Looking forward to the Galway launch today of this groundbreaking book, which results from a conference held in Kyiv almost 3 years ago. My own contribution is a chapter devoted to the intersections of modern #Irish and #Ukrainian history

I should add that at the University of Coimbra there are three possible grades for a PhD and @egharji received the highest possible - summa cumme laude - for his stellar research and exceptional performance during his 3 hour defence.

Delighted to be a part of the €1million research project (DE FACTO) devoted to unrecognised states and funded by the Research Council of Norway. COVID-19 restrictions meant that our kick-off meetings took place online rather than in Oslo.

@BrigidLaffan Very strange decision @RadioBrendanRTE to have 1 hour discussion on #Ukraine with 4 person panel, none of whom, irrespective of other talents, are known for expertise on Ukraine. This is far too serious. Ukraine experts didn’t comment on immunology during COVID for good reason

On @trtworld today I emphasised how #Ukrainians ' incredibly strong and brave defence of their country has slowed the momentum of the #Russian invasion. Ukrainians are fighting for their homes, their neighbourhoods, their futures and are highly motivated.

My latest contribution for @DCU_Brexit_Inst ... “Don’t Mention the Poll”: The Good Friday Agreement and À la Carte Consent One cannot credibly present oneself as a supporter of @BelfastAgmt while rejecting one of its basic tenets – the border poll.

Despite public funding academic research has been hidden behind paywalls guarded by private companies. The current dysfunctional system can't be reformed, @Abiquitous argues, and so he's calling for a revolution. via @researchwhisper

#Palestine "Ireland has a longstanding policy of empathising with victims of injustice,” says Ó Beacháin, citing Ireland’s protests against apartheid-era South Africa "that goes to our own history, which is marked by imperialism and settler-colonialism”
