Please allow me to introduce the Johannesburg Breast Specialist Unit (JBSU) based at Busamed in Modderfontein
The team includes:
1. Dr Ncumisa Ndamase - Specialist Radiation Oncologist
2. Dr Matseliso Gugushe - Radiologist
3. Dr Olwethu Mbakaza - Nuclear Medicine Specialist
Say what you will about public hospitals and the people who work there BUT you will never be able to take away the phenomenal job we have done to evacuate patients from 1 burning hospital to admit to another extremely busy one. Well done team
GIVE US OUR BELLS🥃

He taught us why medicine was beautiful. He was a living example of the craft in its perfect state. He made us want to be great. Condolences to his family and loved ones. Medicine has lost a Legend. RIP Prof 💔🙏🏾
Just got stopped in the shopping mall by a former patient who hugged me, cried and introduced me to her whole family who were all so grateful .😭💜 This is what makes it all worthwhile 🙏🏾
The Covid beast is rising from its lazyboy sofa. Medical Aid won’t help you at this point. The ICU beds in private and public hospitals are full. Covid admissions are increasing.
Think twice when you want to meet up at restaurants and casinos.
Stay at home. Stay safe.

Meticulous surgical technique is the goal. Don’t catch bowel or ureter ( or anything other than baby ). Be cognisant of the techniques that reduce chronic pain syndromes. Good haemostasis, beautiful scar ✨
I believe in you 💕 and congratulations 👏🏾
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SUCCESS STORIES AS A DOCTOR 🥰😭♥️

This young man was an IV drug user whose use has caused such a severe infection we had to remove some of his skin and muscles (necrotizing fasciitis) to save his life ...1/2

I’ll give you some advice as veteran. Internship is simultaneously the longest and shortest experience. Take every opportunity to learn and be taught even if it’s not “your problem”. Use this time when mistakes are “allowed” to perfect your skills at every opportunity ! Good luck
Med twitter, Quick Q:
When you intern in gen surg and there’s a paediatric burn patient in the paeds surg ward. Who is supposed to drip the baby? The surg intern or the paeds intern?

My patient came to clinic today for his post op follow up. He introduces me to his wife as ‘Dr Life-saver’ and before they leave the whole family surrounds me and says the deepest most intense prayer for me.
What an experience ♥️😭🙏🏾

He was such a delinquent patient but anyone who knows me knows that I don’t give up on those types easily . After multiple surgeries and rehab for his arm we started the journey to get him clean.
Today he came to find me to say thank you😭♥️😭♥️😭. He’s been clean for 10 months!
I AM SHATTERED 💔
I just learnt of the passing of one of our nursing sisters from Covid -related complications. She was phenomenal at her job, loved by all including her patients. She saved so many lives. She was like a mother to me. I am broken.
RIP Sr M, your legacy lives ♥️

I wonder if people realize how mentally and emotionally draining being on the frontline of this second wave is. We have half the energy and are approaching double the problem . It’s exhausting , we’re exhausted .
🥺🥺🥺🥺
Start researching the home oxygen delivery services in your area.
Know their pricing and criteria . Understand their logistics before you start getting short of breath.
This is not a drill!
I bumped into one of my patients from last year.
At the time he was so mad at me that I had to amputate both his legs, he even called me a witch😳
Today he shouted out my name in the passage, smiling &happy.
He apologized for his emotional response last year &we hugged it out☺️
@TomiRikhotso
This is my everyday concern and I have come to realise that we assume our upbringings are similar because of demographics but perhaps this behaviour emanates from the parents’ example and encouragement maybe even rebellion…and hence a new generation is born 😢
I love that my work husbands get along 😍 . The German stallion always makes sure I have a coffee before 8am 💕. The Egyptian gem ensures my safety in the hospital 🥰.

South Africans are an embarrassment!! When you travel Africa and you experience the love and hospitality from our brothers and sisters across the border it’s embarrassing to say we come from a place where we don’t offer the same. Do better!!

Doctors spoke out about how they had to dig into their own pockets for money to buy bread for patients, while the department sorted out a payment problem that affected the buying. But they said there was enough food for patients.
