Keano visited Marymount recently, my 94 year old Nan took the chance to ask him how his knees were holding up now 😂
Say what you like about Roy, he is a class act for supporting local causes like Marymount over the years 👌
You don’t have to support Sinn Féin to be offended by this
They’ve no way of knowing how many SF voters have come out
What they mean is working class areas have turned out
And that high working class vote, is reported as a threat, and with crime scene tape imagery

In Cork if you get a leak in the office and you call a plumber, they send a fella who scored against Bayern Munich in the UEFA cup and won 2 All Irelands ⚽️🏐 🇮🇩
This is not a bad news story.
This is not an oversupply.
This is an opportunity to finally end oversized classrooms of 30+, and help give us the primary education system we all want
And we would so be foolish to miss that opportunity
Tháinig Nóinín Ruane-McAteer Ní Laoghaire chugainn inné 7/7/21.
She is as beautiful, like her truly amazing mother, & we are all v much in love.
Her brothers dying to see her. Thank you to nurses & midwives in CUMH for their support
Much as I regret it, I don't believe the Dept of Ed when they say schools will open as normal on the 11th.
I think most school staff and parents feel the same.
It is difficult to see how this can happen safely. If the Minister has advice to the contrary, she needs to outline it
Reading about the protest about Leo Varadkars home. Protesting at someone’s home is reprehensible in and of itself. The added layer of homophobia that is plainly present makes it all the worse. There is no excuse nor justification
Many women in the last year have received devastating news alone & been denied partner support in labour & birth
I've been the partner waiting in the carpark, looking up at hospital window while she sat inside scared &alone
The harsh restrictions must go.

The minority of Irish Fans who booed during god save the queen last night are a disgrace. That lack of respect and tolerance is the antithesis of republicanism.
Today is polling day but as it happens, is also my birthday 🤫
Not that this should in any way influence your voting preference. But if u can manage a No1 that would be sound😉
Cake was gas, thank you to my family who’ve been incredible through this all ❤️

Minister Norma Foley won’t come before Education committee to discuss School Transport.
Even though she was given no less than 5 possible dates.
Parents up and down the country are tearing their hair out and Minister Foley is hiding. No respect for children left high & dry
I would ask people to honestly think, if it was your son, or brother, would you want that attack being seen by thousands of people, and risk seeing it every time you open social media? not in a million years.
Have a heart, and think for god sakes. Id say the same for any case.
Sinn Fein's Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire urged public not to share horrific video of teen in Co Cork
The complete & utter anti-Irish scum in Sinn Féin now, attacking the Irish, not wanting public to be informed about the nature of mass-immigration

1 in 5 Primary School children are in a class over 30. Highest class sizes in Europe. Yet in the midst of a pandemic, no attempt to reduce class sizes. A real disappointment
4 weeks to recruit, plan, and even build is huge ask of schools; all due to departments delays
Minister Foley refused to acknowledge in her speech that commitments were made to frontline staff, including education staff.
Those commitments have been broken. That is the simple reality.
We stayed to watch Limerick lift Liam McCarthy this afternoon.
As much as today stung, I told our 10 year old that hard as it was we had seen one of the greatest hurling teams of all time.
And hard as today was I would spend 90€ time and time again for to see such a team
While I have many political differences and did not vote for him today, I would extend chomhghairdeas to my constituency colleague
@MichealMartinTD
it is of course a proud day for him, his wife Mary and his family and I wish him well
Very blasé attitude. If there are clusters, it certainly won’t be because of Principals, Teachers, & Boards of Mgmt.
We have an education system that is overcrowded, underfunded, and understaffed.
The Tánaiste’s Govt gave schools a mere 4 weeks to somehow mitigate that.
”I guarantee you that in a few weeks’ time we’re going to see clusters occur in schools.”
Tánaiste,
@leovaradkar
, sees clusters of infections as inevitable.

