The Rialto Bridge in Venice from March. I will live my life to make sure this amazing kid is never forgotten and that his spirit lives on.
Today we had our honor walk and walked Asher to the OR elevators to begin organ donation. We’ve been notified he saved four lives.
Today we had a private ceremony and burial for our best buddy, Asher. I will miss him every single day! Until the day we are rejoined in heaven, I will live my life for you. We love you Asher. Please watch over us from above.
Thank you
@VandyBoys
for recognizing Asher!!!
We needed a positive as we had just left a place that parents should never have to be to see their child. As soon as we got to the car, we saw this. 🖤💛
Words will never be enough
He’s back in the room. Results may not be known for a while. He has been breathing quite a bit for the last several hours. They had to use some sedation bc his breathing was causing him to move during the MRI. Praying for some hope. I love him so much!
12:00pm: please respect our and the hospitals privacy.
The doctor this morning told us Asher wouldn’t survive his injuries. Neurology saw a few signs (small response to pain in one arm, and pupils reacting to light) of activity a little while ago so we aren’t giving up hope.
Going to get some rest. He’s been breathing off and on a few breaths every few minutes for the last few hours. Opened his eyes about half way unprovoked twice as well. I know the other side of the roller coaster will come, but so great!
Coach Corbin is the most genuine human I’ve ever met! He was unbelievable during Declan’s battle with cancer, and has done even more for our family during this tragedy.
Coach Corbin has checked on Asher EACH day, even before and after games. Thank you will never be enough!
6:30 pm update. Keep the prayers coming!!!
Still very dire and prognosis unchanged…BUT Asher took a few breaths on his own this evening while on the ventilator. Only a few, but a win is a win.
He is opening both eyelids ever so slightly to pain pressure points in two areas.
6:00pm update: Asher is still fighting, which I wasn’t sure was possible this morning and I don’t think the doctors did either. Thank everyone for the support and keep it coming.
We've made the ever so slightest improvements in a few stats but the brain is still the concern.
Asher update- 5/12: 8:45pm
MRI results were not good, but what we expected. Biggest prayers are for Asher to stabilize and for brain swelling to reduce substantially.
It’s hard finding a picture of just the two of us.
Through the years, this world has hit us harder than most. Through it all, you have been and will always be by my side. I’m so blessed to spend life with you.
I love you Kaycee
The strength that this kid shows is a lesson for us all. He’s had his own battle with cancer, faced hell, and lived to fight another day. The day Asher was declared dead, Declan wanted to play for his brother. Less than two hours later,he was on the court. Back at it again today.
The triggers are strange and often unexpected. However, I have come to hate Wednesdays, especially between 7 and 8 pm. Four weeks to the day of the accident. A church picture from Italy seems appropriate…
Yousuf was down the hall from us this week at Vandy. His dad and I shared a devastating hug this morning that only the two of us can understand. Please help his family if you can.
Help the Ayesh Family
If you are new to following our journey with Asher, you may not realize that our oldest, Declan, has also faced adversity. He’s battled leukemia since April of 2020. Thank you to
@Gillum66
for honoring Declan with his “Bet on Yourself” tribute.

If you missed this heartbreaking story, Tim Corbin had Asher's brother in the Vandy dugout today. Texted the family last night to ask. Corbin on that after the 3-0 win over Tennessee: "Sports sometimes can bring relief to families and people in need."
Some of the hardest calls I’ve made were taking Asher’s name off our travel reservations. I greatly appreciate this hand written note from
@AlaskaAir
. THIS is customer service 💙
The quiet, humble,and beautiful strength of our family. I didn’t think I could love her more, but during this tragedy my love for her as grown exponentially. I promised Asher at his funeral to make sure his mom, and my wife, was taken care of and I’ll honor that with all I have.
Going to try and visit a few national parks out west. This extra seat beside me doesn’t feel right, and I’m not sure just how long we will make it away from home, but we are going to try. This is hard and we definitely fill the missing piece of our heart
As much as it hurts me to say it, I expect UT to win tonight because they are that good, BUT
A funny story I talked about at Asher’s funeral was how he got a “mark” in school for refusing to sing Rocky Top this past February during music. Tonight’s shirt is for you Asher 🤣🖤💛
Getting ready for the battle of our lives with my best buddy. Thankful we could all ( minus Asher) be together even if is only for a few hours. I have a new extreme hatred for restrictions due to Covid-19
No words for today. Along with marrying Kaycee and the day both boys were born, today is one of the best days of my life. It has been a long 21 days/20 nights, but we are finally together tonight at home! Long journey ahead, but today is a win.

