I'd been pretty calm and really hadn't even gotten to the core of my questions, so I knew I was on the right track, and that my client's mom didn't get it. We returned from break: cop was gone, Crown withdrew charges 3/3. Period. As my 15-yr-old would say.

@sarahraviani @Mooniter It's amazing to see Iranians opposing theocracy, autocracy, & antisemitism. But, to be real, antisemitism was widespread for generations in Iran. I just think many Iranians r seeing things differently now, shedding the yoke of IRG brainwashing, & r standing up for democracy. 1/2

@kinsellawarren @Joe_Roberts01 I don't know that escalating helps. I would be in favour of conversation and exchange. Maybe you can find common ground, then work from there. Difficult, may lead to nothing, but at least it's an effort

@TMasudin I'm a Jewish-Iranian-Canadian who has always felt a connection 2 🇮🇱, a lefty who has dedicated whatever I can to fighting injustice. 7.10 made me realize that 🇮🇱 may be the only place I'll find diverse ppl, Jews, Muslims, Christians, lefties, w/ whom I can always stand.

I'd like to point out, that by reaffirming universities' autonomous governance, the courts have also reaffirmed that universities, to some extent, have greater autonomy than municipalities!!! 😪 That's why we need @chartercity_TO

I've registered 4 the @ClaOntario 's Fall Annual Conference, & I will admit that I'm nervous. I haven't been to one 4 years, don't currently practice, & last time I went, I was overwhelmed w/ emotion. Hope I'll see some of the folks from Twitterville & find some deep inspiration

In Canada, we have become addicted to #prisons . We use them to warehouse those w/ serious mental health issues & to turn a blind eye to our own failures in addressing the social inequities & systemic issues that have led to the over-incarceration of #Indigenous & #Black peoples

The women who have fought 4 & obtained #RestorativeJustice to deal w/ being sexually assaulted have made a tremendous difference. RJ, done properly, can heal victims, teach offenders, & lower recidivism. For most cases, it's the most rational, effective, empathetic solution

I spoke to the Star about my experience with restorative justice after I was sexually assaulted. I did so because we need alternatives. The system is failing. Trials are more polarizing than ever & rates of sexual violence are steady. /1 via @torontostar
