Sometimes you have to make important decisions based on incomplete data in which case you listen to experts in the field,use your experience ,set your moral compass make a decision and do the right thing
I’ve never read such nonsense as I have about
@CNOEngland
.Ruth has given her life to the service of others and provided top leadership to the profession in its hours of need ,from ppe to nurses we have lost ,Ruth is the CNO we all need now
#dontletetc
I’ll say it again ,the govt needs one spokesperson ,one cabinet minister managing across govt and one strategy not enhanced or floated via journalists .If we are not careful we will open a vacuum for alternative non evidence based options that will undermine confidence
It takes quite a lot to make my jaw drop but minister Simon Clarke saying he hadn’t talked to local government about using environmental health officers for contact tracing because it was DHSC responsibility was quite extraordinary
In the hospital just spare a thought for those overseas nurses living in digs in Worcester worrying about family back in india daily putting their lives on the line caring for our older people .They make me so proud and humble
@WorcsAcuteNHS
we truly are an international service
Does no one have any corporate memory anymore The target was set against commissioned activity not the total of nhs trust activity and 95% included minor injuries etc if it hadn’t the target would have been nearer 85% I know because I set it
As hard as it may appear it’s vital covid vaccines are delivered via primary care networks no one has a better record of delivery or who can reach those who really need it ie no central private sector led vanity projects
A Yorkshireman is born .Im told his first words will be “ow much” welcome to the world Alfie Nicholson ,auntie Rosa and uncle Ronnie send their love .Youcant imagine how valuable you are love grandad and Sj
@lnico1984
Just to be clear we don’t need fancy over engineered financial incentives to reopen the NHS just a robust infection control framework with the tools to make it happen ,a focus on system working and a realistic assessment of what is possible
I’m being interviewed on Monday for the substantive
@WorcsAcuteNHS
chair job .A job I understand that uniquely more people applied to be on the interview panel than applied for the job
It’s great that due to our scientists and regulators we are first to deploy the vaccine ,but it is not a “big nationalistic race “to get everyone vaccinated .The race is against COVID not Europe and the rest of the world .Global cooperation is needed to ensure the virus is beaten
I’ve spent my time in politics pursuing equality for people suffering mental ill health. As a Minister, I introduced the first waiting time standards in the NHS. On
#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
I restate my commitment to fight for equality. We’ve made progress, but have work to do.
After almost five years, our hospitals have been lifted out of special measures by
@NHSEngland
, after they recognised significant improvements in the safety & quality of patient care.
Full story 👇
Some days you realise why you do this .Spent time with a group of highly talented motivated women who have come halfway around the world to help us sustain our universal system hats off to our overseas nurses sorry it’s cold and the food is rubbish but thank you
@WorcsAcuteNHS
In the hospital ,crash course in oxygen flow vital if we are to surge much further, shout out for the engineers ,working with
@RWT_NHS

#runoutofmetaphors

This is so sad ,part of our family
@WorcsAcuteNHS
all our love to Vishs family his friends and his colleagues and a special mention to those who did everything humanly possible to save him RIP Vish X
It is with great sadness we share the news that we have lost a colleague and a friend. Dr Vishna Rasiah was a well-respected and much-loved Consultant Neonatologist at our Women’s Hospital.
#OTD
2002. Gordon Brown gives £40bn 'Kiss of Life' to the NHS to "make our NHS the best insurance policy in the world".
He used a 1p in the pound hike in National Insurance contributions to pay for the UK's biggest ever increase in health service funding.
Her in anticipation “do you still love me “ Him “I told you on the day we married (10 yrs ago ) I loved you and explained that if anything changed you would be the first to know “ Nothing has changed happy anniversary

Sometimes when you are leading a gigantic project that all the indicators are showing you it is undeliverable the courageous thing is not to steam on using all your ingenuity to attempt the impossible but to stop
#usegovtexperiemce
increasing waiting times for treatment poses a greater risk to the future of the NHS than all the stories about privatisation not only does it increase patients suffering but it increased demand for private health ins which undermines the basic NHS settlement with the population
I do not believe that any other of the Secretaries of State that I have worked for could have got more out of the treasury than
@Jeremy_Hunt
has congratulations longevity has its benefits
Two ladies came up to me and said “we recognise you” yes I said expecting to be complimented on my hilarious Twitter stream or my views on world events only to be asked if I had ever worked as a butcher in kidderminster !

