A reminder that Amsterdam wasn’t Amsterdam until it was Amsterdam. The famed “bike capital” of the world was once as car-choked as the worst Western cities. It wasn’t until the 1980s that planners and politicians advanced an agile, car-reduction policy.

Just back from community forum in Ballincollig about BusConnects. I want my daughter to have a future on Earth. I am unambiguously in favour of the change that needs to happen. Climate change is here & ignoring it is not an option #TheTimeIsNow

Councillors Oliver Moran and Kieran McCarthy raised the issue of cycling at last night's council meeting. We need to show people that cycling is a beautiful way to move around Cork city. City council needs to lead the way on that.

I'll have to give up the cycle to work. It's too hilly and the weather like! 🙄

Thanks to @echolivecork for doing this piece on dereliction in Cork City. It is unacceptable that properties are allowed to become derelict. My ambition is to see an end to dereliction in Cork. #DerelictIreland

I wish I could say the same about Cork! Unfortunately we seem destined to take as long. When the city manager and all the Councillors have free parking at city hall it doesn’t bode well........

Great conversation about how we promote cycling in our city this morning. We've being saying for 30 years that Dublin could become a great cycling city. In the next ten years I think we could finally make it happen. #ibikeivote #wantgreenvotegreen #Dublin

Great to be out with @CorkCyclingCrew this morning. No such thing as bad weather only bad clothing. Managed to clear the cycle lanes of leaves #BikeWeek2021

Busy Sunday today. Painting @GraceOSllvn new office in Cork in the morning. Out with iBOP cyclebus @rep_of_bike @CorkCyclingCrew in the afternoon. Weather was perfect for both & a cuppa in Soma afterwards. Thanks @Tommyhen78 et al for organising.

A much better idea than Black Friday for sure. Support local producers this Christmas if possible.

They spent €19m on cycling in 2015 so it’s backwards we are going in relation to active transport.
