3 weeks ago, our dog, Mr. Carson ran off when his lead broke. We had given up on finding him figuring that coyotes got him, but we kept leaving food out just in case. At 3 am today, I heard his scared bark and ran outside. He was under the house, batking at trees, and bleeding.

Looks like he recently got in some kind of fight. I rushed him inside, cleaned him as best I could, poor guy is severely matted, and his ear is torn. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow because all the local ones are closed today.

The best I can figure out is during the day he was across the highway with some of the loose outdoor dogs and would come back at night and sleep under the house. He is resting now in his kennel, and I feel like a horrible pet parent.

Think I have decided. I will be dropping retirement papers next year for 2026. My body is tired, I am pretty sure my marriage will not survive another PCS, and my kids are thriving at their current school. Things might change.

Update: Mr. Carson has 1 laceration and lots of bruising around his neck. Because there are no punctures, the vet can't confirm an attack but wouldn't rule it out. He is currently shaved to the skin on mild pain meds and has to take antibiotics. He got a calming chew and a treat.

This shit has to stop. FCP are for deployments and major training rotations. Let your Soldiers, be there for their sick kids and spouses. Because when the balloon goes up, they won't be. It's not that hard to have the commander make their house their place of duty.

@LethalityJane WTF! Honestly, what are command teams doing these days. I only overrode a medical profile twice while in command and never one related to PTSD. Bitter experience as an XO taught me if a Soldier has a profile for 8hrs sleep you ensure said Soldier gets the sleep.

Every unit should have one. Too many units use the storage closet or the Women's restroom as the lactation room. At least this can be properly sterilized and provide an actual private location with amenities a mother may require.

Preparing to go pay for insulin out of pocket again. Thanks Tricare PCM for canceling household 6s insulin prescription and refusing to refer he to the Endocrinologist she needs/wants. endo that specializes Type 2 is not acceptable for a person with Type 1!

All three kids were diagnosed with strep. And, of course, Walgreens doesn't have their prescriptions ready. I have work to do from home and have to be in at 0645 to support breakfast for Soldiers PCSing. Tonight will be fun.

@MarchingWith7 @HangryValkyrie This is good. Honestly, I think it should be done more. Used to love bringing my dog to work. Also, I never made a big deal when one of my Soldiers had to bring their kid to work when I was in command. Even the couple that were truly unruly. Oh wait those were my kids.

As of 1600 yesterday, I am no longer a home owner. We bought in 2017 for 204k at 3.75% and sold for 297K. After repaying our repair investor and the commission, we netted around 40K in proceeds. Utilities canceled. Just have to cancel insurance.

Just heard from the family at the beach and the wife collapsed on the beach and needed a lifeguard to get her Ice, something sugary, and a chair. People if you have diabetic friends or family, please understand the effect the heat can have on them.

@AndreaG114 @svershbow I will also agree that the tax code doesn't allow for claiming disabled SO as dependents that isn't a spouse and is an oversight. Parents and children though are claimable as dependents under the tax code.
