I dug into ALL of Bilal Coulibaly’s tape over the last two seasons to prove what he’s showing now isn’t just a “flash in the postseason pan”!! Read what happens when “Growth Meets Opportunity” below!!
#NBADraft
If you include UDFA in a draft night haul, the Los Angeles Lakers may be my favorite in the field? Getting Jalen Hood-Schifino who has one of if not the highest upside after the lotto picks, plus Max Lewis at 40 AND Castleton and Hodge as 2-ways?? Talk about a night!!
Everyone who actually watched the game saw Luka Doncic get his own offense unforced, consistently find others and make the extra pass, and get his own buckets at a stupidly efficient rate. A few of those possessions were actually schemed well by DAL, not just poor D...
"But the fans didn't want what we saw last night in Atlanta... That was a disgrace... Did you see how they played defense last night?"

I hope people are ready for the jumbo wing sized version of Victor Oladipo I compared him to before last draft cycle. Around this age was when Victor’s PnR and jump shooting really took off. Bilal is doing this at 6’8” with a 7’2” wingspan.
Danny Ainge is one of the greatest basketball executives we've seen in terms of identifying talent. I'm sorry, but his hits far outweigh the misses. And I think this draft class with Keyonte George on top of Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh is going to be a trio of hits.
Where does Brandin Podziemski go in a 2023 NBA re-draft today?
I'm thinking as high as 3rd and not any lower than 7th. A lottery lock for sure, so Podz is looking like a steal for the Warriors as the 19th pick.
Absolutely love the young core the San Antonio Spurs have in the Cali Classic right now. Blake Wesley, Malaki Branham, Dom Barlow all favorites of mine, not to mention Julian Champagnie. With Wemby, Vassell, Sochan, the future is bright.
The Thunder getting Chet and JDub in the same draft will go down as one of the best single team hauls ever (Chet was 1 on my board at the time, JDub was a late lotto grade). Not sure both could’ve started their careers better and project to have significant ceilings.
These are some examples of why I was right there among some eager analysts last year to mock Jalen Williams in lottery range. It’s not just the shooting and the length. This man is a legit playmaker on the wing.
If I’m the OKC Thunder I’m actually thinking more about finding a skilled 4 man that can help cover gaps, rebound, and space the floor to keep with their play style. The speed/pace of having more perimeter guys on the floor feeds into their identity. So I’m not sure having a
Bilal Coulibaly is going to be sooo good in 2 years. Once he gets his legs underneath him, puts some more muscle on, and smoothens out the spot-up shot... Whew look out
I've seen Bilal Coulibaly do everything but hit spot-up shots. What a great Summer League so far for him. As has been for all of Johnny Davis, Ryan Rollins, and Patrick Baldwin. Love watching this Wizards squad.
Leonard Miller showing why there was a significant population who had a Top 20 draft grade on him. Constantly active, moving, communicating, and making good decisions on both sides of the ball. Tenacious rebounder, stronger than he looks. Great pick by the Wolves in the 2nd Rd
The Milwaukee Bucks getting Jazian Gortman and Omari Moore on two-way contracts is awesome UDFA value in the backcourt. Both of them could develop and add some firepower there in Milwaukee long term. Love that tandem.
No chance Keyonte George plays another game past this one. Utah Jazz got themselves an excellent young man at the guard spot. Last year, I admitted early I was too low on Tari Eason. Around the same place on my board, I was wrong about George. Kid is a STUD.
Impatient NBA franchises sabotage their own success. Look what happened with the Kings when the team FINALLY took time to build. They’re in the playoffs as a 3rd seed. But if the Rockets DONT want an organic future and want to keep losing, by all means.
I'll now also throw the Utah Jazz in with the Orlando and Indiana drafts. Taylor Hendricks, Keyonte George, and getting Brice Sensabaugh at 28. Regardless of medical concerns with Sensabaugh, IF he his healthy he has Top 10 upside. Well done Jazz.
