So….been a rough week for the Robertson clan. I’ve been diagnosed with Colon Cancer. We believe it is localized in my colon and are hopeful we get to avoid chemotherapy. I have surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. The prognosis is positive as are we. #getacolonoscopy

So we got a new set of scans done today and they all came back CLEAN. No cancer! We are so blessed. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. Now we get to March forward for three months with no doctors appointments!!! (I mean checkups don’t count)

Completed Round 4 of chemo this week. We are 1/3 of the way through, and we had another set of chest scans come back clean. Fam is headed for Port A for one final summer hurrah before the real fun begins. We are gonna defeat a whole bunch of different stuff this fall in C-Stat!

Round 12 (The Final Round) has begun. The last bag of of Oxalaplatin. I’m gonna feel awful for the next few days. I’ll lose feeling in my legs, won’t be able to tolerate cold, and my feet will swell and hurt, but it’s almost over. One more 5-FU infusion next week and I’m done.💪

Big day today. We have our first colonoscopy since having the initial one that discovered the cancer almost a year ago. I can tell you honestly that I’m terrified, but at the same time I’m confident today is going to be a reason to celebrate. We can do hard things.

Got the all clear by my surgeon this week, and I’m allowed to go back to work! Finally got my chemo consult scheduled in C-Stat next week after way more trouble than I would’ve imagined. I’m man enough to tell you I’m scared for this next part, but momma didn’t raise no punk.

Best week so far. Wound Vac is gone, this time permanently, the dog and I are getting plenty of walks in, we all went to watch Walker’s last game, and even went out to dinner for the first time in 5 weeks. Spring Ball is in the air and I’m missing out. That’s motivational.

Had our 1st follow-up yesterday. Official diagnosis was Stage 3B N0 Colon Cancer. Pathology showed margins were clean. Tumor was large w moderately differentiated cells that metastasized into 13/30 lymph nodes. Giving 1 month to heal before starting chemo. Bummed about that.

Results are in. Completed round 6 of Chemo. My CT scans are clean. My CEA (cancer marker in my blood) is low. Bloodwork was good. Gotta put my nose down for 3 months and hopefully by then I’ve completed Chemo, Consol has qualified for the playoffs, and we move into our new home.

Completed round 5 of 12. I did the “art therapy” today after declining the volunteer gal’s offer the first 4 times. I utilized the “dark outline then lightly shade” approach that most of the girls at Thomas Haley Elementary in Irving used. Mrs. Brown would be so proud of me.

Another tough week. Tuesday Night we were back at the ER and were admitted w a nasty abdominal infection. DRs re-opened an incision and got the infection controlled, and after another 6 days in the hospital are hopefully going home Mon w a “wound vac” for the next 1-2 months.

Almost all the way back. Lost 18/28 lbs I gained during Chemo in the last 3 months. Resting HR back below 80 for the first time since April 23’. VO2 threshold back almost to 180HR. The scars will remain but the pain will fade away.
