A woman with a baby was reported to Tusla by a DP centre manager. He told her he could do it long before he did it, saying her baby would be taken from her. She was terrified. If ppl hadn’t already alerted Tusla to the centre’s lack of babycare conditions he might have succeeded

A few months ago Leo Varadkar said no asylum seeker was forced to enter the DP system. Yesterday NPHET said any asylum seeker who can’t self-isolate can be transferred to City West. That’s 7500 ppl approx. The level of either ignorance or obfuscation at highest level is stunning

Many of the ppl who received letters on Fri giving them 5 days to leave the state or face deportation are ppl who submitted their original application in 2017 without any legal advice. They were given 20 days to return the 80-page IPO form. Refugee legal aid system was swamped.

Today ppl who were involuntarily transferred from Hatch Hall #DirectProvision centre Dublin to Carrick-on-Shannon 2 mths ago are being involuntarily transferred again - to Milltown Malbay Co. Clare where a support group is organising to make them feel welcome #EndDirectProvision

Luckily, the Tusla investigator was able (and willing) to correlate the malicious report with others made by him against residents transferred from the centre previously, and found no evidence of bad parenting, but lots of evidence of no baby-development facilities in the centre.

Last year a refugee arrived in Ireland less than 10 wks after waking from a 3-month coma. The person had a fractured skull (visible dent), blind in one eye, one leg couldn’t bend & one arm couldn’t raise. The person never got a vulnerability assessment. @rodericogorman @HMcEntee

I was doing a lunchtime show in Bewleys Cafe Theatre 2004 when 27th amendment results came out. A Nigerian guy was working there bringing up the soup & sandwiches. He asked me for the result. When I told him 80% voted for it he burst into tears. He knew it was racism in action
