stock isn't an outlier. GCs never stop producing madeup figures to lend a veneer of respectability to their bigotry. But for an academic to do so is shocking. This is what anti-trans mindset does: strips every bit of you away till there nothing but a deceitful myopic liar left
@WingsScotland
@Glinner
What is wrong with you! You only care if it's a hate crime. This girl has been brutally murdered, and whether it's related to her being trans or not you should show some basic humanity. You have completelydehumanised her and reduced her to her identity. You're a disgrace.
The queue has been suspended, so people will have to wait to join it. THEY'RE QUEUING TO JOIN THE QUEUE !!! What kind of mad absurdist theatre production are we orchestrating?
The working group was not being dishonest, numbers seem to be based on something, but they didnt include them
So not only is the estimate not from UK, nor from 2004, we have no idea when or where it came from.
Basically, Stocks makes a claim based on a figure that doesn't exist
