We’ve caught patients being coerced into sex post delivery IN the hospital. I say coerced because there’s no way you just delivered vaginally or via c/s and want to do ANY strenuous activity like that. Peeing hurts. Standing hurts.

Last night a doctor would not order Lomotil after giving a patient hemabate. For my bbs who don’t know, hemabate is used to help stop/prevent further postpartum hemorrhage. It also gives explosive intense diarrhea. Lomotil helps. There was no contraindication. It’s giving cruelty

On day one of my job, I helped make sure mom had what I would say a safe and informed birth. When baby needed deep suctioning I kept mom updated. I had dad take pictures so I could bring the phone to mom. In school I saw so much obstetric trauma. I won’t contribute to that!

I forgot to mention constant nausea, possible vomiting, migraines, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder(PMDD) which isn’t just something that happens before your period. It can occur during as well. It’s hell. I was diagnosed after educating myself on it, going to the doc(cont.)

I told the resident if we ruptured the patient the attending wouldn’t make it to the delivery. Attending told them to rupture anyway. Guess who didn’t make it to the delivery. Doctor said “you’re not gonna let me live this one down huh?”