❤️ Sé buzzing to be a big brother. Thanks to CUMH for looking after mammy & baby so well.
Have contacted Minister for Education seeking a briefing following this evenings news. There is a very clear absence of guidance for schools, & school staff regarding level 5. That needs to be addressed. I hope to discuss with Minister ASAP
An Irish man on a Delta flight from Dublin to New York has been charged after allegedly refusing to wear a mask, throwing a can that hit another passenger and exposing his buttocks to a flight attendant.
Just before Xmas Eimear had appt in early pregnancy unit for bleeding.
All was ok thankfully but we were so worried at time. This was as close as I could get.
Maternity restrictions are a constant source of stress & hurt for women & partners

Appalled to hear of a man spitting in a Garda's face last night and telling him he had Coronavirus.
Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. I understand he will be before the court today. That kind of carry on warrants serious sanction.
Unbelievably proud today, Eimear headed to Limerick this morn for the first 5 wk teaching block of Doctorate in Clinical Psychology which will make her a Clinical Psychologist in 3yrs.
Going to miss you lots, & so will our babas but we are your biggest fans & are so proud ✊🏼👩🏻🎓
Have just tested positive for COVID. Doing ok thankfully. Had been self isolating anyway due to cases in family (all doing ok).
My offices are open as ever & I will continue to work from home to the best extent possible, so feel free to get in touch. Thanks everyone
Have contacted Minister for Education seeking meeting in coming days
Significant concerns among school staff & families that cannot b dismissed. Many issues that must b addressed urgently if schools are to reopen safely
Opposition will b constructive but she must engage with us
“When in government we guarantee free Scarface and Che Guevara posters for every student’s bedroom” - Sinn Féin education spokesperson Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, gatecrashing Harris’ briefing.
Unbelievable comment from Eamon Ryan on
@morningireland
. We have been repeatedly promised a plan for the reopening of schools - now he says this won’t be announced for “a week or TWO”?? This would be completely unacceptable, schools back in a month!
How can the Government say with a straight face that keeping schools open is a priority when they have REMOVED any prioritisation for school staff?!?
Keeping schools open safely has been v challenging for staff. This is their thanks. Dreadful
🚨 The

vaccine rollout is to get an overhaul - appointments will be issued only on the basis of age, once people with underlying conditions/living in vulnerable settings are done. Means no priority for those in specific jobs, e.g. Gardai/teachers.
@VirginMediaNews
Taoiseach confirmed to
@MaryLouMcDonald
in Dáil that Govt knew about these errors for a week.
The second round of CAO offers went out last Wednesday. Did the Govt proceed with the second round knowing the problems? Without telling anyone? Unacceptable if so.