I've gotten to know some pretty awesome people on basketball Twitter for each NBA team, but Thunder fans are the greatest on here. The loyalty and appreciation y'all have despite team wins and losses is awesome, I see nothing but happiness on the TL. Here's to you guys.
No one can deny the Sacramento Kings have done a pretty dang good job identifying young talent in recent years. Having Keon Ellis, Colby Jones, Isaiah Crawford, Mason Jones, and Isaac Jones in cheap spots is great work, even throw Boogie Ellis in that group.
D'Moi Hodge for Mizzou today: 23 points, 4 steals, 5-10 from 3P range. 98th % in total offense, rates well on spot-ups, transition offense, jumpers, runners, finishing at the rim. Excellent guard complement who scores, makes plays, and defends. Underrated 2023 NBA Draft prospect.
The Atlanta Hawks gave up pieces and draft picks to get Dejounte Murray, but they kept John Collins and still have Jalen Johnson and AJ Griffin in waiting along with Sharife Cooper. Atlanta should get more credit for good use of assets while also having some good young pieces.
And that’s why I keep tweeting about Jalen Green. I’ll have plenty to say on Cade, Mobley and Scottie. I already have. But people have written this guy off like he can’t justify his draft stock. This dude is a gym rat. A WORKER. A HOOPER.
Jalen Green is literally all of us diehards next week 😭
This man just really loves to hoop so much that he's sad the season is ending.
I'm really interested to see how he comes back next year, strikes me as someone who's gonna spend the entire summer in the gym.

This weekend I got ENGAGED to my best friend and love of my life Ana Ferreira. Being away from the grind and losing out on a little content was well worth the vacation and proposal. I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter in our lives!!!
Zach Edey can rely on a number of things in the NBA despite his "warts" as a player. Hard screen setting, rebounding, interior shot blocking. Even if he's not getting a lot of looks early. Positive NBA player. Was hard to argue against a fit like Memphis in the lottery.
I think SGA has taken over the title as the most underrated star player in the NBA
SGA made a leap by adding the pull up 3 to his arsenal last year. Steph & Dame were actually the only PG's that were more efficient
After finishing watching back the Met 92 game today, two things.
1) Bilal Coulibaly is a weird hybrid of Victor Oladipo and Jerami Grant (that's a really freaking awesome player)
2) Bilal Coulibaly should be in play in the 2023 NBA Draft from Pick 6 and on
Just your yearly reminder that Summer League Performances DOES NOT indicate career success. What SL does provide is a window into NBA skill sets possessed by said player, as well as developing chemistry with new teammates in a new system. DO NOT OVERREACT!
My guys are out here leveling up like crazy. Sorry I missed y’all in Philly but we’re gonna link up again 🤝 y’all are the best

Funny how the G League is being questioned as a viable developmental path for prospects, when every single player I've seen in Summer League so far who spent legitimate time down there last season has shown up looking much improved...
I'd still take the Top 3 guys from 2021 in the same order I had them on my board: Cade, Green, Mobley. Still too early to draw major conclusions about these guys, especially with Green's upside to grow as Houston's coaching/culture (hopefully) improve heading into next year.
Keegan Murray with another 24 points, 18 rebounds...Yet we're just going to ignore him as a top 8 prospect? At some point, the production outweighs any prior biases. This dude is a stud. He's a long term NBA starter playing a position/role NBA teams covet.
@BradeauxNBA
I still think it's Jalen Green. He's gotten better in PnR, has the tools to defend multiple positions, and he's far and away the most creative shooter on the team. He's a guard version of Jayson Tatum, reminiscent of the league's best SG's. Amen is a fine answer, but I'm still JG
My 2023-24 West All-Stars As Of 1/14:
Nikola Jokic
Kevin Durant
Kawhi Leonard
SGA
Luka Doncic
LeBron
AD
Steph
Lauri Markkanen
Anthony Edwards
Chet Holmgren
Rudy Gobert
HM's:
Sengun, Fox, Book, PG, Wemby
FWIW I could sub out Lauri and Chet for any 2 of the HM's and I'd be good
Cason Wallace will make $5.5M Next Year
Isaiah Joe will make $2.1M
Aaron Wiggins will make $1.9M
That's three, young, talented bench players for $9.5M
On another level
Can’t say enough good things about the Houston Rockets last night. No one played with an ego. The ball was flying, guys moving, and playing with energy and intent on defense. If THIS is the Rockets squad we get this season, I’d be so excited.
