Head Football Coach at THE James Madison HS | Regional Director - Hispanic Texas High School Football Coaches Association | Proud HISD Product
#RideTheWave
People LOVE knocking our district, constantly using us as an example for what’s bad in education. But here’s the thing, I’ve been in a suburban district before. Coming back into HISD was coming home. I KNOW I can do your job in the suburbs… BUT CAN YOU DO MINE in the inner city?
I’m blessed and extremely grateful for this opportunity. Thank you to Coach Dixon, the Heights HS administration, and the Heights community for the past five years! Let’s work!!!

I am very honored and blessed to accept the position of Regional Director for the Houston North Chapter of the Hispanic Texas High School Football Coaches Association. I look forward to what the future holds for our organization.
This summer needs to go ahead and come to an end... I'm sick and tired of getting calls and texts about former students/athletes passing away... Rest In Peace Kyron... one of the best and brightest I've had the pleasure of coaching...
I’m dead serious... I had a young out-of-state coach hit me up about helping him get a job in Texas ... one of the first things he said was “I’m unstoppable in Madden. I have a hell of a playbook.” I never responded... because I truly did not know what to say...
🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Texas City was great to me. I'll be forever grateful to Coach Surovik for the opportunity he gave me. I will be moving on to Heights HS. Coach Dixon presented an incredible opportunity that I could not pass. I'm extremely excited and look forward to getting started.

Deeply saddened by the loss of my longtime friend and mentor Coach Robin Kirk. He took a shot on a young guy and molded me into the coach I am today. I will forever be indebted to him for everything he has done for me. Rest in Peace, Coach Kirk. You will truly be missed.
Sitting in my recliner watching MNF but listening to my son in his room smack talking some jabroni while playing Madden is much more entertaining...
Best line so far: “You really thought you were gonna win?! My dad’s a football coach, bruh!!!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Today is definitely bittersweet. I have accepted a position at Texas City HS as an Assistant Football Coach. A huge THANK YOU to
@AustinMustangs
and
@NavarroMS_HISD
. I'm excited about this opportunity and ready to get to work with
@Tchsfootball18
. Go Stings!
It’s definitely a good day when coaches from big time college programs come through to recruit our young men at Heights HS. The day
@VanBMalone3rd
pulls up is the day I look forward to the most. It’s always great catching up with my former high school coach.

First year as a coach:
OC: OK, what do we like here?
*WR Coach motions for my headset. Coach offers up a crazy call & says "It's there. Run it.", then gives it back.
OC: Soria... if you give up that headset again, you're fired."
Me: 🤤🤤🤤 Yes, sir.
😂

Urgent care with my oldest son this morning... probably an ear infection... but what has me amazed is that he measured in at 6ft tall and 240lbs... HE'S ONLY ELEVEN YEARS OLD! 👀👀👀
One of our Houston North Region Directors:
James Soria (
@CoachSoria
)
Co-OC/OL coach at Heights High School
Active member in the organization and a well known name in the Upper Houston Coaching Community. Soria will be a HFC very soon!

Saying you’re just gonna log off from social media until all of this settles down only enables these problems to continue. It is our job to listen and act... not turn a blind eye or deafen our ears. If this is you, then you are part of a serious problem.

Every year, the night before the first game of the season my man Eric would call me and say “Dadgummit, Soria... what them boys gonna do tomorrow night? Y’all gonna win this thing or what?” 🤣🤣🤣
I miss my bro... may he continue to Rest In Peace.

Just talked to a head coach in Dallas ISD "We are so excited to get started, a lot of people have no idea what its like coaching in the inner city and the challenges our kids face every day, to get to work with them means the world to us"

First year as OC:
HC: *Points at WR* What's HE doing at WR?!
Me: He's fine, coach. Gonna hit him with a slant.
HC: *Rips headset off and gives a death stare.* WHAT?!
*WR takes slant 55 yds for TD.*
Me: *Fist pump... looks at HC*
HC: Good call, Soria.

A lot of early mornings, late nights, and long weekends I spent with these guys as assistant coaches at Austin HS… now we’re blessed to lead our own football programs… 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Pretty cool moment today… My oldest son Aaron suited up for his first 8th grade game of the season for the same middle school I played for, while the game was also officiated by his very first football coach. Proud dad!! Let’s goooo!!! 🏈🏈🏈
I’m truly honored to be selected this week by our phenomenal organization. It’s a blessing working with an amazing group of students, teachers, coaches and parents within the Heights HS and HISD community. Thank you!! 🙏🏽

My seniors. Some of the best kids I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach. They came to the Heights the same year that I joined the staff. I’m very blessed to be with them for their four-year high school playing career. We’re not done, though. Next week… STATE PLAYOFFS! 🏈🐾🏈🐾
