Due to very unfortunate circumstances (this is private and personal so I'm not going to share exact reason at this time), I need to raise $3,700 by July 1st. It's an emergency and if I can't raise that, I don't know what I can do.
hey lovelies
I've been putting off asking for help because i feel like I don't deserve it. I'm in such a rut and drowning in bills. my disabilities have gotten worse, and I cannot afford to go to appointments anymore.

Ko-fi & GFM are below
Ableists tell me to โget a jobโ to cover my appointmentsโ costs but they donโt realize that I canโt get a job because I have 2-3 appointments during the week which makes companies not want to hire me due to my schedule.
Thatโs just one hurdle that disabled folks face when (1/6)
searching for jobs.
Many places have a job requirement of being able to lift 30+ lbs & I canโt even guarantee if I can lift myself out of bed let alone the extra weight.
Cashiers are required to stand and lift items all the time.
Janitorial staff have to carry heavy bundles (2/6)
I know that everywhere is hiring but theyโre hiring for positions that even healthy able-bodied people are burnt out or in pain from due to the intensive labor.
Companies donโt want to pay for my insurance. They donโt want to make accommodations/modifications. They donโt (5/6)
Disabled individuals are expected to work for their โkeepโ and every recommends that there are โjobs available at Walmartโ but they donโt realize how those companies donโt hire disabled people because we canโt even due half the job description without a modification. (4/6)
want to create irregular hours for us. Companies donโt want to employ disabled people.
To them, weโre a liability, more resource intensive, and/or not as productive as abled folks.
We canโt โjust get a jobโ, itโs not that simple.
This isnโt even the beginning of the issue.
(6/6)
of cleaning supplies/liquids and trash. Not to mention that being exposed to many chemicals flares my asthma.
Food service requires a lot of carrying, running around, being on your feet, and being speedy. I canโt even begin to tell you how inaccessible the food industry is. (3/6)
Iโm not going to get into the individual inaccessibilities of individual companies like how there is zero space for wheelchair users to navigate retail stores. Also, if we broke it down more into different accessibility needs for different disabilities need, this would be a novel
I saw a lot of other white people with "BLM" or "ACAB" in their bios who did absolutely nothing yesterday (juneteenth) to lift up black voices. So, here is a thread of black creators to follow and support so you have no excuse in the future.
(This is in no particular order)
Hi ๐ค๐ป
Iโm a queer, trans, intersex, disabled, & neurodivergent student, and Iโm trying to get a new wheelchair & top surgery in the next few months.
Iโm struggling to cover my medical bills and copays now, on top of trying to cover these costs
The interphobia on the timeline right now is very triggering. It's even worse when you're an intersex person of color.
Intersex people have always been here, and will always be here.
Y'all ignored us when we have been YELLING at you that this would happen.
๐๐
My mom just told me that it didnโt matter and not tell my cousins my name and pronouns. So literally that entire side of the family wonโt know and I will forever be misgendered and deadnamed.
Iโm crying right now very much not okay
Hey could we stop referring to PCOS as a womenโs disease?
There are men with ovaries, nonbinary people with ovaries, transmasc people with ovaries, agender people with ovaries, intersex people with ovaries, two spirited people with ovaries, etc.
I hate being misgendered everytime
This is a reminder that itโs not only pregnant people who pee a little when they sneeze/cough. Many people do because their pelvic floor muscles arenโt strong enough, they missed body cues that they need to pee, etc.
Itโs fairly normal!
Stop shaming people for bodily reactions.
Hi ๐ค๐ป
Iโm a queer, trans, intersex, disabled, & neurodivergent student, and Iโm trying to get a new wheelchair & top surgery in the next few months.
Iโm struggling to cover my medical bills and copays now, on top of trying to cover these costs
@T_llulah
@autieshawtie
trans mascs who were forced by their parents to have โfeminineโ & long hair
Black people who were forced to chemically straighten their hair because of school dress code policies
I could go on. all trauma is real & valid
thank you for speaking up & sharing๐
Hey yโall this is a reminder to check your commands/rules in your chat in case you may still have the words โbeanโ or โspookyโ in it.
I had โbeanโ in an entrance command & didnโt notice it until today.
โBeanโ & โSpookyโ are derogatory terms/slurs towards Latinx & Black folks.
This is a little reminder that you are allowed to access food banks, food pantries and other resources if you need it. Thereโs no need to feel guilty, that resource is specifically there for you. If youโve thought that you need it, or worry about access to food, then you need it.
By all means go forth & protest at the judgesโ houses, but do not expect disabled folks to be in harms way because they donโt have an escape root.
2) Please do not block ramps, curb drops, or elevator access when protesting. This is how we are able to go to & leave the protest.
@BeingCharisBlog
