Our legal department’s pro bono program is what makes me most proud of my work at Amazon. Since 2014, the team has devoted more than 52,000 hours, partnering with law firms and nonprofits to provide access to justice for underserved people and communities.
Amazon hires from around the world, and we’re passionate about supporting employees and their families who have immigrated to the U.S. We urge Homeland Security and USCIS to issue all available green cards before the 9/30 deadline and stand ready to help.
Amazon is committed to ensuring access to high-quality computer science education globally. In India, we’re proud to expand our Amazon Future Engineer program in partnership with Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) Schools.
We are making strides toward our goal of powering our global infrastructure using 100% renewable energy. Today we’re announcing a new goal to make 50% of all Amazon shipments net zero carbon by 2030. And we’ll share carbon footprint data later this year to track our progress.
Honored to welcome President of Finland Sauli
@Niinisto
to Amazon HQ in Seattle today. Great discussions around the many priorities the people of Finland & Amazon share—including sustainability, secure digitalization, and enabling SMBs to easily access customers across the globe.
Workers are suffering hardships from the crisis, as jobs in hospitality, restaurants, and travel are lost or furloughed. Amazon is hiring to respond to increased demand, and we want those workers to know we welcome them on our teams until their past employer can bring them back.
To meet the demands of this unprecedented time, we’re offering employment opportunities to those who may now be out of work. And we’re recognizing our front line employees with increased pay.
Access to a quality education can make all the difference for a young person, and it shouldn’t be dependent on zip code or background. Grateful to our team and nonprofit partners supporting students and families through the Right Now Needs Fund.
We must protect everyone's right to vote. Amazon was the first in-house legal department to host its own Election Protection call center, with60+ pro bono volunteers working a 13-hour day to answer voter questions and resolve obstacles to voting. Thank you

I could not be prouder of our Amazon legal team for the amazing pro bono work they have done to help our communities. Congrats on being recognized twice by the Pro Bono Institute tonight for our programs to help immigrant children and homeless families.
I'm proud that over the last two decades
@Amazon
has consistently weighed in as an amicus curiae to argue in favor of marriage equality and LGBTQ+ civil rights in every federal and Washington state appeal that has ruled on these issues.
On the heels of
#Pride
, we’re honored to sign an amicus brief filed in three landmark
#SCOTUS
cases to protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination. It’s an important way for us to support our LGBTQ+ employees, customers, and communities.
Amazon applauds the D.C. federal court's decision on
#DACA
. We stand with
#DREAMers
and support Congressional action to solve this issue once and for all.
We're a nation of immigrants, and the U.S. should welcome the best and the brightest talent from around the world. Today we join some of the nation's largest employers in opposing the administration's improper efforts to limit legal immigration.
I'm excited for the potential of our Amazon Future Engineer program: grade school CS camps; CompSci courses in high schools across the country, and $40,000 scholarships + internships for the next CS generation. Looking forward to meeting these students!
One benefit of a downtown campus -- more than half of Amazon's Seattle workforce walks, bikes, carpools, or takes public transit to work instead of driving their own car. Speaking as a happy daily Metro rider, my company-sponsored Orca card may be the best job perk ever.
In a new partnership with
@KCMetroBus
, Amazon will fund 12,000 hours of increased bus service over two years on six of King County’s most traveled routes to downtown

Today was an opportunity for Amazonians to meet with City Council candidates to discuss critical issues. Excited to see the enthusiasm of our employees for tackling community problems. Thanks to the more than 40 campaigns who took the time to join us.

Thanks to the middle and high schools around the country who hosted Amazon lawyers and legal professionals to teach students about the civil rights movement. And kudos to to my Amazon Legal colleagues for making the time and effort to give back.
Concerned about working conditions at Amazon? There's a lot of misinformation out there. We have great jobs, with great benefits, at industry leading $15+/hr pay. But if you're concerned, do what our critics have refused to do - come see for yourself.
Providing pro bono legal services isn’t just an ethical obligation for Amazon’s legal team, it also gives us opportunities to learn more about the communities we serve. For

Our commitment to the Puget Sound region goes beyond creating jobs. Amazon is proud to work with local organizations to address issues like homelessness, affordable housing, and more—and we will continue working to build stronger communities.

