Early morning frost here in Yorkshire with a cold breeze from the north. Moon nearly ready to go to bed 💤 as this ewe uses her body to shield her lambs from the wind. 🌬❄️
After all today's rain we found a heifer stuck in a storm drain near the river Aire. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue did a fantastic job to bring her out alive...
Busy night tonight with the amazing
@NorthYorksFire

Another frosty start here in Yorkshire. This ewe with enough milk for two stole a small twin off a one titted ewe (not enough milk for two) before giving birth to her own big single. Shepherd's know this has a one in Trillion chance of happening!!..🍀

Damp misty morning here in Yorkshire as Bob comes with me to persuade a ewe to let her own twin lamb suckle. The ewe for some reason doesn't like her smaller lamb, but will let the lamb suckle when Bob's in her face...

In the 1950's my great uncle Sam was droving sheep on a country lane when a car ran into them. Luckily only one was laying dead in the road. He charged the man ten bob (50p now) to pay for it. Sam said as the car drove off the ewe woke up & ran after her mates

Max found a Swaledale ewe stuck on her back in the rushes. Just needed rolling onto her feet and off she ran with Max in hot pursuit. Sheep only die once, but can have several good attempts before they do...🐑🐕
At the back of our old farmhouse is a stone passage leading to old stone milking shippons. This old Swaledale escaped after shearing today and I found her up my back passage!!..

This Swaledale ewe gave birth to stillborn twins and plenty of milk to suckle a lamb. The Mule lamb is from a triplet and her mother had only enough milk for two. I will post a photo here when the adoption is successful. We just hold the ewe to let the lamb suckle for now... 🐑🐑
Morning all, wet and warm start here in Yorkshire as these Texel quadruplets born last night off a Dales Mule are all up and running...

With all the talk of kids being cold this winter!!..
My sister and brother at the back and me in short pants, helping dig through snow drifts to get to the sheep. When men were men. Photo would be taken in the freezing cold 1963 winter... ❄️
Wild cold wet day here in Yorkshire as dairy cows stay indoors on winter ration. Plenty of grass to turn them out, but the land is far too wet. Next week looking more promising for dry and sunshine 🌞
