It would certainly be ironic if Edward Snowden ultimately ends up getting greased by a HIMARS after being conscripted into the Russian infantry as an able-bodied military-aged male.
I gotta be honest with you, I borderline respect an E-2 who f***s up so bad the Secretary of Defense is being briefed on it and having to answer questions about it.
Moderna says it can turn around a new vaccine available for omicron by early next year. Pfizer says 100 days.
It may not even be necessary but that's unbelievable. We are living in an age of biotech wonders and we shouldn't take it for granted.
I was holding my two year old daughter on a walk moments ago and for the first time out of nowhere she said,
"what we do in life, echoes in eternity.”
I started to quietly tear up. She couldn’t see my face and I didn’t make a sound, but she said,
"At my signal, unleash hell."
I was holding my two year old daughter on a walk moments ago and for the first time out of nowhere she said,
“God is good. God is real.”
I started to quietly tear up. She couldn’t see my face and I didn’t make a sound, but she said,
“Don’t cry. It’s okay.”
Ancient History Hot Take: The aftermath of Alexander the Great's death is potentially the most bonkers tale in all of world history and it should be an HBO series.
There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL
Since she has brought a smile to some of your faces from time to time, I feel it's right to let you know we lost Layla last night. She got very sick, very quickly but she's at peace now. She was a great friend and we'll miss her terribly.
I think its utterly fascinating how thoroughly Russia has screwed itself. Everyone feared its vaunted information warfare operation only to see it get thoroughly trounced first by US intelligence then by a torrent of Shiba Inu memes.
If I had invested a nickel in Apple for every dictator's goose-stepping, fancy-dress military that got its ass kicked by the United States these last hundred years or so I'd be a rich man.
Can we talk about how the Carney has been off fighting in an actual f***ing war for the last seven months and looks miles better than some of the ships I've seen?
A scene that hit me different as a 40 year old man over seeing it as a teenager or early 20s is this one, before the attack on battery Wagner where he's alone on the beach:
Think I thought he was overcome with emotion and pride but now see he was f***ing terrified.
@ichbinilya
@BillEvanina
It's a fair question. Perhaps he was prepared for it. But we've certainly never displayed this kind of agility in countering his information warfare before. It's worth applauding in my book. Just took the better part of a decade to figure it out.
Thought it was a good time to resurface the barely contained Putin-crush harbored by some on the right. Putin, it turns out, should have been more concerned.
Folks should clarify that Russia has already invaded and is occupying Ukraine. Russia is not invading Ukraine, it is threatening to launch a renewed offensive to expand it's occupation.
Remember when the NRA took a really weird turn toward being pro-Russia and everyone was like "wha?" and it turned out they were penetrated by Russian spies?
PLA all terrain vehicle.
Our logistics is ready for the liberation of Alaska.
Using Alaska as a bridgehead, the China-Russia alliance will liberate all of Anglophone North America.