Government has said Education is a priority for them.
They could show it by prioritizing School Staff for the vaccine.
If we want to get all children back in school and safe to do so, we need to vaccinate our school staff ASAP
@sinnfeinireland
Decision to adjourn the entire Dáil due to a Minister Self isolating, is in stark contrast to how schools are expected to function & how school staff are meant to treat risk.
I wish Min Donnelly good health. However, we have plenty of work to be getting on with.
@sinnfeinireland
I will tonight be raising in Dáil my significant concerns regarding Department of Education and NCSE's new approach to Assessment of Needs. It is a passing of the buck and puts schools in an unfair position.
Debate will take place approx 11pm, but will upload video tomorrow
Tomorrow night at 8pm at Rochestown Park, Mary Lou McDonald, Pearse Doherty, Eoin O’Broin and David Cullinane will outline our vision for a Government for change
A better Ireland is possible. Change is possible. Come along and hear how. All welcome
@CorkSinnFein
@sinnfeinireland
Opening schools isn’t just about reopening this week
It’s about keeping them open safely
To do that we need more safety measures
Parents, schools, and opposition have been calling for this for mths. Govt ignored it
This time Govt need to do their job & deliver safe schools
Return of Leaving Certs to schools is premature. Now is not the time.
They should be certainly a priority category, if there is going to be a phased return. Keep it under review
However, we'd need to see significant change in the numbers to be confident it is safe & necessary
Deeply upsetting news from Carrigaline last night, truly shocking incident. Am aware of videos of incident circulating. Out of respect to the victim, please don’t share. If you have information please go to Gardaí. Wishing the victim a full recovery, I hope justice will be done.
This is a failure of Government.
It is a failure with serious & profound consequences.
Chaos, miscommunication, failure to properly engage and most of all failure to plan and prepare.
Twice in as many weeks a mess has been made of this. Unacceptable
🚨 The two trade unions representing teachers in the special needs arena want Thursday’s school return to be postponed - and for some sort of structured remote learning instead
@VirginMediaNews
I see the Indo are pushing ads attacking Sinn Féin because of our policy on fee paying schools…
We make no apologies for our policy.
It’s v simple - we don’t think schools who charge thousands of euros a year should be subsidised by taxes paid by low & middle income workers
My blood is boiling reading this. What a disgrace.
These families stood up to state to get what their children were entitled to
Instead of helping them, state goes behind their backs, snooping & trying to undermine them
Unethical, dishonest, appalling
€400k for a house in Cork
Affordable!?!
Even as a max, anything remotely near that is beyond the reach of the vast vast majority.
'Affordable.'
A joke. Completely absurd.
The next band would see affordable houses capped at €400,000 in South Dublin, Fingal, Cork and Galway cities and Wicklow
It's €350,000 for Cork County, Galway County, Limerick City & County, Kildare and Meath
Today 100 years ago, Tadhg Barry was killed by British Forces at Ballykinlar British Army camp, County Down.
His funeral was one of the largest Cork ever saw. He was a remarkable man, a republican leader, a dedicated socialist & Trade Unionist, a hurling pioneer
Im v lucky to still have my 2 grans to visit
After 18mths without seeing either, in recent days I not only met them again but also got to introduce them to their latest great grandchild.
The joy a baby can bring, the energy and adoration they spark is hard to quantify.

Leaving to one side the debate about the particular phrase used during the week, this kind of imagery and caricature is at best unhelpful & provocative, and you could reasonably say offensive

Have contacted the Minister for Educations office seeking an urgent update on work of stakeholders group.
The first meeting agreed to review public health measures. But we’ve heard nothing since & schools opening in days.
Department need to act with urgency to protect schools
The Taoiseach has questions to answer. He spent the weekend backing Frances Fitzgerald to the hilt. And hitting out at anyone raising legitimate questions.
This was despite having the documents since Friday.

The maternity restrictions are so harmful & unjustifiable
Pre-pandemic access for partners is not an unreasonable ask - I will continue to pursue this with the Minister to ensure all women are supported, as is their right
#BetterMaternityCare
This is a desperate decision. Absolutely gutted for leaving Cert students.
The Minister has refused to listen to students, & failed to understand the level of disruption. Tradition should not trump sense or fairness
Will be raising directly with Minister in Dáil tomorrow night
There is something very jarring and upsetting at being at a planning hearing, something often so mundane, and to be hearing disputes as to the location of the burial grounds of hundreds of children. Grim
🗳 Voted earlier at Glasheen BNS. The weather may get v bad in the evening 🌧 so you may want to get it out of the way & enjoy the rest of your Saturday!
Every vote will count, change is possible, but its crucial that we get a high turnout. Úsáid do vóta, úsáid do ghuth! 🗳
Nothing, absolutely nothing, can justify this, or the worry it would have caused her, her husband and 2 small children. There’s no excuse under the sun. Appalling
The Marina market is one of the best things in Cork at the minute. I recommend it to anyone I know visiting
Appreciate proper planning has to be followed, but this would be such a huge loss.
I’d urge the council to engage with owners, to try find a solution to save the market
Sending people who have worked hard all their lives to a dole queue at the age of 65, because they are unable to continue with their physically demanding work, is wrong and unfair. Restoring the pension age to 65 is the fair thing to do, and it is the right thing to do.
Schools are not ultra safe. Hopefully that mantra is on the way out.
Schools are important. Enormously so.
THAT is the point.
So we should be throwing the kitchen sink at making them as safe as possible, including contact tracing & filtration
The whole country today is thinking of Aisling Murphy, her family, her community, her school & friends.
Their loss, their grief, their pain must be unimaginable.
She deserved better. The women of Ireland deserve better.
Spoke to the Minister for Education a short time ago. Rumours circulating today regarding imminent school closures are not correct. However, I urged him to keep it under active consideration and to take all steps necessary to ensure spread COVID 19 is minimised.
Eimear found this the other day.
Sometime during lockdown I needed to do TV news via zoom and the laptop camera needed elevation.
Lockdown home studios required creativity! 📺 🪑