The Climate Pledge and Amazon's Sustainability Report represent years of work and disciplined, complex analysis by our environmental scientists. Great to see that team's work unveiled today along with plans to meet the Paris Accords 10 years early. We hope others will follow.
Great to see the progress on Amazon’s downtown homeless shelter, in partnership with Mary’s Place. Looking forward to establishing the Amazon Legal pro bono clinic in the new building.
Awesome and inspiring work by the Amazon Justice League -- organizing and hosting our first pro bono legal clinic for
@MarysPlaceWA
families on our Seattle campus.
Amazon has long supported federal legal protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation & gender identity. Now is the time to enact them into law.
Amazon's proud to be one of 212 companies who endorse the Equality Act. We urge Congress to pass this bill to help ensure basic protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation & gender identity. Thank you

The new

It's great news that the USCIS, for the first time in years, issued all of its employment green cards in 2022. But there are still too many who have been waiting too long, so we will continue advocating for improvements that will address the backlog.
Much of my time outside work is spent hiking and being outdoors. I’m grateful for very moment and so lucky to be able to do this in the majestic PNW. Never take it for granted. Happy

The economic impact of COVID-19 will be difficult for everyone. But small businesses, non-profits, and the arts will be particularly hard-hit. I'm optimistic our community will unite to support these critical pieces of what make Seattle a great place to live and work.
Today, in an effort to help friends and neighbors in our South Lake Union community of Seattle, we’re creating a $5 million relief fund to provide cash grants to small businesses feeling the economic impact of COVID-19.
Excited to welcome more than 50 community leaders for a series of productive conversations at Amazon HQ. From affordable housing to education to transportation, today’s discussions focused on addressing major issues facing our city.
While Amazon has committed $2 billion to support affordable housing, there is more that the private sector and government can do together. We are encouraged by actions taken by

All political parties should agree—as do the country’s most successful corporations—that every American, regardless of economic status or zip code, deserves access to legal help. The private and public sectors must work together to ensure justice for all.

Amazon announced its $2B Housing Equity Fund to build or preserve 20,000 affordable homes earlier this year. We're excited to announce the next set of initiatives, which bring together public and private resources to bring more affordable housing to communities that need it most.
As part of the Housing Equity Fund, Amazon is committing $300 million to create 3,000 new affordable homes near public transit for families in Puget Sound, Arlington, and Nashville regions.

It’s been heartbreaking to witness the violent and tragic consequences of the war in Ukraine. Today, Amazon announced the creation of a humanitarian aid hub in Slovakia to quickly move relief supplies through the region to assist families and children displaced by the conflict.

An appropriate day for us all to be inspired by Mr. Rogers. Among his many words of wisdom: "There are three ways to ultimate success. The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind."
In NYC struggling families can avoid eviction 86% of the time. In Seattle, they avoid eviction less than 25% of the time. We can address a root cause of homelessness, at minimal taxpayer cost, by making common sense changes to our outdated eviction laws today.
Executives from 10 Washington-based businesses, including tech giants Amazon and Microsoft, support proposed eviction reforms. (Story by

These, sir, are fighting words. It is a great American tradition (at least in my family) to tour this great nation in search of worthy malted milkshakes. Without malt (and the Baskin Robbins recipe is a consistent favorite), ice cream isn’t worth drinking.

With news that the downtown Seattle Macy’s would shut down, the beloved Christmas star was thought to be in trouble. But in a touch of irony, Amazon, which now occupies six of the building’s eight floors, stepped up.
Congrats to our Amazon Studios Legal team, who partnered with the ACLU and recruited Amazon attorneys from LA and Seattle to teach middle school students about our gov’t and the Bill of Rights on Comstitution Day.

Really inspiring to spend time with some of the many successful small businesses and authors who reach customers directly through the Amazon store. Looking forward to some fun meetings with Congress tomorrow!
The right to vote is one of the most prized fundamental rights in our American democracy. Amazon supports state and federal policies that protect and expand those rights. And we oppose state laws aimed at restricting the ability of Americans to vote.
The Supreme Court's decision to prevent the arbitrary reversal of DACA is correct. Amazon is proud to have argued as an amicus on behalf of DREAMers. Now Congress needs to do its part and grant a certain path for these young people to plan their futures in this country.
Amazon applauds the Supreme Court's decision to protect DACA. DREAMers are critical to America’s family & economy, & we are grateful for those who've helped us create & innovate. We'll continue to push for laws that honor their contributions & allow a path to citizenship.
The unavailability of broadband to so many rural and underserved communities is a huge contributor to inequality of income and opportunity around the world. I’m pleased to see this progress on our initiative to help eliminate this barrier to participating in the digital economy.
