In-game adjustments, guys putting in targeted swing work,
@bradaltomare
cooking up awesome INF practices, pitchers competing like absolute athletes, INF vs. OF comps, and
@ASwarty8
displaying some servant leadership. Boys brought it this fall and I can't wait for the spring!
At what threshold, if any, is there an inverse relationship between Effort Level and Contact Quality? Had an awesome lesson a while back and I wanted to share some anecdotal findings with y’all. Thread ⬇️🧵

Disclaimer: I absolutely do not think this should lead us to believe that we should not train maximally with the intent to gain BS. We can always use less effort when we need to if that helps our barrel accuracy. 80% of a bigger engine is still faster than 80% of a small engine.
Appreciate y’all reading through and sharing feedback. I know it’s dense and definitely long-winded so here’s a meme for sticking around. Hope it sparks some further conversation.
7.) In addition to constraint-based training, I would encourage implementing a schedule that operates under an volume-intent spectrum. I will return to this concept, but in the simplest terms, changing the volume of swings per round, rotation, or even day to manipulate the intent
During this climb, we used the Rapsodo to help us see which effort levels were producing the highest average EV’s while still monitoring blast to ensure bat speed was also steadily climbing.
It is important to understand what we are trying to accomplish with our training periods as this will help immensely with creating the proper training environment/coaching style.
A graphical representation of the theory would be this…at what threshold does our graph of bat speed and average exit velocity move from a linear pattern to potentially logarithmic or even hyperbolic pattern as a result of diminished flush contact.
The majority of hitters were producing their hardest hit balls around the 90% effort level. One hitter on the extreme was more successful at 100% effort.
