In a time where so many coaches are self serving their own ego, think they are above the players, this is what a coach should be.
U are only called coach bc of your players. They matter most. U are a small part of THEIR story. Everyone can learn from Matt
This is why itโs ridiculous when fans make death threats & say crazy stuff to ATHs. Ertz had 2 non-displaced fractures/kidney injury/blood in urine & played. McCown is 40, 17 seasons, finally got to play in his 1st playoff game. It means everything to them
Route running with your eyes & headโฆ we see so much footwork nonsense nowadays, players arenโt learning how to be artists and sell & deceive their routes with their eyes/head. Diggs is one of the best. Creating space with ๐/head.
Devonta Smith needs to just say, no.. Iโm not running a 40, not wasting my time preparing for pointless combine drills...do my medical, turn my tape on, and watch how I move. Watch my skill bc it is all the eval you need
Now that the season is here, a bunch of players are going to be shocked when those Twitter/IG drills donโt translate to the field. A lot will learn you donโt play drillsโฆ. Perfect ex in this vid.. itโs all fun & games, until itโs not fun & games anymore
This is a message for coachesโฆ how many coaches legit try to take the joy out of the game. In HS, College and Pro. How many strip each players personality away from them and make the game as if itโs a battlefield w/soldiers. End of the day, you play the game bc u enjoy it..
WOW: Tom Brady says he has ONE REGRET PLAYING FOOTBALL, HE TOOK IT TO SERIOUSLY
โI see Patrick out there at QB, running around, laughing, having fun, I'm like, 'I used to be like that! What the hell happened to me? I just got too seriousโ

Thing isโฆthis is not football..this is a bunch of grow men who shouldnโt be around the game, who are living their failed dreams through kids. Way too many of them masquerading as coaches in youth football. These guys๐คก, cannot teach the game so they do this kind of stuff w/kids
No ridiculous arm swing..DB wouldโve never known when he was going to decel/slam on brakes. Everything looked like a deep route until it suddenly wasnโt. U donโt put the blinker on & let the DB know a transition/decel is coming. Route running is deception
What if I said, deceleration, stride changes, and deception was more important than straight line speed๐ง๐ค
You want to get open and separateโฆ Learn to run routes. That means being able to decel, change stride, and deceive
Few ever train hips prepping for transfer into skill on-field. Pro DB/NCAA RB w/ a few hip exercises
1-Kettlebell Drives+dorsiflexion
2-Kettlebell open/close
3-Kneeling open/close
4-Straight leg Hydrant
5-FRC style Hovers
6-FRC style inward/outward circles
7-Kneeling ext-rotation
In what other area of life is this okay? Why does coaching football make this accepted? In a sport that coaches preach for players to keep emotions in tact, & then too many act like this. What if a player did this?
Just treat ppl with respect, kindness & how u want to be treated
@Bradooooooooooo
Man itโs all fun & games until you are explaining to the nurse in the emergency room what you were doing, and what caused you to now sit there waiting for a doctor
At some point, ppl will realize Rivals and a vast vast vast amount of recruiting โmediaโ are grown men who simply want to make a $ off high school football players, and want to be buddies with D1 level kids. Nothing more. Itโs ๐คก stuff daily
#KeepYourKidsAwayFromGrownMenGroupies
@CoachKnerem
I respectfully ask
1. If u have been in contact w/this young lady for a yr, that means u like her. State tourney passions running high, did u speak w/her after & hear her thoughts? Ask her to add context? Context is very important
2. Is talking about a kid on Twitter any better?
Deion was so skilled itโs crazy. When ppl just talk about his speed theyโre doing him an injustice bc he was highly skilled. Many DBโs just arm-bar/hand fight w/o purpose. Deion changed WRs space, he forced WRs to change their stride by interrupting their arms..subtle & skilled
Some of these coaches would be shocked stepping into an NFL locker room & seeing most proโs walk around in slippers/slides/crocks when they arenโt in sport activity. Same for college athletes.. telling HS football players they canโt wear this to school. Sheesh๐คฆโโ๏ธ. Time to reassess
Crocs and slides are not allowed in my program. The first time it will cost you 50 pushups next Iโm taking them until your parentโs come get them!
PROTECT THE HILL ๐ฑ๐บ
Adults like this shouldnโt be around kids.
They do this bc they are not knowledgeable to actually teach/help kids learn the game/have fun.