Stephon Castle will look much better with the Spurs' regular rotation. He doesn't have much space to work with, and being able to play off passers such as CP3, Wemby, Sochan, and Vassell will free him up for easier looks too.
I don't understand the amount of negative discourse around Jalen Green. The shots this man can make are pretty dang awesome for a second year guard. I love watching him play, he's electric. Him against Paolo down the stretch!
The way Usman Garuba has played in this 3rd quarter is why scouts were higher on him pre-draft in relation to where he was taken. Incredible defense around the basket, playing passing lanes, handling and finishing in transition. Activity level is awesome!
This weekend I got married to my true love, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect! From the weather to the ceremony and amazing reception dinner and drinks out on the town, I can’t thank everyone enough for their support in our special day!!
The San Antonio Spurs have the chance to draft both Stephon Castle and Devin Carter.
This would solidify the backcourt around Victor Wembanyama with three perimeter options (including Devin Vassell) who can dribble, pass, defend. Vassell is a proven shooter/scorer, and Carter
Does everyone understand why it was Scoot over Brandon Miller? I talked for MONTHS on podcasts to whoever would listen that it's who he is as a leader that sets him apart as much as the talent. You can FEEL it with this Blazers team. Everyone means business, Scoot sets that tone
There is about to be a TON of talent in the UDFA market after this draft has concluded. Those that have done their homework well past 100 on their board know that there are some real gems to be had tonight on two-way deals.
Jarace Walker has a chance to be a type of power wing we don't normally see in the NBA. Obviously has to work on the shot itself, but he handles well, gets to his spots, has passing vision/touch. His upside is up there with a lot of the other top names in the class.
Convinced Bilal Coulibaly, regardless of star outcomes, has upside as one of the most versatile role players in this entire draft. Defends multiple positions, growing as a spot-up shooter, cutter, and ball handler in PnR. Rebounds, has a nose for the ball. This is a lotto pick.
I’ve been impressed with all of Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, and Keyshawn George tonight for different reasons.
- Sarr’s rim protection and passing flashes
- Bub’s competitiveness and basketball instincts
- George’s shooting confidence and willingness to make the next play
Donovan Clingan is a hilariously good center prospect, be it in this draft or 2024. The numbers aren't always eye-popping in terms of counting stats game-by-game, but the tape and per-minute production tell a different story. Buying he's a long-term guy in the NBA.
The most important sell on the Reed Sheppard high draft pick was giving him the runway as a PG and not just view him as someone working off others. The Kentucky flashes were there in terms of Reed’s processing, passing touch, and proficiency playing off high screens.
Isaiah Collier having about as good of a debut as one could've hoped for the Utah Jazz rookie PG. Rim pressure, 3P shooting, and pressue on the opposing ball handlers forcing TO's. A 6'4" driving force with an outside shot and defensive chops would be a great outcome.
Regardless of the order, I feel great about the Top 10 guys on my board being the Top 10 prospects in this class long term:
Victor Wembanyama
Scoot Henderson
Brandon Miller
Cam Whitmore
Jarace Walker
Amen Thompson
Ausar Thompson
Taylor Hendricks
Anthony Black
Brice Sensabaugh
To everyone who had Jaylin Williams as a Top 35 grade on their Big Board last year, I salute you 🤝 I had him at 48 and feel like I whiffed pretty bad on it
Why does everyone have a problem with this quote? He’s confident in himself and has the belief he’s the best talent in the draft. Is he supposed to say someone is better than him? Where is the competitive spirit in that?
@sixringsofsteeI
Think the Pacers see him as a big wing to complement Siakam and Turner in different lineups as opposed to a stretch forward. Still a crowded spot depending on the Nembhard/Mathurin/Nesmith minutes.