plan for Leaving Cert. Already being contacted by Students asking what this means for the Leaving Cert. Their key demand is clarity & certainty, this needs to be clarified immediately
Minister Foleys speech was very disappointing generally.
It had no real vision at all to transform our overcrowded, understaffed, and underfunded primary education system, and in area of special Education.
Vision & funding badly needed now after the damage done by pandemic.
We need urgent action to ensure that every child has an appropriate school place for September.
Yet incredibly the Govt has voted against our motion seeking emergency legislation to do just that.
They failed to plan, they are failing to act, they are failing these children
Last thought after tonight’s

The work that schools, principals, teachers and school staff have put in to get schools back safely is phenomenal. Go raibh míle maith agaibh
Certain commentators trying to demonise teachers and school staff should take stock and reconsider
Very many teachers and school staff are being affected by Covid.
Covid leave needs to reflect reality.
These changes are retrograde and concerning. Will be raising with the Minister ASAP
Huge change here.
Covid leave reduced from maximum 28 (if certified) to 10.
I was still completely unable to work on Day 11 and still testing positive on antigen.
I'd not be impressed if I caught covid in school to have to use sick leave to recover
Sinn Féin will bring a motion to the Dáil next week to call time on overcrowded classrooms.
Having some of the biggest class sizes in Europe has added to the challenge of reopening schools.
We must learn from the pandemic and take action now.
Minister Madigan claimed on

A powerful night last night. Thank you to everyone who came along, an incredible turnout.
This is a time of great change in Irish Politics, and last night was further evidence of the appetite. We will keep on talking, will keep on engaging, and keep on listening to you.
This is very concerning. What is the value of the app if it is going to disregarded so bluntly? Surely a close contact, is a close contact, full stop? We cannot have lower standards for school staff.
Will be raising with Minister for Education & Minister for Health & HSE
There’s no excuse for this kind of behaviour. People are entitled to have different points of view and indeed to be protest about any issue they choose. But no one, not Roderic, nor anyone else, deserves to have this outside their home
Masked men harass Minister Roderic O'Gorman by covering his home in unfounded propaganda banners this evening. And it appears stopping a car in his street. Is this where we are now? Is your home no longer a safe space? Where will this end?
Just voted against Leo Varadkar to become Taoiseach.
We know from his last term that Leo Varadkar has neither the ideas nor the policies to tackle the Housing Crisis and resolve the problems in Health
This is not the change we need - we need an election & a change of Government
She hasn’t answered the questions of parents, students, teachers, opposition TDs or anyone else for that matter, so I don’t know what the FF TDs were expecting...
This is a potential disaster. 131 days on, and no roadmap for reopening. Minister needs to tell us the plan, now

Today we remember Joe Murphy of Pouladuff rd who died on hunger strike this day 100 yrs ago, like Terence McSwiney. He is an enormous source of pride in Corks Southside. Great credit to his family and local community who greatly increased awareness of his life in recent years
How does Government value Special Education?
⚠️ If a child can’t get place in a special class they will be segregated from peers in a ‘special education centre’
⚠️ huge staffing gaps in children’s disability network teams
⚠️ Still no announcement of SNA allocations in late May
Was reminiscing about 99 final after last weeks anniversary. Went looking for Kevin Murray's point from a ridiculous angle, which I always remembered as starting the fightback. Every bit the cracker I remember 😍👌 - seriously underrated hurler
