Just stop for a moment and applaud the legend, who at 84 years old, just broke her age (AGAIN!) in the U.S. Senior Women’s Open. 80 strokes today for the Great Gundy, Joanne Gunderson Carner. 👊🇺🇸
Belly laughs, high fives, fist bumps and a night full of truly priceless memories with Judy, Brandie, Pat and Juli. And absolutely delicious home cookin’ by Mrs. Inkster!
When I turned pro in ‘87, I gave myself 2 years to get my
@LPGA
card or look to other options, one of which was aviation. Yesterday I began to scratch that itch with my first flying lesson! Not sure where it will lead but, thanks to Instructor Phil, this was phenomenal!
This is what heart looks like. My namesake, Dottie Ardina, lost her playing privileges for ‘22 and then went 8 grueling rounds at the
#QSeries
to become an LPGA member again… and got her card ON THE NUMBER. So proud of you, girl!
Took everything Mother Nature handed us over 4 days and put a PGA Championship on the air that will be remembered for a long time. Oak Hill was absolutely superb and the story lines— complex and endless. Bravo, team!
So sad learning of the passing of Bobby Knight. Coming off a mega-low in my
@LPGA
career, I met Coach in June of ‘96 in Fort Wayne. He said, “You could play for me.” I said, “No, Coach. I’d be a bricklayer.” He said, “Yes, you could. You’re tough enough.” Turned my season around.
Can’t thank our technical team
@CBSSports
and BSI Communications enough for their effort to source my new headset/microphone combo. Major deal to integrate it for a major championship and their efforts/professionalism are mega appreciated. Hands free!! Woohoo!
I’m pretty darn sure that poorly considered forward tee boxes with lousy tree maintenance practices are more frustrating to the recreational player than a golf ball roll back of a couple of yards. Entire avenue to the green blocked here.
1st time back to Chicago to cover

@Zurich_Classic
, Cameron Smith literally could not utter a word after winning with partner Jonas Blixt. Completely overcome with emotion. Today he delivers the Champion’s speech and interviews with complete comfort and humor. Well done and so well played.
So blessed to call this man a colleague, housemate, mentor and above all, a dear friend. I join the legions of many on “First Team All Verne” in saying, “Yes, Sir!” (and thank you ❤️)
80 years since these beaches were stormed. May we never forget their fears, their bravery, their valor and their sacrifice for the freedoms so many take for granted today.
This “green thumb” is beyond honored. Thought the
@GCSAA
was contacting me to record a video for the award winner. What an absolutely amazing surprise. Thank you!
Dottie Pepper, former LPGA Tour professional and current television golf broadcaster, has been named the recipient of the 42nd Old Tom Morris Award, presented by GCSAA. Pepper will be honored Jan. 31 at the Sunrise Celebration as part of the 2024
#GCSAAConference
in Phoenix.
The blessings are endless. A grandmother with whom I share the same first name (both were Dorothy!) and was nearly 100 years old when she passed last night. Pretty sure she shared some top-secret gems with Rupert, too. Rest in God’s peace, Gram.
Confused by a tie in the
@TheSolheimCup
(or any other team matches, for that matter)? The solution is simple: the holder of the Cup begins the week with a 1/2 point advantage.
The focus on the first tee sizzle while making it impossible to follow the actual substance of the matches out on the course already is maddening. So much emphasis on growing women’s golf, show the GOLF.
And that’s before we even get to the commercial load, graphics, etc.
A simple post of gratitude… for a break after 10 straight weekends away, farmers, farmers markets, strawberries that are red all the way through (and make you drool!), sitting on the porch with your dog, sleeping in your own bed and grace undeserved.
Redemption, revival, rebirth… whatever you care to call it…
@RickieFowler
showed endless resilience in returning to the winner’s circle. A phenomenal performance & even better perspective! Congratulations 👏👏
A tribute to a friend, a mentor, a captain and game changer as Judy Rankin begins her final regular golf broadcast this weekend. “Back to you, Judy.” Full blog at .
Imagine in ‘18 there was not a Section 2 Girls Golf Championship in New York State for teams and individuals to qualify for the state championship. Today was the 4th time these young women had that chance (missed 1 for Covid) and the medalist shot 62!!! So happy for these girls!
Impossible to resist posting this on National Dog Day: Rupert at Pebble Beach during the

Wheels up tomorrow am for Muirfield Village where 25 years ago during the Solheim Cup Friday Fourballs Brandie Burton fell in the creek at the 11th hole. Lost a golf shoe, won the match. Lifetime memories with a forever pal! Scene of the Grime!
4 1/2 years since the
@USGA
and
@RandA
overhauled the Rules of Golf and its language. Watching the
@WalkerCup
and particularly missing “all square,” “dormie,” and above all, “hazard.” Still don’t get the “penalty area”’ when you don’t necessarily take a penalty shot.
That logo: ❤️. My Dad was signed and played major league ball as a