I can barely go to the doctorโs office (which i have 2 appointments at least per week) without the fear of getting infected and I have now had 3 appointments canceled in the past month because my doctors have been infected by their patients.
It is denying me access to my care
As you probably know, @/thegamehers was one of the groups that say theyโre โnon-binary inclusiveโ but refuse to change their name.
Now, theyโre also one of those groups that think of disabled folks as inspiration-porn.
We donโt live to inspire you. We are just trying to live.
1/4
For able bodied folks:
1) Make protests are accessible.
Protests in front of government buildings are usually accessible for wheelchair & cane users + public transportation.
However, protests at parks, monuments, houses, etc. are usually inaccessible to mobility aid users.
I have noticed that a LOT of people have given up on adding alt-text/image descriptions lately. I have also noticed that a lot of blind/visually impaired folks are interacting less and less in communities.
I cannot stress how important it is to make your content accessible.
8) Use your abled body as a shield for disabled folks. We are one of the first targets of police violence and have a history of our mobility aids being destroyed.
9) Have an interpreter for speaking events. Make sure the interpreter is IN view of the crowd.
10) Have captions
3) Blind and visually impaired individuals are still effected by tear gas. They need goggles and help washing it out of their eyes. Just because theyโre blind doesnโt mean it doesnโt hurt them.
On this note, kindly offer blind individuals help & a sighted guide to get to safety.
IโM GETTING TOP SURGERY!!
The new doctor looked at me and immediately said โyeah you need it and would live better from itโ
Iโm literally crying i am so so happy
Iโve been trying for over a two years now. That was the easiest and most comfortable appointment
๐ญ๐ฅน๐ญ๐ฅน๐ญ๐ฅน
Unless they are in immediate harms way, do not grab, force, push, or pull a blind/visually impaired individual. Youโre breaking bodily autonomy and how would you like it if someone did it to you?
4) For deaf and hard of hearing individuals, please offer them ear protection.
For disabled folks:
Do what you are comfortable with. You know your body the most. You know what you can handle and donโt be afraid to ask for help at protests if you need it.
For fellow white people that may be appalled/in disbelief by this,
@Imani_Barbarin
literally made a TikTok stating how Black disabled people will have the cops called on them for living their lives.
Bibiโs experiences are some of so many.
As a disabled Black woman, it's scary existing in public showing my disabilities. I don't use mobility aids as much as I should because I've been yelled at and had threats made against me. Because people felt I didn't deserve my mobility aids or felt that I didn't need them.
Like blind people, deaf/hoh folks have some residual hearing like frequencies/vibrations and police have tactics that can rupture ear drums.
5) Do not yell/scream to communicate with deaf/hoh folks. It does not help them understand you. Have a pen/paper to communicate with
Everyone send the best vibes you have my way please because today is my appointment to hopefully have insurance approve me getting a new wheelchair ๐ค๐ป๐ค๐ป
I slept 75% of today, and that is perfectly okay!
I took my meds when I was awake this morning and I have sipped water every time I woke up.
Itโs perfectly okay to not be productive and just rest.
People who think that disabled folks donโt have sex will be baffled by how my shower bench was broken last night ๐คญ
Disability aids come are accessible for everything for a reason just saying ๐โค๏ธ
Or subtitles on any videos you show.
11) Include disabled people in your graphics, media shares, posters, etc.
12) Finally just wear masks. Weโre immunocompromised already and donโt get us more sick.
Our rights were also taken away.
Individuals, especially in case police do show up with a sound cannon. This way you can communicate with folks that are temporarily effected with hearing impairment.
6) Do NOT push a wheelchair user without their permission. Again, unless you are saving them from immediate danger
They do not need your help. Simply ask folks of they need help or would like to be escorted in case they do run into an issue.
7) If the protest turns into a march, offer help or transportation for mobility aid users. We want to participate but can get tired very easily.
I am so glad this thread got traction and thank you all so much for sharing your stories/words of support. I read every single comment๐
I know a lot of people say they lie on their applications/interviews but I donโt have that privilege as a wheelchair user.
Jobs are ableist.
I was trying to tell them after their like other family members that I donโt know left and my mom asked me what I was doing and I told her and I quote โthat doesnโt matter so not nowโ and shoved me out the door with my sister (parents are still there)
To the 5 comments that are negative, I donโt need to prove to you that Iโm disabled. You are not worth my time or effort. Iโm sorry for the experiences youโve faced that have made you this negative.
Also, I literally show some of my bills how the heck am i faking my money needs??
1) The first has to be my wonderful sib Teona,
@tee_spoonie

