So the VAR, Darren England, checked offside thinking the onfield decision was "goal." It was a quick offside check because it was clear Diaz was onside, so he told the referee "check complete". In telling the ref "check complete" he is saying the onfield decision was correct.

On the basis of sex. There’s no room in this beautiful game for toxicity. It’s been difficult for women referees historically because we weren’t judged on abilities but gender when stepping onto the pitch. The pitch is an equalizing field. There’s no room for discrimination.

More clarification needed CONCACAF states sub requested b4 whistle. But in laws it’s not WHEN a sub is REQUESTED but when it OCCURS. So if sub doesn’t occur b4 whistle they CANNOT replace. FAQ concussion sub doesn’t have exception in penalty kicks. Getting IFAB decision.

Hey @minorfalcon - it is legal - feinting/stutter step on the approach is allowed but once their is a final movement (kick/swing) of the leg, that’s when it must be continuous with no feinting. This is legal. #NWSL

Before referees unionized, if refs had genuine complaints regarding fair compensation & safe work conditions, would be ignored or retaliated against with no protection. Standing up for what’s right wasn’t option. Today it’s possible for PRO referees. Need voice for others still.

We are not ok. The referee is a top notch, kind & professional person whose climbing the ladder to become a national referee. No one goes to work expecting to be assaulted when refereeing youth soccer. People in power need to help. Everyone’s leaving.

Literally for every quick counter attacking player whose been pulled down by a defender whose been beat to take away the quick counter & promising attack. Can’t wait to see that defender stop the pull b/c the punishment prevents the crime & we get some beautiful goals.

@worldsoccertalk @ESPNnl Respectfully, nothing else has been working. Spectators with racial slurs against players and no effective response & throwing items on pitch. Safety of everyone. Enough is enough. No one goes to their job and says it’s ok to have items thrown at them.

Sadly this is happening normally. Parents on my kids team applauding their daughter for intentionally elbowing opponent in chest b4 throw in. Other player stronger, faster & speedier. our team struggling keep up with her. Called them out on it. It’s BS. Unreal. U9G. Needs to stop

Today a U14G opponent player screamed at ref “You’re an idiot!!” after she was called offside. Their team parents laughed/cheered at that. She got a yellow, called ref stupid, & then got a red. Her coach was more upset with ref than her about it. I’ve never seen anything like it.

The guidance is to NOT announce team names just colors. As for describing reason for changing decision, will be short & simple. See FIFA WC announcements for guidance. You won’t hear the convo between VAR & Ref. #VAR

Ahhh so now people are interested in referee travel & workload… pull up a chair… this will be a long story… if you think traveling in Europe is excessive welcome to USA - mind will be 🤯. So way to fix this, onboard referee pipeline at youth level. Need more troops. It matters

Darren England and Dan Cook - the two VARs who made Liverpool offside mistake - had travelled to UAE to be officials in match there only 48 hours before Spurs game. PGMOL review must look at issue of possible fatigue.
