4 years ago I held my wife’s hand when I submitted my med school apps. Last night I held her hand once again while submitting residency applications! There wasn’t a place on ERAS to add her as my greatest achievement so sharing it on here! Couldn’t have done this without you❤️
Them: “So what happens in you don’t match into residency?”
Me: 👨🍳🎂🧁🍰.

My mentee just secured an interview at NYU SOM!!! Have been mentoring him and his brother since I was a freshman in college. Couldn’t be happier! Paying it forward one future physician at a time 😍🙌🏻 getting ready for my own interviews while helping him is surreal 😁🙌🏻
I’ve been reading and re reading the email. We gave so much to get here.
First physician form my family.
First from my community!
What a journey!

I am incredibly grateful and humbled to be chosen as the Student Doctor of the Year at
@RowanVirtuaSOM
! Thank you to all my mentors and colleagues who made this journey possible 🙌🏻
Just did a cost of attendance increase eval with my financial aid office. Here are the numbers from July-Sept from sub-I, and application fees:
5500+miles driven in 3 months
Total cost $19,267 (EXCLUDING food, gas, conferences etc)
WILD 🤯🤯
This is on top of our 70k tuition!!
It means so much when the interviewers have read my application! Just finished an interview and was told “you should be proud of your accomplishments, you have great letters of recommendation from people who care about you”. Still smiling from ear to ear 😁
VSLO background checks be insane I am now cleared from state police, FBI, PA, NJ, and fingerprint scanned to be able to do electives. I feel like being a med student should be enough, barely have time to enjoy my hobbies let alone commit any crimes.
Just received an email asking if I wanted to attend an interview in person or via zoom! Are in person interviews back?? Definitely did not plan this into my budget 😅
BIG MOOD TODAY! Woke up to my first VSLO acceptance. Absolutely STOKED🙌🏻. counting down the days! Definitely will be riding this high for a while

Power went out from thunderstorms while on the last section of level 2… praying it comes back on in next 30 mins or will have to retake all of it 😶😐. I’m at a loss of words… hope everyone is safe out there.
Honored to be the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Award. Could not have done this without the support of the

community from rotations to conferences. Excited to be joining this profession. What a journey . 🙌🏻
Taking my first actual break after an entire year. Front loaded all my rotations right after boards, and grateful to have found some downtime to visit my family in Belgium! Bless the 4th year schedule y’all! Belgian chocolate about to spike my serotonin and glucose levels 😂😅🍫
Step 2 this Thursday! What food/drinks are people bringing? I’m thinking some protein bars, apple, Red Bull, Tylenol for the last few blocks, water. Anything else you’d bring? And any last min words of wisdom? Cant wait for this to be over!

The first day of Ramadan starts tomorrow with the pre-dawn meal! Wishing all who observe Ramadan, a month filled with blessings and peace!
May your days of fasting be easy and your nights be full of light! 🌙
Diversity in medicine doesnt start when applying to residency. It starts in K-12, undergrad and med school. The constant uphill struggle URiM students face, from lack of social capital, finances, and opportunities amplifies the challenges at all levels
#RepresentationMatters
Had a dream last night that I forgot to upload my personal statement on ERAS and submitted my app without it. The equivalent of dreaming you forgot your pencil the night before the exam 😅😂

Also wild to see that the step 2 average this year shot up to a 248!! Past years has been at or just above 240. I’m guessing this is the impact of step 1 being pass fail?