Finished my first week at
@WorcsAcuteNHS
as chair wonderful staff met many committed leaders medical ,nurses and others a system that wants to help unrelenting regulators (that’s what they re there for )If we can harness all that energy for patients benefit it can be done
Words cannot describe the way I feel about this not only a great institution that makes a difference to patients all over Europe including the uk but a great honour to host it
Today, EMA staff lowered the 28 EU flags and symbolically said goodbye to their London offices. Guido Rasi expressed his thanks to the UK for its contribution to the work of the Agency and for having been a gracious host of EMA since 1995.
Irrespective of what he was charged with this is awful in all my contact with him he cared about patients he cared about staff and had a great sense of humour rip superman
My 7 year old , Ronnie has for some time since covering it at school thought he would like to be a Sikh ,after a school trip to the synagogue yesterday he has decided to embrace the Jewish religion .May he never lose his openness and wonder
In the hospital calm with sadness ,covid patients up sadly deaths up icu stable PPE inc gowns with abit of ingenuity fine no waiting list for staff testing turnaround 24 hrs thanks
@RWT_NHS
amazing what taking way arguments re funding does for discharges .staff brilliant as ever
In the hospital everyone working together for our patients . PPE seems to be settling down at the moment . Staff testing capacity switched on next week ,car parking raising the barriers ! Plans for icu expansion being executed Decision making minutes and hours not days and weeks
Mixed day on PA front my daughter resigned 3 times before 11am complaining of overwork announcing that I now had to be her PA tomorrow with as schedule including “scoring her outfits “she is 7 and uses the advice of a vlogger to control my life
In the hospital today .Highest number of COVID admissions in one day yesterday Keep following the rules .On vaccine 5 and a half thousand staff
@WorcsAcuteNHS
, 85%care home staff and residents and over 70%of over 80s vaccinated .hats off to primary and hospital staff in harmony
Sad decision to stand down as MP after 18 years. Honoured to represent people in N Norfolk. Today Mary and I set up a Mental Health Fund for Norfolk. Click here to contribute. Also exploring a potential national fund to fight for equality on these issues.
In the weird world we live in I’m waiting to join a zoom about Covid and EU Healthcare systems meanwhile in the next room I can hear
@BWCHBoss
responding to the booming voice of the PM on another zoom call
Just been faced with the question by
@BWCHBoss
what are you more excited about my CBE or forest
@NFFC
being promoted ?. My darling do you really need to ask❤️?
Happy birthday Chris Beasley former CNO NHS a brilliant warm and principled leader who like

