The idea that the Bourgeois colonist were only "men of their time" and that owning Africans and participating in the genocide of Natives is somehow excusable. Because that was the law of the land. With all the so called Enlightenment philosophy they had they were sociopaths.

Yes colonial relations still exist within the US. There are 574 Native Nations under the Marshall trilogy laws that were ruled in the 19th century. Native Nations are under domestic dependence and other structural violence. Raw resources are still extracted from reservations
