Instead of instructing players to "drop" & "get back" I created a game where for every player that is not back in the defensive 3rd when a goal is scored, it's an extra point. Attacking wise,it helps players recognise to counter quicker to score more.

Keep in mind recruits, you’re are able to join in on a D2 program’s practice. Use this in addition to camps/club/tournaments etc during the recruiting process 🤝
Interest from college coaches looks like a coach inviting you to a game, touring you around campus on a weekend, in-season and giving you football 🏈 tickets to a Power 5 conference game.
Or constant text/phone call communication.
Interest does not look like a generic camp
Advice to recruits. Entertain every opportunity regardless of division/location. It does not mean you have to commit because you talk to the coach but get to know more about the program/school/area to make an informed decision.
How I feel.
Women college coaches: “We’re done recruiting for 2034 and have offers out for 2035”.
Men’s college coaches: “We’re just starting our 2019 class”
😂🤣😂
🚨Recruits. Look around at the college soccer scores this weekend. There’s a top 25 that just battered their opponent 😮💨. To say “I want to play D1” is not specific enough. There are levels in divisions.
I think an underlying benefit of I.D. camps is exposing you to other players in different areas of the country that have the same goal of playing college soccer.
Usually players compare themselves to players more local but i.d. camps bring down the geographical barriers.
🚨Recruits, when going to these camps, introduce yourselves to the coaches. It goes a long way to helping a coach remember who you are.🤝
Any other tips for players from coaches??

🗣️High school players. Don't be discouraged if the offers aren't coming in at a school/conference/division you hoped for. You might have to take the scenic route, go to a different program, ball out & then end up at your dream school. Happens more often than you think ☝️.
⚽️Seeing a lot of college coaches recruiting from home/office. No travel, no expenses, no sitting in below freezing weather, more time with their family. Recruiting will not be the same post-pandemic. 🧑🏽💻☝🏽

🗣️High school coaches,If you can, film your practices asap. 📽️Who knows when players can play in front of college coaches🤷. An iPad will suffice. That way PSA's will have current film for college coaches to watch.

Interest from college coaches looks like a coach inviting you to a game, touring you around campus on a weekend, meals with the team, overnight stays, constant text/phone call communication.
Interest does not look like a generic camp email with your name C+P on top.
No news is
Volunteer assistants are overworked (expected to be there like a full timer) & underpaid (not on payroll, working club & camps) BUT hopefully on an upward trajectory to get a paid position. Having been one, I ask those that have been volunteer assistants, was it worth it?
Dead period extended for D1 but my words of advice to prospective student athletes are to control the controllable. Play at the best level possible, film your games, identify schools you like & majors that interest you, internship opportunities, to name a few.

Phone calls.
Invite to campus.
Request school application to be completed.
Request transcripts.
Invite to stay on campus overnight.
Request game schedule.
Asking previous coaches about you.
Official visit.
Texts.
Video calls.

If you want to play in college then you need to have game film, especially in the era of recruiting budget cuts, lack of games/tournaments & dead periods. Borrow an iPad, get a stand & get someone to film a game. No excuses. Don't blame high schools poor/lack of filming either.
I worked college soccer camps where the players of the soccer program worked them too.
Their schedule was like:
6am running 🏃🏽♂️😴
8am - 8pm summer camp. ⚽️
9pm lift. 🏋️♀️
🔁
College soccer is year around and a grind. Prepare accordingly and know what you’re getting into.🤝
Spoke to a D1 coach at
#MLSnext
fest who coaches for what I would call a glamour program. Said they got 1000 emails a few days prior to the event. I jumped all 1000 of those emails and got my player looked at. One of the many benefits of
@SportRecruitUSA
Freshmen, as you enter your first year, reminder!🤲 I have a player who didn't get much game time in their first fall but still impressed at practices etc. Then had a great spring & got a increase in scholarship. Patience, hard work & perseverance all paid off‼️☝️⚽️
#college
I remember taking a recruit around campus & we bumped into one of my players. I introduced them & said what are you up to? Player said I’m done with class so going to lunch. It was 11am. Training started at 5. Trust me recruits, you WILL have enough time to school & soccer. ⚽️☝🏽
Recruits. Remember that D3 can be competitive with their financial aid when compared to scholarship divisions. They can’t offer athletic scholarship but make up for it with academic scholarship
@D3Direct
@SportRecruitUSA
D2 academic scholarship on the left, D3 right.
#NCAA
I played every game In the fall and spring at D2, started ~90% of games. I had a great 4 years with my teammates. Choose a level that will challenge you AND where you can flourish at.
#college
#soccer
Go somewhere you have the potential to be an impact player. If that’s at a D1, great! D2, awesome! D3, perfect! NAIA, outstanding! JUCO, phenomenal! There’s only 4 years of college ball no matter how you slice it up. Go where you can make the most memories and have the best time!
FILM, FILM, FILM 🎥 Recruits, get film of your games & practices. 📱Create a highlight video of at least 3 minutes. Get highlights of you playing against multiple opponents & highlights that accentuate your skills in your position!
#collegesoccer
Good video call with ~25 high school soccer players the other night. Gave them and their parent/guardians valuable knowledge as they start or continue the recruiting process. 🤝 If interested, I can do the same for your club/highschool team.
#collegesoccer
I realised that in soccer the divisions were blurred in terms of ability when I played PDL (Now USL2). D2/D3 players were keeping D1 players out of the team. Or me being a D2 player saying why is he D3 when he should be in a higher division?
Over half of Americans don’t leave the state they were born in. It is a hassle relocating. In the coaching profession you know this is part of the job but at some point a coach will want stability in location. If you can help a college coach win then they will recruit you. ☝🏽💯
🗣️HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS⚽️. You'll now be battling for college roster spots with people in your class AND also have to hope college seniors don't stay otherwise scholarship dollars are tied up💸. Don't let that stop your dreams of playing!
🚨DM me your video for a free evaluation🚨
🚨⚽️Recruits.Remember you’re competing against players who were on the verge of going pro.I know a player who didn’t quite make it to an MLS first team so is playing college this fall. That’s the challenge. The market (college coaches) will dictate your level. Work to impact that.
Talked to a coach who was worried that boys going into Sophomore year were too late in the recruiting process. We have to continue to educate & let players know that there's a timeline but it's never too late. Option of schools will be impacted but you can play college soccer.
I think I.D. Camps are great to see how you fair against players from further a field. Typically you see players locally, in the same conference etc but I.D. Camps allow a player to see different talent with the same goal of playing college soccer.
Recruits, congrats on that offer 👏🏽 Now before it’s announced, call the coaches that were interested in you. Thank them and let them know you won’t be attending their school but you appreciate their time and effort 🤝
Trends I'm noticing in college recruiting:
Players tweeting about their offers.
Prospective student athletes(PSAs)thanking coaches for having them at their camp.
PSAs tweeting about being on campus
Coaches letting us know of a big time commitment
What else have you seen?👀
#NCAA
I think if more college coaches could, they would have recruited players (incoming freshmen) come In January (spring semester) instead of the fall.
Pros: ✅
1️⃣Player gets ~5 months on campus to acclimate to college life.
2️⃣ Gets a spring season ⚽️ under their belt to get used to
Love talking to college coaches that have been in the game for 20+ years 🙌💭. Recruiting then & now is so different. Word of mouth & being reliant on trusting coaches about PSA's. Relationship based recruiting will be more prominent for the foreseeable future.☝️