In the two weeks I’ve been out of work, Rutherford county schools is going to have to give 11 million to charter schools out of our fund balance “savings.” This money should be used to purchase land and support our students. I hope people will start paying attention.
Thank you to everyone who attended Thursday's prayer vigil for Dr. Sullivan and his family as Asher Sullivan continues to fight for his life.
Special thank you to FCA, New Vision, World Outreach, Believers' Chapel and RCS employees for organizing today's program.
⭐️🏐 Camp was a HUGE success‼️
Wishing players trying out next week the best of luck!
We also wanted to show
@DrJimmySullivan
and his family our support. We pray for wisdom and peace as you navigate through all that lies ahead. 💙💚🖤💛

Teeth are purple from the popsicle 😊. Cuddles watching a movie. Took our first walk today since surgery yesterday. I sure love and believe in this kid!
Celebration of Life Announcement is attached: Please note only seating for 1500
We held a private funeral for Asher on May 23rd. Although it will be hard to relive the tragedies from that time, the community has been amazing and need an opportunity for fellowship and love.
Thank you Asher for the sign. Along manzanita lake Declan picked this one random place to fish along a mile long trail. As clear as could be, Kaycee looked down and saw the shadows of an “S” made from leaves right where Declan was fishing. A few seconds later and it was gone. 💙
A roller coaster and we know more good and bad days will occur. BUT, today has been a great day!!! For the first time, Declan had 0 cancer blasts this morning. If we have a repeat tomorrow, he can come home. Also, spinal tap from Friday showed no cancer. One more needed 🙏
My heart of course still hurts, but I found that familiar nervous energy last night that hits ONLY before the start of a school year. Thankful to begin year 3 leading alongside this great group of principals and central office staff.

Being from the district you lead is a blessing. Rutherford County is special. I didn’t expect to see this when I went to grab lunch today 💚💙
We may be a large district but we still have a small town feel in most places. Thank you
@RicksBarbecue
for supporting our family.
Olympic national park. Beach 4-Kalaloch Beach.
Asher LOVED stuffed animals. “King Pup” was/is the ruler of all the stuffed animals. Some of the older kids made fun of King Pup for having the crown and ripped it apart so his best buddy Liz remade it for him in the hospital.
Received a personal phone call this afternoon from Vandy baseball coach
@TimCorbin
to check on Declan and give us some positive words of encouragement. Absolutely speechless that he would call, especially on Easter Sunday. Declan still doesn’t believe me that “it was really him”
We got to see Declan through the window of the top of the parking garage and wave!! Ready for our first 24 hour parent “swap” since we both aren’t allowed in the hospital at the same time.
#declanstrong
This boy has my heart and soul. No test updates today and coming home is not in the next few days. We will go to High risk treatment for month 2+3.
More chemo, increased intensity, and more hospital stays, but this kid is TOUGH. Continue to pray for Declan and our family.
Writing helps. I know it helps me, and I hope it helps others to know that it is ok to grieve. It is not something to be ashamed of or that you need to get over. Grieving is another expression of love. It's just a format our world is less comfortable talking about. 1/7
@rucoschools
teachers. Happy teacher appreciation week!! Normally, I try to write an elaborate email of thanks. My brain just can’t find the words, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to say thank you. Teachers are the backbone of our school system.
Not being able to see your son while he goes through the rounds of chemo/hospital is incomprehensible. I enjoyed my time with Asher today greatly, but so excited to see this kid after 38 hours apart.
Thank you for all the kind words and thoughts of encouragement!! The School Board had three great candidates to choose from who have each successfully served our district. Im humbled, excited, and blessed to begin this new journey with a focus on communication, transparency,
Some good news this morning. Cancer blast cell count is down to 90. We come home when it hits zero. We might get to come home this week! Prayers appreciated for Declan’s continued progress and positive prognosis genetic testing results.
We are one year off of treatment and Declan’s blood tests were clear!! The meeting with his oncologist went great as well. Unless something brings concern, we are good for 3 more months!
#beatingleukemia
#childcancerawarenessmonth
Small setback yesterday as they did find a leukemia cell in the spinal fluid. Started extra chemo targeting the CNS today and he handled it like a champ.
#DeclanStrong
continued prayers and positive thoughts and energy is our biggest need
Quick story on Declan’s name. I’m James Joseph Sullivan IV. We chose not to continue with the name. Instead, we wanted to honor our Irish heritage by choosing an Irish name. We chose Declan because of the meaning “man of prayer” and “full of goodness”. So fitting for my warrior!
Continually amazed by the support for Declan and our family. Woke up to this in the yard from our neighborhood, followed by a 30 minute parade for Declan. Thank you is not enough, but THANK YOU to each and every person who joins us on this journey!
