Today, towards the end of my shift, I video called the relatives of a patient who is not going to make it. We usually do that in my hospital if it’s something they want. This patient’s son asked for a few minutes of my time. He then sang a song for his dying mother.

Quarantine if you’ve been exposed and test on Day 5. Test and isolate if you have symptoms or are positive. If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to get tested, isolate for 2 weeks and do not expose anybody else to yourself. This is basic. It’s not that difficult to understand.

COVID made a 40yo woman lose her 26-week IVF pregnancy(3rd attempt), require ventilation, go on the ECMO days ago. She’s still on ECMO, still struggling. I doubt there’s very much we can do. The only thought keeping her going is that she’ll see her baby when she’s better.

Symptom check: Day 7 of illness and most of my symptoms have subsided. Only a nagging cough remains which is getting better slowly. They weren’t kidding about the weakness and brain fog, you need to experience it to understand it. I hope you don’t have to.
