The separator between elite and good players is conditioning per HOF Coach, Bob Huggins: Elite players go as hard as they can for five minutes and take one minute to recover. Good players go as hard as they can for three minutes and take three minutes to recover.

1 thing I’ve come to understand (after losing my college HC unexpectedly): The beauty of the assistant coach experience is “getting your flowers” from players in real time. Head coaches get their flowers years after a player graduates and understands why you loved her/him tough.

Met two strangers tonight at dinner. One was a 30-year thyroid cancer survivor. The other is battling stage 4 breast cancer with all her might. Neither “looked sick”. Let’s continue to extend grace to each other. You never know what a person is managing.
