Dogs can pant for a few different reasons, and one of them is exercise. Amazing how none of all these dogs are barking, it's silent except for the sound of 100 steam trains 😄

@allyzielinski As a vet I disagree, it's a personal choice. They can be heavily sedated with the owner present, to the point where they are almost unconscious. Then taken away so the owner doesn't have to watch. For my dogs, I choose to even do the act myself.

@shannonrwatts I think this is nice, it is always good to communicate things to dogs in any way you can. They need simple cues like this to know what's going on. The happiest dogs I see are the ones that have owners who try hard to understand what they are thinking. They don't just assume

@contextdogs When the dog attacks the blanket, it's an example of REDIRECTED AGGRESSION. This is where the actual target of aggression is out of reach, so the dog attacks whatever is within reach. This can cause people to be bitten by their own dogs who didn't intend to bite them!

Bhutan has reportedly sterilised all their stray dogs. This is the single greatest thing a country with stray dog populations can do for the welfare of the dogs. My (controversial) opinion is that the feeding of stray dogs and treating their illnesses is often NOT good for the

@TheFigen_ For those who don't know, this dog is being trained to do this in the video. You can even see the padding on the man's arm where the dog is trained to direct their bite.

@dog_feelings @dog_rates Surprised there weren't some carrots left out for the reindeer too! My dog loves eating leftover carrots.

@spectatorindex This is an unhappy dog. You would think after the second bite they would see the pattern and do something about it. The poor dog needed help!

I think the natural dogs look better in EVERY SINGLE CASE. It's crazy that people can think they look better mutilated.

@contextdogs Dogs can sense danger from smelling if you are fearful. The first dog didn't like the vacuum to begin with, so was just looking for an excuse to attack it. The second one knew there was no real threat, but was a bit confused at the strange behaviour!

This dog is great at reading the body language of the fearful dog, and responds by giving them space. This allows the fearful dog to trust the larger dog. Giving space to fearful animals is the best way to be their friend 😌 oh and tasty snacks can help too! 😉

@NiallHarbison This is beautiful! What a wonderful homage to Tina! My old rescue dog Oscar was similar, in that he was also skin and bones when I got him. How satisfying is it seeing them enjoy having a full belly and putting on weight!?! 😊

@contextdogs When different species of animals grow up together from a young age, they form the same social group. This is the best way to get them to get along well with each other. However, I do worry about the welfare of theses animals, seeing the state of the enclosure floor and walls.

More exaggerated movements and dramatic pauses from this goofy dog. Note the bum tuck when running, another telltale sign of play behaviour!

@darafaye It is terrible that some people try to justify that a dog (or any animal) can voluntarily consent to this kind of thing. NO THEY CAN'T. It's like saying a pedophile saying a child can consent. There is no excuse or justification.

I've had a few well meaning people message me about another famous dog on X - worrying that the dog isn't being well cared for because she isn't being walked. However, I have myself helped many dogs over the years by recommending they aren't walked! Here are just two reasons why

@Rainmaker1973 Just because you CAN do something, it doesn't mean you SHOULD. Like shocking a dog to stop it from barking, or making a bike with square wheels. Both these things are terrible ideas, but at least one of them is harmless!

As a vet who sees mostly anxious dogs for my work, it's not often I get to have one of my patients jump up onto my lap for cuddles during our consultation! It was my lucky day! This little Tenterfield terrier is a very good boy, but sometimes tests the patience of his owner. I

Great examples of play body language here. The dog is asking to play by keeping their distance, and signaling with play bows and exaggerated movements, with regular pauses for dramatic effect! It makes me happy that the Rottweiler said yes.

@NiallHarbison This is so great! Every dog sterilised is preventing countless puppies from suffering from lack of nutrition, disease, and insufficient territory to survive. I'm glad you do the other PR work to get the funds for this. Desexing isn't as "sexy" but it's more important overall.
