it needs to be understood that the 'back to normal' narrative & winding back of basic precautions means that the elderly, disabled, immunocompromised & vulnerable are being abandoned. 'Back to normal' for the 'healthy' part of the population is not a safe place for those at risk

Given the number of people saying they know of cases within their orbit or, as one reporter just tweeted, seeing lots of people on their timeline saying they have C19, we think it is a fair assumption that there is a lot more infections in the community than the daily cases show

From 9 August labs will test all samples from state-run PCR clinics for COVID-19, Influ A, Influ B and RSV. This means that if you are tested on 8 August, your sample may be tested for all four viruses. From 9 August onwards, everyone will be tested for all four viruses.

How many symptomatic haven't been able to get a PCR or RAT? How many have decided to stay home & ride it out? Numbers don't matter, hosp does! Well no, numbers inform & allow forecasts for hospitalisations. Without accurate numbers it is like flying blind & best guessing.

How is covid tracking. No weekly stats so we don't know BUT ... Bendigo Bank had a sign up about staff shortages due to 'illness'. A number of shops around Launnie with signs up saying closed due to covid. Rumoured big outbreak in NW Hospital. RHH reinstating masks. ๐Ÿค”

we'd like to come back to this. there is not a PH prof anywhere who would say being with a mate who is +ve in a pub for half hour is not a close contact. In our view, this example used by the Premier highlights the mockery of the definition being used
