Liberal Democrat, trade unionist and human rights advocate. I like Roxy Music, Horse racing,
@ReadingFC
and
@Saracens
. 'While My Heart Is Still Beating.'
I see
#StarmerOut
is trending. What is the matter with people. The only alternative to a Tory government is a Labour one led by
@Keir_Starmer
and I know which one I prefer!
It is blindingly obvious that the only way to keep the Tories out of government for a long period of time is to introduce proportional representation. It would almost certainly mean a
@UKLabour
@LibDems
coalition but is that so bad?
I firmly believe that a government comprising
@UKLabour
@LibDems
and
@TheGreenParty
could bring about the change we need. Thinking about it gets me off to sleep at night.
Support for the
@LibDems
is growing again. When voters get a Liberal MP or councillor they see the benefits which is why their majority often increases as a result. We see this at every level.
#WinningHere
From what I am seeing
@adrianhughes0
is a brilliant young campaigner who will make a first class
@UKLabour
councillor. I really hope he is elected in May.
The great Jo Grimond was once asked if the Liberal vote was a protest vote. His response was 'Well there's a lot to protest about' true today as it was then.
@LibDems
When I became a postman in 1985 I joined a publicly owned organisation that was efficient, profitable and customer focused. That didn't last Royal Mail has been mismanaged for at least the last 30 years. That isn't the unions fault it's politicians and managers.
#StandByYourPost
At the last General Election Lib Dem candidate
@monicabeharding
cut the Conservative majority in Esher and Walton to just 2,743. Only a Lib Dem can defeat the Tories in the constituency next time.
It was a Liberal government that introduced pensions in 1909, it was the Liberal Party that put forward a radical plan to conquer unemployment in 1929 and it was a Liberal who wrote the plan in 1944 that led to the creation of the NHS.
@LibDems
are the heirs to that radicalism
Support for the
@LibDems
has been growing steadily in Mid Sussex. Their prospective parliamentary candidate
@AlisonEBennett
is the only one who can beat the Tory at the next
#GeneralElection
I caught the last 15 minutes of something called 'Call Jonathan Pie' on
@BBCRadio4
last night while waiting for the news. What are the BBC doing broadcasting such a programme. Sexist, foul language and totally inappropriate.
The
@LibDems
are back! A progressive non socialist alternative to the Conservatives and on course for big gains at the next General Election whenever it is called.
The Lib Dems are best placed to beat the Conservatives in Cheadle. We’re attracting supporters from all parties, both Labour and Conservatives to help get Lib Dem councillors and a Lib Dem MP elected here.
Question to my followers who support
@getprdone
@LibDems
and
@TheGreenParty
. If in the event of a hung parliament PR was on offer for Local Government and an elected Upper House of parliament with the Commons retaining FPTP would that be acceptable to you?
I do not aspire to elected office but I want to help as many
@LibDems
as possible voted in to local authorities, the devolved assemblies and parliament.
'The safe seat of Epsom and Ewell' I think
@helenemaguire
and the
@LibDems
would have something to say about that! Mhairi Fraser: the rising Tory force who was bowled over by Trump
Wokingham was historically seen as a safe Conservative seat but times have changed. The
@LibDems
came close to winning there in 2019 and can go one better next time.
🎥After a whirlwind by-election win in
#Eastbourne
, I hot-footed it over to the BBC studios to give my take on:
🏖Supporting our tourism industry
⚡️Lack of govt leadership on energy saving
🧡The Home Secretary’s “dreams” about deporting people
🗳 I mentioned our election win too!
Given my political history some might wonder why I am not with the
@TheGreenParty
. The answer is quite simple I am not a socialist anymore and the Greens are a socialist party. I am a Liberal now and for that reason I back the
@LibDems
.
#Liberal
#LibDems
Seeing all the brilliant
@LibDems
campaigners out and about gives me a real lift. I am confident we will see big gains in Mays local elections.
#Liberals
While the cabinet was being re-shuffled again yesterday, I was out talking to residents in
#Wincanton
. I’m doing a Residents Survey over the next few months across
#SomertonandFrome
to make sure I’m fully informed about all the concerns of local people.
#DemandBetter
I know there's a debate about a National Care Service, but these below are all great policies. I'm proud that the
@LibDems
make adult social care such a priority
The Labour Candidate describes his comments as "ignorant". The Green party Candidate has effectively withdrawn after "some regrettable social media posts".
I suggest that the good people of Rochdale support the Liberal Democrats in this By-Election.
DUP clearly worried lol.
And they should be. Numbers bear that out and they know it.
Lagan Valley is a changing place, a diverse place. It needs progressive, positive representation to match & Alliance will deliver that- we ran it close last time-this time we finish the job 💪

I am not a
@UKLabour
member but I have followed
@juliasuzanne76
for some time. She is just the type of person we need involved in policy making. Committed, experienced and passionate about social justice.
Starting to come to the conclusion that a
#ProgressiveAlliance
is only possible through an arrangement between
@LibDems
and
@TheGreenParty
. Labour are not going to come on board and some would argue that they are not progressives.
The Conservative majority in Guildford is just 3,337. The Lib Dem prospective parliamentary candidate for the constituency is
@ZoeFranklinLD
Zoe is the only one who can beat the Tories in Guildford.
@GuildfordLibDem
Lucky today to dodge the rail strikes and get a trip to
@LibDems
HQ to work with other
@SELibDems
teams on our plans for the
#LocalElections
in May and the next
#GeneralElection
Plenty of ambition and energy from Sussex, Surrey and Kent, and of course from the
#MidSussex
Team
@hollowood_zoe
I like the reference to the working classes. There are too many issues that occupy the time and discussions of the chattering classes that are of little or no interest to the vast majority of people.
Forty years ago this week I was a 19 year old
@UKLabour
Agent for the Newbury District Council elections. Now I am an online campaigner for the
@LibDems
and
@allianceparty
. It has been quite a journey but I'm still on the side of the 'angels.'
We need a lot more
@LibDems
and
@TheGreenParty
MPs elected. To do achieve that we need some level of cooperation between the two parties. Who is with me?
@juliasuzanne76
I am guessing that all the platform speakers and a majority of those in attendance are well heeled enough to survive the financial impact of more years of Tory government. Most of us can't.
@NHSActivistRN
In 1988 I was a speaker at a public meeting organised in solidarity with striking health service workers. They have my full support in 2022!
I predict 100s of
@LibDems
gains in the local elections and plenty more in the General Election whenever it comes. The party is back as a significant third force in British politics!
Over 40 plus years active in politics I have changed my views on some things but overall I remain committed to a fairer society. A decent standard of living for everyone, a safe secure home and protection from state intrusion.
#Liberal
This Government doesn't understand that thousands of people with long-term health issues are desperate to get back to work, but Ministers' failure to tackle NHS waiting lists is stopping them.
They seem more interested in penalising people than helping them get back into work.
Great list of
@LibDems
candidates in West Berkshire for the May elections. In contrast Labour are very thin on the ground leaving wards in Newbury uncontested.
