I’m no fan of some liberals calling folks they don’t like ‘Russian stooges’ or ‘Russian assets’ but, come on, if country X illegally invades country Y & you keep viciously attacking country Y & not country X, fair to say you support, or at least have a soft spot for, country X.

is a wonderful history of anti-democratic, authoritarian and violent rhetoric by those in government and its supporters on the right. This history is rarely talked about but I’d essential.

"When the baby is old enough, they send it to school, where it spends twelve years being taught lies about how the world works so that one day it will be able to watch CNN and say 'Yes, this makes perfect sense' instead of 'This is ridiculous'"

If Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris were as progressive as Sanders I would support them but they aren’t. They also don’t have the popularity and support Sanders has. He’s he only one to show the country the way a progressive should govern, that I’ve seen so far.
Well you have to understand difference between the orthodox Marxist revolutions in the 19th early 20th centuries with the goal of the democratic republic and the post-1917 national liberation movements after the Russian tragedy, former colonial countries.
Some Marxists in the West see that nationalism has played an important role in the Chinese/Vietnamese/Korean/Cuban revolutions and conclude that we must build a revolutionary nationalism in the imperialist heartlands. Understandable but incorrect. There is no class basis for it.

Lol you're funny. I've watched her plenty and she hardly focuses on anything substantial. On twitter all she does is attack the left.
Just because not for supporting certain policies does not mean it's to help countries become democratic or stable. It's in the oligarchy's interest. Foreign aid doesn't always but often creates client states and spheres of influence. There's a diff btw Capitalism n neoliberalism.
We give foreign aid because its in our interest to help countries develop into stable, free market, democratic and peaceful societies. It's not a payment for supporting the President's politics or policies. And it's counterproductive to withdraw it as punishment.
This means demanding a democratic constitution that will take power out of the hands of the capitalist class, allow our class to defend itself, and provide the framework for the achievement of socialism and the emancipation of all humanity!
It’s not actually funny to those who can read Cyrillic because Яussiaи in Cyrillic does not = Russian in English written language. It just comes off as ignorant and not caring to represent a language appropriately.
When you write Russian Roulette like this: “яussiaи Roulette,” it looks really funny to people who can read Cyrillic/Russian. In Serbian, USA is “сад.” Feel free to use in your book titles and cable news graphics about how scary the US is.
I really enjoyed the panel. As someone who agrees with Gil Schaeffer’s analysis on the US political system and the need to demand democracy immediately, I hope this panel will lead to new conversations.
I am grateful to all three panelists for agreeing to participate in such a stimulating discussion and to everyone who attended. I just thought I'd throw in my two cents (hampered by character limit) to keep the conversation going.
Literally supporting an ongoing apartheid regime with an illegal blockade and military occupation against indigenous Palestinians. Stop pretending to be dumb and covering for US Empire interests. It’s disgusting.
Been told by veteran reporters, peace activists, propaganda had not been this bad since 1950s. Maybe after 9/11 but far worse than Iraq War refusal to allow for dissent.
At what point is Congress going to look into these paid propagandists here to disrupt the left and push fascist conspiracies? Some of the funding has shown up on tax returns being funneled through "journalism awards" by assadists. These guys are toxic and spreading disinfo.
It won’t if we center the movement on a democratic constitution and don’t lose that as our ideological center. When Nixon went to China, and the Vietnam War ended, SDS lost their purpose, when WWIII was avoided the New Left lost its center.
@donaldp1917
I find this so interesting. Kinda like David Horowitz, great historian of US Empire in the 60s only to become a reactionary decades later. Benny Morris writes an undeniable history of the creation of the modern state of Israel only to again become a reactionary.
Really goes to show you guys when you look closely, the Democratic Party meaning Dem Leadership don’t pursue policy based on principles or popular opinion, it’s all about maintaining the system wether than is the antidemocratic US Constitution or global US EMPIRE.
This is exactly why no one should ever listen HCR. Lying about the reality of the rules-based international order which is supposed to be international law but we know who wrote them, violates them and benefits from them. This is just US Empire propaganda at this point.
Important to remember that U.S. alliances and partnerships underpin the rules-based international order. Weaken the U.S. and you destabilize that order, opening the door for dictators with imperial ambitions. Everywhere.
Just to be clear Democracy, the Democratic Republic is a state form. What that state form consists of is universal and equal suffrage in a unicameral legislative body. It’s the foundation for socialism or whatever societal project the people want.

Reading a ton of Hal Draper’s archive on . Started with Marx on Democratic Forms of Government. Really excellently illustrates his strong principled belief in the democratic republic as the political tool for class struggle.
I want Hardball fans to know how I appreciate your faith in me. 2022 could be a great time to show what we’ve learned. I tried to warn we were headed too far left.
My god you’re lying to yourself and your followers if you believe Biden can’t pressure the Israeli government right now. It’s all political and you’ve been in politics long enough to learn that Harry.
@KyleKulinski
@POTUS
@JoeBiden
Wait, why are you attacking him? It’s obvious that Israel will not agree to a ceasefire no matter what. They’ve made that clear and that’s what he’s referencing. He can’t force Netanyahu to do it
If you don’t understand all of this is about US imperialism, you’re missing a lot of history, which goes back to 1945. Key, read Franz Schurmann’s Logic of world power.
That being said, there’s a set of facts that led us here. Hamas is not the force with overall military power and advantage, backed up by the worlds only global empire. They don’t have a systemic process of continued ethnic cleansing and pogroms. That’s Israel.
Neither Hamas nor the Israeli government have the best interest of their people in mind. This conflict produces so much harm to civilians and there’s no good outcome that won’t cause a tragic death toll
Yes Democrats and Republicans aren’t the same my ass. They have different masks but their goals are the same. They are”indispensable enemies” who need each other for survival, to maintain the antidemocratic constitutional system that terrorizes the American majority.
BREAKING: Biden admin will waive 26 laws to build border walls through South Texas wildlife refuge & nearby communities.
Biden's DHS will take “immediate action" to speed wall construction, casting aside protections for endangered species, clean water, Indigenous graves & more.
@NathanJRobinson
Nathan why don’t you write about the institutional hurdles the Left must overcome to pass the agenda we want. An undemocratic Senate, an Electoral College, the use of judicial review in the Supreme Court for any legislation they don’t like.
This is a more accurate view of SDS it was most active after 1968 grew as the intensification against the imperialist War in Indo-China grew. But factions like weatherman had little to do with SDS’ downfall.
Ppl have awful historigraphy with SDS. If it's national crisis was so bad, then how come the largest student mobilization happened a year later in 1970? how come thousands were fed post-69 into a decade + of revolutionary organizing from their chapters?
