Ten years ago, when I left teaching at Jesuit Tampa to do theology studies for ordination, one of my theatre kids said “if I get engaged after you get ordained, you’re doing the wedding,” and I agreed. Today, she called to say she got engaged AND Y’ALL, I AM IN THE BEST MOOD

False humility is false. Don’t have false humility. Be honest about the gifts God gives you, be grateful for His unearned gifts, and use the gifts you have been given—let your light shine before all

Wild hogs cause over $50 million in annual crop damage to Louisiana farms, including $18 million in damage to our soybean crops alone. If you want to eat vegetables, this is what needs to happen

It would seem that God stans evil… I answer that God does not stan evil, and this can be shown in three ways. The first, which slaps the hardest…

When Rickman says “By Grabthar’ s hammer…what a savings” at a store opening, the pain, despair, boredom, and sheer ANNOYANCE he puts into it (especially the pause) makes those 10 seconds some of the finest acting ever put on a screen

Galaxy Quest is massively under-watched, especially because Alan Rickman *perfectly* captures the vibe of an actor who did a sci-fi show for a paycheck and then realises they're going to spend the rest of their life at conventions being asked about what really happened in ep 42

Aquinas thinks there’s four species of pride 1) Thinking you’ve got a quality you haven’t 2) Thinking the quality you have is your own doing 3) Thinking the quality you have is a gift God gave you b/c you’re awesome 4) Thinking God’s unmerited gift is only for your benefit

Said Mass at my alma mater, and pulled out an alb that turns out belonged to a now-deceased Jesuit who taught here for decades. Strange to think how many times I went to his masses or went to him for confession while he was wearing this very alb, and now it’s my time to wear it

Fun fact: when Aquinas gets around to defining virtue, he doesn’t quote Aristotle. He quotes Augustine