As my brothers and sisters know at
@NoCeilingsNBA
, my time with the collective has come to an end. I'll be leaving content creation after one last Draft Deeper podcast coming soon. This has been a difficult decision to make, but one that is best for my family and I.
Jalen Johnson, Coby White, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Williams are the names I’d have in Most Improved Player right now… But are we sure it isn’t actually Deni Avdija???
@KevinOConnorNBA
Two things can be true: Jaylen Brown is a better individual talent in a vacuum, and Derrick White is a better fit for this particular roster/situation.
Say what you want about Matthew Mayer but he's a 6'9" shooter with some juice. He's gonna keep getting chances in the NBA and has a good chance at sticking somewhere.
My thoughts from McDonald’s Game:
- Ron Holland has ridiculous upside
- Stephon Castle and Bronny James are as good as I thought they’d be; Potential Top 10 picks
- Jared McCain trending toward lottery
- DJ Wagner > Isaiah Collier cause defense
- Aden Holloway/Aaron Bradshaw 👀
All I’ve tried to do in the public space is discuss and cover NBA Draft scouting, young players, and basketball as a whole to the best of my ability. To those who have appreciated that coverage and tireless work, thank you for your support
Jalen Williams is a lottery pick. I can't wait for everyone to hear the Mock Draft 3.0 pod I'm dropping tomorrow, but I made a few picks that could've turned heads yesterday. After today, not so much...
Thank you everyone for helping me reach 5,000 followers!
I started this account 3 years ago along with the Draft Deeper podcast and a lot has changed since then for the better.
Here’s to great times ahead in the scouting space 🍻
My goodness Chet Holmgren is already taking names. Friend of
@NoCeilingsNBA
Jalen Williams doing his thing. Ousmane Dieng getting involved. Consider me a fan.
Will be taking some time away from publishing work via
@NoCeilingsNBA
and our podcast feed as I get married to my beautiful fiance this upcoming weekend.
But when I'm back... We're going to run through PLENTY of rankings and observations on the ENTIRE 2023 NBA Draft class.
As for Amen Thompson...Holy smokes no one can keep him in front so far or has made him think twice about a drive to the rim except for Scoot Henderson. Clearly it's going to take the best defenders here in Vegas to keep him from doing what he wants.
Elite Camp Game 1 Participants Who Helped NBA Status IMO:
PJ Hall
Johnell Davis
Leaky Black
Sir'Jabari Rice
D'Moi Hodge
Josiah-Jordan James
Anton Watson
Guys like Omier, Murrell, Bridges, Sharavjamts all had moments but feel confident they will return.
Tyson IMO hurt his stock.
Updated Mock Draft:
Several scouts have referred to Amen Thompson as a bigger version of Ja Morant.
If he’s the next Ja, then we’re talking about an All-NBA star even if Thompson never becomes a league-average shooter from deep.
Agree or disagree?
If that one/two dribble pull-up shot is real, his stock booms as I’ve said before. When I scouted MarJon in Delaware, the shot was there from the corners and pull-ups. Best transition wing in the class, hellish defender. Checks a lot of boxes.
A Wizards core of:
- Tyus Jones
- Jordan Poole
- Johnny Davis
- Corey Kispert
- Deni Advija
- Daniel Gafford
-
#8
Pick
- Top 5 Pick in 2024 (probably)
Actually looks somewhat promising
A reminder of how good the 2022 NBA Draft was at the top. Chet, Paolo, Jabari, Keegan, Sharpe, and then plenty of others through the 1st round like JDub, Duren, Eason, etc.
Jabari Smith Jr. becomes the youngest player in NBA history to record a line of 34+ points, 13+ rebounds, and 4+ blocks, and the just seventh to do it on 84% TS or better
#Rockets
The Ja Morant/Jaden Ivey noise has gotten a lot louder.
But these two are not the same player.
Ja is a superstar of the highest order at this point. But it’s not just the athletic talent. The way he changes speeds and manipulates the game is far from what Ivey can do right now.