Yeah they've voted to stay with the Us and even become a state. Y'all should let Taiwans vote on reunification, how you think it would turn out?
Honestly this balloon is living a dream. Grew up in China, took a really risky trip across the Pacific, shows up in the United States and boom: overnight celebrity. It's experiencing its own American dream and I say it's wonderful. We should get him/her a few brand partnerships.
I've wondered why there were no former submariners involved. He specifically excluded them because they weren't "inspirational."
Yes they do tend to be sticklers about "safety" and "procedural compliance" over, you know, the things that are REALLY important like marketing.
The CEO of OceanGate, which is operating the missing Titanic tourist submarine, explains that the company didn’t want to hire any experienced “50 year old white guys” because they weren’t “inspirational.”
Psst...
I have a secret.
The woke military controversy is a made-up twitter debate that resurfaces every time a Democrat is in the white house and can safely be ignored.
JUST IN: If Russia Invades Finland during the interim period between a NATO application and membership, UK Joint Expeditionary special forces would help Finland - Security sources tell iltalehti
Poetry reading nights, movie nights, yoga sessions, talent shows, steel Beach barbecues, board game nights: Believe it or not, service members are human beings and need outlets to have fun and express themselves. And often those experiences are what you remember.
I mean that takes some doing. I bet even the President of the United States has this particular kid's name in a binder on his desk right now. That's above and beyond the call of duty.
The US Coast Guard is the lead agency in the Titan SAR effort. And implying that they would disregard the plight of the poor over the plight of the wealthy is a million miles removed from my experience of that organization.
Awwww unrequited love. France is all "UK" and England is all "The other side of the f***ing planet.
Also: I see you, Ireland. Come on over, the water is fine
@freedomrideblog
Much of this stuff was given to Russia and China. Defeating Fascism was a team effort but good old Capitalism more than carried its weight.
Putin won't touch Finland or Sweden if they are in NATO. He's busy beclowning himself in Ukraine and they are not a match for NATO. Nobody wants WWIII but everyone is woke now. An attack on Sweden or Finland would mean WWIII anyway, NATO or no NATO.
The causes of the American Revolution are so complex/dense that you really should just accept the "They didn't want to pay taxes to the crown without representation" answer they give you in lower school and move on.
"Oh, you really want to know? Ok this will take 1,000 pages"
All other issues aside, every fiber of my military trained-being tells me that there is an unbelievable shortfall in training in America's police forces. Things such as a use-of-force continuum, basic confidence in you ability to control a situation at the lowest level: Absent
Funny/wonderful thing about a free society: You can't hide US combat casualties. They have spouses, parents, friends, etc. And you have a free press and freedom of speech.
So, imma go out on a limb and say this is just Twitter Musk.0 platforming lies and propaganda
Daring?
I think most would agree: ill-considered is a better description.
A frontal assault over a mile of ground against fortified, dug-in infantry with artillery support and plenty of reserves had long been considered a bad idea.
Today marks the 161st anniversary of one of the most daring infantry assaults ever attempted: Pickett’s Charge.
Pickett's men were almost exclusively from Virginia, with additional divisions from Florida, North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
The assault lasted
Driving a stock 2022 Toyota 4Runner for a week: A Review
1) This car hasn't been redesigned in 30 years and doesn't want to be. Still wears flannel and corduroy. Believes OK Computer was the last great album ever made and doesn't want to hear any different.
Gen. Eric Smith, the Marine commandant, yesterday warned "those that are in the area" against targeting the Marine expeditionary unit deployed to the Middle East: "If you target them, someone else will raise your children."
I am kind of tired of articles that read "China is enraged" when it should read "China is performing anger but is actually angling for something that we may not fully understand yet."
WASPs with hammer and sickle emojis next to their name who clearly have never lived under the boot of Soviet rule -- or known anyone who has -- are some of the most ludicrous creatures on earth.
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun pushing his way past all the other good guys with guns who decided it wasn't their job.
40 minutes. The authorities left the shooter inside for FORTY MINUTES w/o doing anything. They just stood outside. It’s gonna be pandemonium when these civil suits start flying.
Easy there, Comrade Stalin. Not sure you want to purge the military right now.

I like the idea of marking the death of slavery in the United States. If it's a matter of too many Federal Holidays, I'd be willing to trade Columbus Day, given that he never stepped foot in the now Continental United States
When the rifle was introduced on the battlefield, one of the ideas was that a highly accurate weapon could be used to target officers and sergeants, which would disorganize advancing troops. It's still a hella valid battlefield objective.

I'm dead serious when I say this: Operate less. Paint more.
We are not at war. When we show up in a place, we should look good. If we don't, we are defeating the purpose of presence.
I am a patriot. I've got receipts. Served the military my entire adult life: as a sailor, as a journalist covering our service members, now in industry providing critical capabilities. You won't out-🇺🇸 me.
With that said, I'd like to retire God Bless America in the 7th inning.
We'll all be a lot better off when we say to ourselves "I will not take seriously the opinions of someone who is paid to express outrageous opinions to drive ratings and sell ads for FlexSeal."
We all have a type, right? And I know some people like the F-35, some people like the Super Hornet. And some people (who doubtless sport acid wash jeans and who have really strong opinions about New Order) can't let go of the F-14.
But not me. My heart belongs to another.
Imagine the paroxysmal onset of self-doubt that must have struck Tucker Carlson when he realized that Victor Orban is condemning Russias invasion of Ukraine and standing with NATO.
Thing is, y'all, no matter what you think of the administration, military or government, they would not be able to hide an aircraft carrier being sunk or even being seriously damaged.
Lemme tell ya, as one who covered the military for a decade, it would leak within hours.
We searched for 12 hours for the 40+ missing persons and we kept the bodies of the dead on ice in the starboard break for a full 24 hrs before we made the decision to prioritize getting the people to shore to bury their dead within the timeframe prescribed in the Koran, IIRC
My Future: A Thread.
I've accepted a position as Editorial Lead at Northrop Grumman's Space Park office in Redondo Beach, California. I'll be working on various writing and communications functions as part of Space Systems.
I think that's what they wanted. We did everything we possibly could, and a number of my shipmates remain haunted by that experience. It was certainly formative for a 21-year-old me, and makes me a bit touchy, as this thread might demonstrate.
If you are an EV designer, you should wake up in the morning every day, look in the mirror, and say:
"The car i design today doesn't need to look stupid."
Putin keeps trying to limit himself to "the situation in Donbass" but then he talks about the full demilitarization of Ukraine and the nefarious plans of NATO.
This guy is off his rocker.
Maybe if we spent less time pumping our culture full of stories of battlefield glory during the Civil War and more stories of starving citizens of besieged cities eating rats we wouldn't be glib about forwarding it as a possibility.
When I was a kid I used to think that White House Correspondent was the pinnacle of journalism. As a journalist I realized it's ... not.
These briefings are mindless.
