The LPC has noted with concern that some law firms have continued to make a driver’s license & or ownership of a vehicle as one of the key requirements for graduates to be considered for PVT contracts, despite the publication of the amendment to the Rules
The LPC is calling people who were clients and got defrauded by the Eastern Cape attorney, Mr. Zuko Nonxuba, to come forward as the organization wants to disseminate the funds recovered from his trust account to the victims.

LPC confirms arson incident at Gauteng Provincial office. Police arrest 2 people on suspicion of arson and assault. Fire only affected one office in which LPC consults with the public. No serious injuries, 2 staff members under observation.
GP office closed until further notice.

Ms. Khomotso Matsaung is currently the Director of Limpopo Provincial Office of the Legal Practice Council. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court, who holds and LLB Degree from the University of Limpopo and a Masters in Mercantile Law from the University of Pretoria.

invites more pupils to apply to receive a stipend through the 2021 pupillage project administered by the Council with funding from the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA).
3/4 Members of the public are warned of such practices, particularly on social media & must report any suspected cases of people holding themselves out to be legal practitioners to the SAPS, after confirming with the LPC if the persons in question are not registered practitioners
2/4 No person other than a legal practitioner may hold himself or herself out as a legal practitioner or make any representation or use any type or description indicating or implying that he or she is a legal practitioner, and specifically a practising legal practitioner.

condemns in the strongest terms the recent behaviour of two legal practitioners in court proceedings that took place in Gauteng and Limpopo.
The Council urges members of the profession to assist by adhering to the Rules of the Council. The requirement of a drivers’ license or a vehicle for the purposes of PVT is unfair and discriminatory as it affects many graduates who are from poor backgrounds.