In life people say ‘No news is good news’ but in recruiting this is not the case. You want news, whether it’s good such as the coach likes your ability & wants you to visit campus or bad such as a coach saying we’re moving on with other recruits…
Planning a meeting for my coaches this week. What are some non-negotiable for you?🤔🤔
Mine are no lines, get everyone playing. Also, coaches don't play & join in. You had you time as a player, stand on the side and coach.
Be careful with the ‘Bet on myself’ culture. I know players who have turned down big scholarships&good schools to then not get the same offers down the road. Others have got 1 rejection & end up not playing at the level they should’ve. Listen to advice & make calculated risks.
Recruits. Make sure you ask how long you have to live on campus for. Based on my experience, typically off campus housing is cheaper. The difference in living on campus for 2 years compared to 4 years could be thousands 💵💸💰

Loved recruiting at the college level🙌. As we recruit way more than we actually play, I created a mentality of beating the opposition as I would as a player/coach💪(fairly, I might add☝️). Glad to be working in the recruiting realm with

What a conundrum I saw this weekend for coaches & goalies. Goalies playing a half per game bc the team has travelled two of them. If one goes down, you’re thankful for two but if not then gk’s get half of what they paid for. Tough situation, no right or wrong here.
#gkunion
🧤⚽️
Been asked a lot about i.d. camps lately. As a coach,I loved them as I got exposure for former programs & got paid.
For recruits,I like them if there are multiple coaches who make decisions on recruiting in attendance & multiple divisions there.
Anything to add?

My player got an email today saying “official offer” and his picture on it with a note. That’s what you call explicitly being recruited. No ambiguity about that.
@SRUSA_Official
When I get back I have to continue to stress movement & runs around the box to my players.
Watching an old game of Bilbao vs Barca (Bielsa vs Pep, two of my favourites) & this run really stuck out to me. The run was made prior to the player on the ball having full control.
🚨As recruits start to play in high school games etc. The message remains the same, get your games filmed!! Don't let that great pass/shot/tackle/save/dribble etc go to waste ☝️📽️🎦📲
🚨⚽️2021's & 2022's⚽️🚨
Exciting times as your season has started! (In Ohio at least).☝️You will NEED game film as college coaches are limited to what they can do recruiting wise. Get it filmed 🤝📹
Fascinating story. I spoke to a guy whose son wanted to play college soccer. He was able to get on an MLS academy team. At 15 the son moves 3 hours away from home. Is now on athletic scholarship at a top D1 school. Sacrifice!! It’s levels to this!
#collegesoccer
🗣️Student-Athletes! Even though this fall is different to the madness of a normal season, enjoy it! Embrace the difference as being a student athlete only lasts so long ⌛️👊
1st game,2 goals, can't score in one goal, lets move weakside to the other goal.
2nd game, extra point for moving the ball from one side zone to the far zone.
Tactically move ball w/s whilst finding forward passes.
Technically using back foot to open up.

If you're going to camps this summer, I advise checking if there will be multiple coaches/divisions In attendance. This is increases your exposure to coaches, programs and chance of being recruited.
⚽️ Recruits, the market will dictate your level. Take note of what schools are reaching out to you/at your games etc ☝🏽. The recruiting process isn’t perfect due to lack of time/resources, event schedules, club soccer.
@PremLeaguePanel
Can beat players for pace down the line but can still cut in. Inverted players do everything they can to get on their strong foot which is predictable.
Big week this week! Calls with current clients. Zoom calls with potential clients. Zoom presentation with a club team. Making the operation happen from a coffee shop by the beach ☕️🏝 .

🚨‼️ 15th June matters to 2025s as coaches can have conversations with you. For females it’s more important because they get recruited earlier (look at womens soccer program’s posts vs mens soccer). It doesn’t matter for EVERYONE though. Your time will come‼️🚨
🚨Signing Day is next month🚨2021 Recruits will be able to commit & sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) for D1 & D2 soccer programs ✍️📝Don't get left behind. DM me your video for a free evaluation to help you get recruited!!
