@trentconsultant I'm a new consultant, voted no. I lost out when the 2016 junior contract was imposed, had 30% pay erosion in training, and I'm paid 35% less than a new consultant in 2008. The offer doesn't offer anything concrete on achieving FPR and I have no faith in the DDRB being reformed.

PAs are not doctors, they don't have the depth and breadth of training to provide specialist advice, and there should be no expansion to the number of PAs without clearly defined scope of practice and mandatory regulation (by the HCPC not the GMC)

@Baroness_Nichol Britain clearly has trans children who do have agency over their own sex, and healthcare, via Gillick competency. The NHS doesn't perform gender confirmation surgery to under 16s, though does offer other treatments to reduce dysphoria, with the consent of the young person.

This was 15 years ago, several new medical schools have opened since then. The issue isn't with recruitment it's retention. Having enough training places for those who want to become consultants and GPs, and developing specialty doctor posts for those who choose that path

Despite a 72 hour walk out, with 175,000 appointments/procedures cancelled, and a willingness from @TheBMA and @BMA_JuniorDocs to negotiate, the government have made no steps to resolve the dispute. We have no choice but to strike again #JuniorDoctorsStrike

@willtube4food I was a striking junior doctor in 2016, and I'm still striking junior doctor now. I have born the brunt of the 26% pay cut juniors have seen, and when I start my consultant job in August I'll be starting on 35% less in real terms than in 2008. Enough is enough.

This post is patently false, there are a myriad of physical health conditions which cause people to suddenly present with psychiatric symptoms, as liaison psychiatrist I see this daily, and in general it's disingenuous/dangerous to label everything as a trauma response.

For this to happen, there would 100% have to be a trauma, a cumulative experience of underlying distress, an environment of abuse, oppression, harm, bullying, a sudden loss, or a long repressed experience or feeling that was being ignored. You do not just become mentally ill.

@Steven_Swinford Yet more government misinformation and spin. Consultants want pay restoration not a pay rise. I'm a new consultant, I'm not worth 35% less than a new consultant in 2008 (using RPI to calculate pay erosion is fair when my student loans accrue interest based on RPI).

I'm also a doctor from a working class background. I grew on up a council estate, was the first person in my family to go to university, did medicine as a second degree, very far from a privileged background, and none of us are greedy pigs for fighting for pay restoration.

@TimTerry3 Medicine is a calling, that's why people accept working long hours, missing birthdays/ Christmas/weddings etc, having to move around during training. A calling doesn't one mean our pay shouldn't be commensurate to our skill set, and consultants are not worth 1/3 less than in 2008