Improving working lives,agenda for change,increasing staffing levels btw 2002/2006 making Wigan Wrightington and Leigh number one ,the horse in the hospital ,a person you could have disagreements with without rancour ,kind and honourable Andrew friend RIP
In the hospital whilst great things happen there is sadness and pain our staff meet in the garden to remember Vish one of our extended family ,young parents face their stillborn child bereavement staff want to put heir arms around them and hug them ..one day
Great to see our
@DudleyGroupNHS
chair
@DavidNichols0n
supporting our
@DGNHSCharity
with his own charity hoody! The charity is holding our own superhero fun run and family fun day 🦹 🦸♂️this Sunday at Himley Hall! Still time to register 👉
So I’ve been a little quiet as the last few weeks have been intense on all fronts, but things are looking up in the Nicholson household. Thank you
@DudleyGroupNHS
for the best Christmas present of all 💙
@HSJnews
Reminds me of the 2006 letter to the nhs saying don’t spend anymore money ,I can assure we are not lacking effort .Tells you more about the sender than the receiver
I am in absolute awe at the way in which primary care networks in Herefordshire and Worcestershire have responded to the vaccine challenge 100% sign up
In the hospital both icu surge areas opened in a planned way ,met a patient going for cancer surgery at local private hosp . Cno exploring how to transfer 20 staff to nhs nightingale ,major cake shortage in control centre (try fruit) .People so motivated
#tryingnottogetintheway
This is Keith, he's 101 years old.
He went home today after beating Coronavirus! 🙌🙏
Well done to everyone on Ward 12 at the Alexandra Hospital for looking after Keith so well for the past two weeks! 👏
Yesterday’s announcements were a disaster ,they may have been the right thing to do but being briefed half an hour before or seeing it on the news is not cross govt working .Get a grip
In the hospital covid patient activity stable ,no sense of a downturn .everyone itching to provide more comprehensive service ,kept up urgent cancer surgery ,33k outpatient telephone and video consultation Primary and community care doing an awesome job PPE ok
#loveyouall
The
@CareQualityComm
have published their report today following their latest inspection of our hospitals.
The report recognises the success of our staff in improving the quality and safety of care, with the CQC recommending it be considered that we exit special measures.
Four years ago today did healthchat
@RoyLilley
then finished spent last four years with family and working all over the world learned a lot ,got perspective ,we have a wonderful healthcare system in this country not perfect and we can learn from others
#stillavailableforblame
This is only one of the significant changes .looking back we will see this year as year zero for a new better funded reinvented NHS and social care no more public bad private good no more living on the edge. This is the survivors responsibility
Sounds like DHSC will confirm NHS trusts' debts, worth about £10bn, being written off --- this has been on the cards for last few months --- but may now be a more 'generous' settlement in light of
#covid19
In the wonderful world of the way the financial position of the nhs is portrayed I can confirm that it is both old and new money operating together in a vacuum created by the dept health and social meanwhile on planet Earth it’s great that Hereford can replace hutted wards
Bought it 50 years ago today with Xmas record tokens thank you aunties May,Ivy,Rose,Carol,Margaret ,Doris,Barbara .Uncles Bob ,Bill,Eric,Donald,Roland,Pete you started a lifetimes enjoyment
Inspired by a YouTube vlogger my 7 year old daughter has decided to be my personal assistant for the day am dreaming up things for her to do ,she has just started tidying up “yesterday’s mess” bliss
The other simple point I would make is the iron law of waiting lists Lettting waiting times increase will save you 3/5s of bugger all but it will cost you 3/5 of the GDP of the country to get them back
Irrespective of the morality of discouraging the neediest patients from getting care this a zombie policy even the world bank thinks it does not deliver either more resources or better utilisation
A time for reflection could we all do more ,population (stay at home ,)leaders protect and support our staff better .If I could hug every single one of our staff at
@WorcsAcuteNHS
I would RIP Julie
#oneofourown
Welcome Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
@WesStreeting
.
We look forward to helping you deliver the government’s mission to build an NHS fit for the future.
We say goodbye to Carlos who died saving others ,our Philippino colleagues have payed a high price .we should not rest until the underlying causes of his exposure and risk are eradicated Carlos RIP
Today we mourned the loss of one of our own 😢💔
Carlos Sia, a Healthcare Assistant at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, sadly passed away in May with COVID-19
His family arranged for his funeral procession to pass by so staff could pay respect to a much-loved colleague and friend
In the hospital (Alex)calm and dedicated bereavement team ,brilliant teamwork covid ward cons physician leading T+o ,breast surgeons and rheumatologist .Heroes in procurement getting the FFP out . icu surge ready to go just seeing exhausts me never mind doing it ❤️
@WorcsAcuteNHS
I cannot think of a better choice to lead the response to the serious workforce challenge than
@julianhartley1
This effort will be the difference between success and failure for the NHS Few healthcare systems in the world know what to do the NHS has an important leadership role