They are living their failed ATH dreams through kids. Itโs Halloween for them, they dress up as a coach for their ego
Someone hitting you in the head w/ a stability ball, while holding weight, isnโt exactly what God intended it to be used for.. just bc u can often means u never should.. things have reached a ๐ชlevel now in football/sport training/prep..man itโs gotta stop
Beautiful thing when guys use๐. Real in-game skill. Rep w/o rep within each step. Marco Wilson lets his๐lead every step in his crossover run. Heโs not just letting momentum take him back back back, he lets each step be itโs own step controlled by๐where he can break on any step
@ChattinKeith
The Coach conducting the interview should tell the coach interviewing right away at the beginning what the $ for the position is. This attitude that asking about $ is wrong is foolish. Bc I promise u the guy sitting behind the desk conducting the interview isnโt working for free
Weight room=most dangerous place on HS campus+most ignored. See tweets daily w/โif kids miss workoutsโ narrative..instead school boards/ADs/coaches should find educated ppl 2 conduct workouts & weight room. Wouldnโt let random ppl teach math/English so whys it okay in weight room
Some power cleans here.....
โItโs all the same stuff, same exercises ...โ
Iโm gonna create change. Raise the standard, complaining does nothing.
So much is made about speed.. when the game is really about your ๐๏ธ and your ability to decelerate and change positioningโฆ he sold this entire route with his head/eyes, before anything else took place. Looked the DB in the eye and killed him. Artwork
Hopkins has grown his skill into being one of the best in the world. What he does here is really crazy. Legit slows down while being pinned on the sideline to not only avoid the DB/going out of bounds, but also to fool the DB that the ball is already there
Had this discussion with
@BrennanMarion4
few days ago. Too many ppl put limitations on kids. A 2.5 GPA kid in HS can be a 3.5 kid in college now that he has a more stable enviro/has daily food/lights/etc. Many flourish in college bc itโs the first time theyโve had a normal life
One of the worst things DBโs do at camps; thinking they have to play press man every rep. Holding/grabbing/wrestling at the LOSโฆ play off man, play catch man, play open, crossover step, play off and use a leverage stepโฆplay press and really off-hand jam, quick jam, show skill
Reason Madden had a winning record in all 10 seasons, won a SB, had 100+ wโs; he was authentic/wanted each player to be authentic/individual for who they are.
Embrace your uniqueness in a world where everyone wants to imitate
Donโt suppress your creativity
Heard a HS coach tonight on a phone convo with a bunch of coaches say โif a kid gets corona we canโt have him miss practice bc other kids will panic and it will ruin our season. Just gotta tell him keep his mask on and act normal so he doesnโt spread itโ so disappointing man.
Amount of run that tweet got last night w/ Kris Richard yelling at Lee/Vander Esch w/so many trying to spin โthis is coachingโ narrative...I hope this gets same (should be more) amount of tweets / energy bc this is what coaching looks like. Players on the same level as the coach
Every 2017 guy who will sign tomorrow & this wk, CONGRATS. Please understand what it means, opportunity you have & make the most of it ๐๐๐๐
Jalen Ramsey posted this photo. Something stands out. Look at the reflection in his visor. Heโs not looking at the WRโs eyes/head/shoulders. Heโs focused on the DBโs hips/belt line. Heโs trusting his perception & letting it lead his movement
#BelieveWhatYouSee
#SeeingIsBelieving
No disrespect towards the kid bc itโs not his fault. This is the stuff adults praise. Happens at camps/events daily. This isnโt physical/isnโt skilled/not transferable. But itโs praised. I hope the coaches at the camp stepped in & taught skill instead of that congrats the kid got
If ur a player at any level there is a great lesson to learn from Andrew Luck; always have the courage to do whatโs best for u. Football is a great game, but itโs just that, a game..itโs not who u are. Be more. Donโt let football be your identity. Use the game, donโt let it use u
One of the best plays Iโve seen in a long time. Even when being pushed his eyes never drift from tracking the ball... he adapts off everything happening. Crazy crazy play
Best part about this fake tough guy act..Trent is the same dude who didnโt like when teammates would call him out about his performance. Same guy who 20 yrs later still trashed teams for not signing him. Funny how so many men can be tough w/kids, but canโt take it from other men
This is who heโs always beenโฆ did this as a HS coach putting his hands on a kid.. always had fake energy on TV.. as a player always thought he was something he wasnโtโฆ at some point just bc someone has a name in football & talks about faith.. doesnโt equal a good person
Far too many coaches, trainers & too many adult men forget....the only person who gets a kid an offer, is the kid. HIS film is watched/transcript is looked at. HE got himself the offer. An adult may have facilitated & passed the film/transcript on but no adult GETS a kid an offer
@ChattinKeith
Attitude that coaching is some hobby that should be done for free is nonsense. Doesnโt mean $ has to be what rules u but asking upfront what the $ is=simply good business, and coaching is a job/business. He shouldโve been told the $ long before he even showed up for the interview
Ridiculous thing about HS football; too many grown men/women act like the Wโs or Lโs of their kids HS team effects the adults lives in any way. If more parents directed that much attention towards their sonโs academics/grades the better off kids would be.