Another phenomenal week with the

team at “firm, fast and fair”Muirfield Village. Always a walk full of mega memories. See you all at the Travelers Ch. — summer break kicks off today for this foot soldier!
Huge respect for golf course superintendents, their families who sacrifice so much, their leadership, the way they make golf course magic happen on zero sleep and their dogs who run miles and miles and miles! Thank you 👏
Feeling like a celebrity today!! Got a like on this post from the great
@dottie_pepper
, 2024 Old Tom Morris winner and avid supporter of golf course superintendents! I guess I should give her a follow!! Thanks Dottie…Love your work!!
Not supposed to be a fan as a broadcaster but how can you not be a fan of Scottie Scheffler when he boils his success down to “just trying to be a light.” Genuine.
Basics of match play: make your opponent WIN holes, not be conceded. Baffled at the number of these occasions over the last two weeks of the

and
@rydercup
. Can we get Joanne Carner to conduct a clinic??
Walking w/
@Keegan_Bradley
as he won a tournament that meant so much to him & his family will be a highlight of this season and beyond. Aunt Pat gave a lot of insight during an emotional conversation this morning, too. And I always admired your golf swing!
Spent 3 hours walking all 18 holes, 1 on 1, w/ Gil Hanse at Southern Hills yesterday. Best major prep imaginable to understand the big & small of the “historic renovation”(his words), stream recovery, the hydronics system, modernizing bunker placement, turf grass health & more.
Thrilled for Ryan Brehm. Wins his first
@PGATOUR
event when his back was completely against the wall after personal loss and illness/injury—and with his wife at his side for every shot. Could not happen to a nicer guy. Congrats, Ryan!
Fun watching the resumption of play early this morning at
@THEPLAYERSChamp
.
Important to remember none of this happens w/o the technicians and grounds crew who have been hard at work since the middle of the night. Appreciate you all!
@GCSAA
Our game lost another great one yesterday w/ the passing of Tom Weiskopf. Remember going to the range at a
@ChampionsTour
event just to watch him and then had the opportunity to work with him on a couple of
@TheOpen
Championships. So much knowledge of competition & course design.
Special treat to work with

Firm believer that dogs make golf a better place. Using our (unfortunately) snowless conditions to work on-course with Rupert… no greens, no bunkers, voice/clicker commands. Terrific exercise in the lead up to
@GolfonCBS
in 3 weeks for his human, too!
Thank you all. Such a fan of everything you do for the game and it was a treat to be with you this morning. Thank you also for the amazing donations to

Watching the re-air of the

Because it is National Puppy Day… good time to share the day I first met Rupert. It was the day after the completion of the November 2020 Masters. He’s owned my heart ever since. 💚💜
That is our “JZ.” He rocks it week in and week out along with an entire camera/drone team following the lead of the legendary Steve Milton. They make all of us—and the action they cover—look spectacular!
Not possible to overstate the relevance and powerful emotions of spending time with a good friend this afternoon tending to our 9/11 memorial at home in Saratoga Springs. Everyday gardening for some; not for me.

Borderline speechless. Finally had time to properly unpack more of my mentor’s golf library after another recent gift from his family. Mr. Pulver acquired this volume, “Hints to Golfers” by Niblick, exactly 100 years ago today. Can’t make it up if you tried.
Thank you, Adam. Was blessed to have played the LPGA Tour when I did and to learn from so many of the 13 founders. They are now all gone but their legacy, going back to 1950, speaks to their passion, vision and resilience— competitors but still looking out for each other. RIP
When asked a question about LPGA founder Marlene Hagge, who died yesterday, CBS’s
@dottie_pepper
teared up in talking about what she and the other LPGA founders meant to the game. Really cool moment.
#RIP
Morning fly-by to Oak Hill C.C. to check out the restoration work done by Andrew Green. It’s like Donald Ross was there for every step!
Nothing short of spectacular and cannot wait to return for the

When you bring your dad as a guest to an outing in Toledo, Ohio— where he played the bulk of his minor league baseball, including the 1968 Int’l League Championship, and he absolutely shines with the media requests! ❤️
So much analysis of
@CocoGauff
’s win yesterday in the Women’s U.S. Open is centered on her “team.” I think the major moment was early in the 2nd set when you could see her say “just stop” to their input and used her grit and experience to dig for the victory. She made her own way
Looks like I’ll be stopping by Bar Cecil in Palm

Thank you for a special day, your commitment to providing academic scholarships for young women and top-notch championships. Many great memories from my amateur career and the WWGA was an important part of that time.

A “Feel Good on Friday” post for the game of golf.
My mentor, George Pulver, PGA, planted these seeds almost 50 years ago at Brookhaven GC in rural Saratoga County, NY with a young girl who fell in love with the game.
Today the course he designed is heaving with junior golfers,

Red arrow points to my beloved mentor, George J. Pulver, age 18.
Thank you, Mr. Pulver, and every other veteran who has fought for our freedoms—never to be taken for granted.
I say this with the greatest admiration for my good friend, Steve Sands, but it only took 4 days in the booth with “Sandbox” at the Wyndham Ch. for Camilo Villegas to realize there was A LOT more golf ahead of him. Congrats, Camilo! And who is your next wingman, Sands? 😉
10 days ago I did an outing in WV; one of the supporters said he wanted to send me a few items from his time volunteering at the ‘94 Solheim Cup at the Greenbrier. This amazing collection arrived yesterday. Never underestimate the power of the game for those who love it.
