Go digital- If you don't wanna spend on hardcopy, pdf version of books is a good option. Buy a good pad/notebook and download the pdfs from the 1st gear itself you can save a lot on books this way. As sooner or later you will have to buy a pad anyway for PG prep.

Learn the local language - If you are doing MBBS from a different state try learning the local language from the 1st year itself. It will help you in the clinics and during internship a lot. Make friends who can teach you or watch a movie.