This is way beyond ridiculous now. Just tell defenders itโs a game centered around the offense. Throwing a dude out of a game for laying a legit hit as a DB is crazy. If you canโt do your job as a DB and drop an offensive player, then something has to give
Russ: too short
Deshaun: velocity was too low
Lamar: needs to be a WR
Skill comes in many forms. Itโs authentic for who that guy is as a player. All 3 arenโt trying to be anything more than be who they are, and all 3 are some of the best playing the game at any position
P2 is one of only a handful of legit shutdown CBs, ever. Many talk๐discipline but itโs really leading with & adapting๐. Connection between๐/hips, crazy. So many wouldโve had to speed turn. His๐never leave WR reading his hips entire time & then P2s hip snap, man.
#DBPerception
Just saw a mom arguing that her son deserves the scholarship offers another kid has bc her son has better stats. Parents/ATHs please understand your stats do not mean much or even mean youโre a good player. Many starters at one school may not even make the team at another school.
Ppl talk about 2nd chances, but they only work if u really want to change. Many ppl donโt. Tyrann Mathieu did. Kicked off LSU. Struggled w/substance abuse. Multiple injuries.. & he changed his life. Now a family man, community man & bc of that, a champion
@akorzo1
So I assume u then wonโt be playing theses kids on Friday night then?? These are kids. They are learning daily. College is their future. To say u wonโt speak about a kid bc he made a mistake completely disregards what HS is all about. HS is helping kids prepare for a future
Dawn Staley is one of the greats of all time as a player & coach. She has no prob speaking her mind, being authentic, and being herself. Success comes when you quit trying to be what others think u should be, and be yourself. Another National Championship
To all DBโs, being โphysicalโ doesnโt just mean not letting WR off LOS. โExtended armโ allows DB to feel WR trying to accel/decel, rise/sink & COD. Absorbing/adapting/controlling WRs movement/space. Perfect ex by Verrett letting EYES lead arms/hips while adapting/controlling each
For every adult/coach thatโs calls kids โsoftโ and โquittersโ โscared to competeโ for transferring.. let me remind you again, if Joe Burrow doesnโt transfer to LSU, he never wins a National Championship, Heisman, becomes the
#1
pick, or now goes to the Super Bowl.
@Meechie468
Donโt know u young fella, but prayers go out to u.. as disappointing as it might be, it means God has something even better than๐for u. Whatever that ends up being, go be great, & use your story to touch a lot of lives. Wishing you a ton of success where it matters most; in life
You guys w/ D2/NAIA/D3 even many FCS offers must understand your offer could be $400 book $ & be the 20th player at that position. On your OV u will find out exactly what youโre being offered. Make sure you know the complete $ amount of your scholarship & all details on paper
And when the boxing gloves come off, they will hold again as they were doing before the boxing gloves went on. Learning not to hold, is only done by having the option to hold, & being able to learn other solutions instead. Learning has to happen, in the environment itโs used.
๐ฆnever did a ladder drill, never ran around a bunch of octagon rings/cones, never did a 5-10-5...yet his real agility=off the charts..He trusts his๐. His๐lead every step as he decision makes/adapts off what he๐. He perceives to move & moves to perceive
This vid of Julio has been getting attention & itโs something that many donโt think about in their skill. Watching his film/studying his mvmnt he uses diff stride changes to manipulate DBs, He toys w/their๐, forces decisions to freeze, panic, open hips.
A few things 2018 guys/parents must know:
-D1 JUCO is no joke. Itโs D1 level athletes & can get u D1
-FCS/D2/NAIA could be a full ride or could be $200 book $ or any money % in-between
-D3 doesnโt give ATH scholarships. They put packages together with grant/aid/and many $ avenues
2018 guys; you better start loving the schools that love you & quit hoping for something โbetterโ bc this time of year the schools offering /setting up OVโs are..your.. options.. or another player will take that option away.
