Albert Einstein once said that 'insanity' was 'Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting to achieve different results'. I have lost all trust in BC Public Health. Can't even call them "leaders."
The last point I would make is that BC Public Health has done an awful job of testing and tracing school children. So they have no valid data on school transmission.

Policymakers shouldn’t be trying to manage COVID-19 as if it were seasonal influenza. It’s not and never will be. SARS-CoV-2’s greater transmissibility leads to faster viral evolution. This means waves of disease throughout the year, rather than a single winter COVID season. 🧵
Situational awareness: Children between 2-4 years and 5-9 years account for more than 50% of reported hospitalizations in Canada as of November 19, 2022.

It's January 2022, and a Minister of Health for a jurisdiction of more than 5 million still claims that N95 respirators don't offer much additional protection against Covid than other types of masks. 🙄
Why does
@adriandix
refuse to follow the science on airborne transmission?
Dr. Reka Gustafson, a public health official in Canada, wrongly believes that:
1) Covid isn't stressing our healthcare system
2) Masks cause harm
3) Avoiding covid is bad for your health
4) Most people in hospital who test positive aren't there from covid, only with it.

The goal of public health should be to keep people from getting sick in the first place. Not only do we want to prevent people from suffering the short- and long-term effects of illness, our communities and economies suffer when people get sick.

By refusing to accept that SARS-CoV-2 spreads through aerosols, all 🇨🇦public health officials put children & educators [and their families & communities] at risk of repeated COVID infections, and now measles in schools.
What's next, TB?
Today I am tabling the Improving Air Quality for Our Children Act, 2023.

Parents with young children will tell you they bring home viruses! Where did the children get

in unsafe BC schools. Worse after March 11, masks were removed. This is not the schools' fault it is the adults in charge who failed and continue to fail BC children.
#LongCovid
Third, anytime physicians and nurses use their voices, you should take notice. They're putting themselves professionally at risk, think hospital privileges, gaslighting and more. I stepped up for same reason I became a physician bcse I care and believe together we can do better.
Could not agree more with
@dgurdasani
. I would suggest that anyone in 2022 who still considers SARS-CoV-2 spread by droplet should NOT be listened too. No matter the title they hold.
@DrFiliatrault
If there's one place that's even more in the dark ages on evidence on school transmission and mitigations, and school policy than England- it's BC. As expected the misinformation comes directly from those who should be protecting children & communities.

here are some alternative threads showing

's impact on immunity, long after the acute infectious phase. Current situation has nothing to do with pandemic precautions and the made up concept of "immunity debt."
In 2023, any public health official who does not acknowledge that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne and that breathing and talking are aerosol generating, that public health official puts the health of all British Columbians at risk.
Public health is based on 3 Ps: Promoting health & well being, Protecting health and Preventing illness and disease for all, starting with the most vulnerable.
For if the most vulnerable are protected then everyone is.
There is NO Public Health in BC.
The job of Public Health is to properly inform the public.
I'll elaborate in this 🧵.
@adriandix
and
@shirleybond
- Let's please put politics aside and meet. We can figure out a way to educate the public more effectively to keep everyone healthy. 1/9
“The people running the show don’t know the show they’re running,” said Gandhi. “They’re trying to solve it miles away from where the solutions really are.”
Dr. Henry starts by claiming we "saw the Omicron wave coming at us" and started "early" with precautions to lower community spread. Restrictions on gatherings, stadiums, etc. will be extended to February 16th.
“The whole pandemic has been a political response & so no political party wants an inquiry, because it would be an inquiry into how they mismanaged the pandemic,”
@DrFiliatrault
said, pointing to snap B.C. & federal elections in fall 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Meanwhile in BC, “we don’t see a rise in admissions, ICU and deaths…” says the PHO. 3.5 years into this and has yet to learn: precautionary principle, 2 steps ahead of the virus, exponential growth, airborne, can’t vax your way out of this pandemic, etc.
Hmm, not so mild after all.
#Omicron
Obviously this "living with it" is highly dependent on it not killing you first.
