Adult critical care beds in London. 100% occupancy is not reached because that would be dangerous (and operationally foolish). Instead, when they see occupancy rising and rising, hospitals have to open more critical care beds (aka 'surge'), to try to keep some margin.

Samantha Jones, is Johnson’s “expert adviser for NHS transformation and social care". She was the CEO for Centene in the UK. Centene is a US corporate giant that profits from denying care. It is now the largest GP provider in the UK. These people look at the NHS & see profit.

It sounds like this is causing major problems in Cornwall Incredibly, all IT's down across all NHS providers including GP practices, and even as far as canteen tills... what has to break in order for that to happen?

IT outage in Cornwall is causing big problems. Appts and operations cancelled, and thought to be leading to ambulance handover delays. Not being treated as a cyber attack, though

Credit where it's due... Yesterday NHS England's top team got lots of local NHS CEOs together face to face for the first time since before covid Despite the grim time the nhs is having, the feedback I've heard has been near universal praise for the approach. Very unusual.

This feels like an important moment. This surgery has decided that significantly cutting GP provision is necessary to stay financially viable (many others have achieved the same thru natural attrition). They’re probably right.
