Eoghan Harris was a secret member of the Workers Party for 20 years and admits proudly he manipulated RTÉ coverage to be biased in the extreme. He was a member of the WP when it was still linked to OIRA. He tried to derail the peace process. I could write reams about him.

Maybe it's just me, but if Loyalists organised a festival every July that was 90% literary events, dance nights etc, with one night of teens badly singing historical songs I think it would be better than bonfires, provocative marches and attacking communities like the New Lodge.

This is a sick rewriting of history. Margaret Perry was murdered by a trio of Special Branch agents who then went on to work for the British Army Force Research Unit. All three were shot dead by the IRA who notified a local priest about the location of Margaret's body.

This week in Clare, locals Commemorated the Rineen Ambush, when an IRA column of 50 wiped out 6 RIC men in seconds. Children were given tours, wreathes were laid and the national anthem was played. What would the media say if people commemorated the Warrenpoint ambush like that?

Mad how basically everything I want in life (Ra memorials, a big Ra museum, cheap pint bottles of Bulmers, constant live rebs, the glider, sound republicans, the PD, the Rock and the Felons) can all be found in West Belfast and I'm from the other end of Ireland. Typical

@boozerweight @IsabelleEmillie @kylasmilel @ameliamcd_ Ehhh...no? A decision isn't good because it's popular. By that logic, Hitler was the right decision for the Germans since he won.

disgrace or no disgrace. Those who promoted him for those decades will not lose an ounce of sleep over it all. Someday a certain baby Blueshirt will probably end up in the same position, having skipped the Marxist step first.

Portadown is the heartland of Orangism. Even in the last assembly election SF posters were being taken down by masked thugs. This May's council election provides an opportunity to elect two SF candidates and deliver another blow to triumphalism and supremacy like in 1985 and 98.

Billy first ran for the Dáil in 1992 at a time when SF canvassers were having Gardaí sent into their workplaces, were arrested for leafleting and it was illegal for any member of SF (one ran against him that election) to be on RTÉ. And he speaks of intolerance of other views?

Came across a thesis on political ideology today. There is no difference between the Far Right and the Extreme Left. Both are completely intolerant of other views and engage in threatening and sometimes violent behaviour, to further their warped political ideology. 2 sides 1 coin

Lloyd George failed to criminalise them. O'Higgins failed. De Valera failed. Lemass failed. The Cruiser failed. Whitelaw failed. Thatcher failed. The Irish Times hasn't a hope.

@ScottMoore0 Public record meaning what though exactly? Do you reckon Gerry was keenly noting everything he was at? We live in the internet age, where everything we do is properly noted and easy to check. Gerry was interned without trial in 1973 like.

In Easter 1916, Éamon de Valera led members of the Irish Volunteers at Boland’s Mills, while Seán Lemass was armed with a shotgun in the GPO & fought there & in Moore Street. Both went on to lead Fianna Fáil & become Taoiseach. Real Republicans. Real Taoisigh.

Privileged to show @DrUmarAlQadri around Belfast as he sought to understand the North's current and past better. Whilst clearly a Nationalist in his instincts and outlook, he was also angered by the conditions in which working class Loyalist communities are left by Westminster.

40 years ago today, after 217 days of suffering and loss, the 1981 Hunger Strike ended. We must never forget those who died, but we must also recall those who went out every day on the streets to call for their demands, amidst murder and repression by state forces.
