1/X THREAD ON OPIUM TEA A mild opium tea called "doda" was widely sold in Canada until 2009. Doda is made by grinding dried poppy heads & stalks into a powder, then adding hot water. I can't find any first-hand media reports of social problems or crime arising from doda use.

2. Sounds like the weed they smoked back in the 1990s must have been pretty weak. Let's see what they were saying about marijuana potency at the time. In 1995, US "Drug Czar" Lee Brown told media that "Marijuana is 40 times more potent today than 10, 15, 20 years ago."

If coca leaf & cocaine were as legal as coffee beans & caffeine, then snorting cocaine would be about as popular as snorting caffeine is now. People would mainly take their cocaine in safe coca-based beverages, just like we now take caffeine in safe coffee-based beverages.

We just won in court against charges of operating without a business license at our E Hastings Mushroom Dispensary. Vancouver City lost bad. We've been exonerated! Also last week the province said they're dropping all fines related to Oct 2019 raid on our cannabis dispensary!

When alcohol was banned, people drinking in public soared, as did alcohol poisoning deaths. When alcohol prohibition ended, people could drink alcohol indoors in legal, supervised locations, and alcohol poisoning deaths ended. Why are we refusing to learn from the past?

During alcohol prohibition, mass deaths occurred due to a poisoned liquor supply. As soon as prohibition ended, these deaths stopped. During the modern opioid prohibition, mass deaths are occurring due to a poisoned opioid supply. When prohibition ends, these deaths will stop.

@DrMerrileeBrown You say the piece of bar had 20 grams of THC? How is that possible? It's not. Also, "they can be fatal in kids" is untrue. Eating too potent edibles can produce uncomfortable feelings, but it's never fatal. You need to learn more about cannabis if you're advising patients.

In 1985 Brian Mulroney passed a harsh law criminalizing bongs, pipes, grow books & High Times magazine etc. There were many police raids - hundreds of shops were shut down across Canada. After Trudeau legalized, Mulroney immediately cashed in on the board of a cannabis corp.

During liquor prohibition, 90% of the bootleg liquor sold in the USA was poisonous. Tens of thousands of people were killed. Even more were blinded or injured. This problem wasn't solved with mandatory treatment for alcoholics. It was solved by ending liquor prohibition.

Best way to get rid of excessive cannabis packaging is to remove requirement for childproofing. We don't sell tobacco in childproof packages! There's no harm to a child from touching a cannabis bud or preroll. Only edibles need to be childproofed. Buds and joints do not!

Under a sane drug policy, it would be easier for the average person to access opium tea than it is to get fentanyl. Our current insane prohibition laws make it very easy for the average person to buy fentanyl, and almost impossible to find opium tea. This is clearly bad policy!