Things change fast when tackling dummies/cones/etc donโt stay still & actually move & suddenly your opponent is trying 2 find ways 2 also beat u. Too many times we see football players dominate bags/cones/drills & then it doesnโt transfers when things are live vs opponent in-game
Another ex; correlation w/o causation โjust bc NFL guy does X doesnโt mean itโs the reason heโs a great playerโ Whatโs the point of using that amount of weight & getting nothing out of it besides stressing joints/tearing body down. Also knees collapsing. But get RTโs so all good
Real talkโฆa lot of coaches will hype this up bc it will make them feel good about the coach titleโฆtruth is, this has nothing to do with him being a coach, or them being players.. nothing at allโฆ what this is, is a grown man, who cares about the young dudes heโs at round as ppl
After Kansas State's heartbreaking loss,

If we froze this play just at the beginning, many would scream; false step. This shows once again u canโt strip an ATHs ability to self organize in the moment. Devin trust what his ๐are telling him, makes his decisions and allows his body to move for whatโs needed in each moment
I keep seeing โthis is why we need HS footballโ tweets. Many w/narratives that many kids w/o it have nothing. Realize these same kids deal w/life issues DAILY even with football. Nothing is stopping u as a coach from doing everything u can to help kids daily. With or w/o football
Sean/his family deserve better. His jersey # retirement deserved to be announced a yr in advance, to be highly celebrated/promoted. He was murdered protecting his family. He was a great friend, loved his family & is missed.
He was one of the greatest who will ever step on a field
There will never be another Sean Taylor. The NFL is outlawing future versions. No more enforcers over the middle. That said, it was only a part of his game. He was such a talent. But no one else will be allowed to play like this again โฌ๏ธโฌ๏ธโฌ๏ธ
2021 guys, if a staff hasnโt been texting or DMโing you often, or with real substance, thereโs no need to visit their junior day. Go visit the staffs that are recruiting you. Junior day visits look good on twitter but if that staff isnโt recruiting you go visit the guys who are
2018 HS guys please understand right now/quit living in dream land. The schools u have now are ur options.These options can disappear if another kid jumps on it. Your grades are what they are good/bad bc what YOU did 9th grade until now. Good/bad results u can only blame yourself
What if I told you Skill was acquired by putting players in positions where mistakes could flow freely. That a mistake in practice really means improvement, so players can learn, problem solve, create solutions on top of solutions. ๐๐
Itโs an epidemic taught to WRs:
-Julioโs showing the WRs that โarm spin/swingโ so many do when they decel-breakdown-transition it allows DBs to๐ what is coming/gives it away
-AB explains too โentire stadium knows your going to breakโ
Why telegraph your decel/transition to DB
HS WRs: during offseason/summer camps run real routes. Not 5 double moves+spins
Also every adult at these camps: donโt praise 10sec โroutesโ & jump around trying to be a kids friend. Actually coach them. (Also take your๐off. No grown man needs to walk around all day w/ ๐ on ๐คฆโโ๏ธ)
Love thisโฆwe need more of this in Womenโs sport. Caitlin did this last game.. she is a killer, one of the best in the game & she knows itโฆ Angel is a killer, just won a ring & returned the favorโฆ.Love seeing personality & authenticity. Have fun & BE YOU
Perfect example here showing that itโs easy to dominate cones or objects that you donโt have to perceive and then act off of. Objects that donโt react/move...and how suddenly when you actually have 2 perceive, act, react, etc off someone else how quickly things change.
In a sport where so many have their plan of attack, Izzy is Izzy, bc his plan is to see what your plan is & then neutralize your efforts. He toys, he attacks, he uses patience, bc his plan is to adapt. Heโs true to his name
#TheLastStylebender
Notice Renfrowโs decel was no diff than his stride. Stride never changed until he decided to break. No giveaway/no telegraphing it to DB w/an arm swing or crossover. He just hit his accel, looked at the WR then looked downfield selling the go & into decel
Many will ๐ฃbad WR release off LOS; truth is this release works so many times pushing DB/forcing speed turn & WR creates space. This=great job by DB. Didnโt speed turn giving space, switched jam hands off WR mvmnt, didnโt back out -stayed square both directions w/ decel/mvmnt/๐
Every day we see 100โs of the same DB drills over & over. Understand, every DB is created equally different. Even their backpedal, should be seen, as part of THEIR skill
1. Have your DBs jog/walk backwards. See what is their natural backwards mvmnt/stride
No arm swing telegraphing his decel, no foot drag giving things away, no dancing at the LOSโฆmake DB think u are running to the EZ, every route will look the same until suddenly it isnโt. Itโs not about crazy drills.. itโs about creating/manipulating space
Actually it seems like heโs a legit good dude, who doesnโt try to be anyone else & isnโt afraid to be his authentic self as a person & player. One of the best in the league at any position. MVP candidate, great teammate, who enjoys having success & seeing his guys have success.