Please for the love of gods make doors wider and get rid of metal 2+ inch lips/seals in the doorways.
Sincerely,
My elbows that have been bruised and wheelchair casters that hate bumps over 1 inch
This is just a friendly little reminder that if you are not disabled (or in some cases a parent of an infant) do not use the disabled stall for bathrooms or changing rooms.
I had to leave my wheelchair because two people were changing in the disabled stall of a bathroom.
Iโm really tired of groups/organizations claiming to be โinclusiveโ when in reality they arenโt.
Disabled people have been telling the media for years that weโre not here for your inspiration.
Itโs Disability Pride Month, instead of saying we โinspire youโ say โthank you for

This THIS with โspookyโ as I know many Black friends who are uncomfortable with the word due to itโs origins but whenever we speak up about people come out of the woodwork to say โit doesnโt mean that anymoreโ. BUT IT DOES literally in the south they still use the original way
4) I can't talk about black disabled creators without mentioning the amazing
@Tinu
Tinu is a wonderful disabled activist. She has tons of amazing threads to help the disabled community. She is a writer who you can support here:
Sharingโ. Tell us what youโre doing to make your space accessible.
I have barely seen them hype up disabled creators before this month. Disabled individuals make up over 20% of the population. There are so many disabled โwomen and non-binaryโ folks that you say you try to

Please be patient with content creators during this month. Some of us are still in school dealing with finals & schoolwork. Others have a hard time with the holidays. Some may have other jobs that are demanding right now. Maybe itโs all 3. Maybe theyโre just busy.
Pease be kind
@teonawrites
AYEEE!!! Welcome to the intersex club!!!
We got purple circles, purple roses, yellow backgrounds!
But seriously, yessss! A fellow intersex friend!!
represent. Yet, we donโt see that many folks.
They refused to listen to the agender, trans, non-binary, +, individuals who spoke up and begged them to change their name or to focus only on โwomenโ if they wonโt be inclusive. I doubt theyโll listen to disabled folks too.

6) It is the summer solstice and that means you should support fairies like
@fairyfatele
Fai is a wonder queer artist and streamer who plays a lot of cozy games! Check them out!
Yโall will say youโre โsafeโ or โopenโ spaces but then have derogatory terms/phrases in your panels, rules, or commands.
People of color have been giving you FREE education & none of you listen.
This is another call out so that you have no choice to not do it without being racist
This is not the most well spoken/well thought out thread that I have had but the thoughts and sentiments are there.
Stop saying buzz words like โinclusiveโ when youโre not and stop treating us like inspiration for you
This really shows you the priority of accessibility in Canada and for those that arenโt wheelchair users and think this is good? Itโs not
Itโs a roller coaster ride that most certainly would launch me into the wall on the right side if I donโt fall off on the left
Wheelchairs are essential in providing mobility and part of our efforts to increase accessibility, we are funding projects like this ramp at
@yaldei
.
#InternationalWheelchairDay
A lot of these talking points were used on me as a kid to say i didn't fit in with women (despite me literally starting getting boobs & hitting puberty before everyone else) and will now also tell me i am not masc enough to be trans masc.
We don't fit any binary system boxes.
GUESS WHAT ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!
Iโm so excited!!! I have a wheelchair!!! ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ
Thank you so much
@goldenlilyjess
I love you so much
Thank you
@Acer3752
for carrying up it up the stairs, opening and filming ๐ฅฐ๐โค๏ธ
@grassfay
@bibicosplays
Thank you for educating me, i did not know this one
I knew about sp~ (censored as some Black friends of mine are uncomfy seeing it) but I had no idea about bimbo!
I need to look up etymology of words more now
@HijaDe2Madre
literally at my partnerโs graduation, their parents got upset with me because i sat in the accessible section (in my wheelchair btw) & not with them cause they were a group of 4 & only one other guest was allowed in the accessible section & it literally said so on the ticket info
This is a fun reminder that Iโm not on/receiving any disability or unemployment help. The unemployment system in Illinois was (still is) a trash fire after I was laid off for the pandemic. I could never get through to service because the call was a 1000+ long waitlist.
Iโve had someone in the past threaten to try and dox my bank accounts to prove that I have money, and theyโd be really disappointed to know that I have ~30 dollars to my name in total.
Why do people think disabled people are lying when I literally show proof??
Generations before us shamed people for using food pantries and often ridiculed others for using them. Making these generations feel guilty or โnot poor enoughโ to use these resources.
You are welcome and allowed to use them.
Take this as your permission if you need it โค๏ธ
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Turtle took a covid test and was positive. So I took one, and Iโm positive.
We mask everywhere, literally donโt go out for anything unnecessary, we quarantine, we make every public interaction quick as possible.
We made it three years until now.
10) most people know Tanya, but
@cypheroftyr

We are AT LEAST 2% of the world population (same as green eyes). Some donโt even know theyโre intersex.
Celebrate & Help Us.
16) I've gone too long in this thread without talking about Shantilly
@shantilly_t
is honestly so talented why don't you follow them already? They just recently started streaming here:
Hey please ACTUALLY check in or your queer, trans, bipoc, and/or disabled friends right now.
We have to look after each other and a lot of us feel isolated, unsafe or overwhelmed.
This is one of the most stressful times of year with school/work combined with everything else.
Chronic fatigue folks, what do you do to combat the fatigue? I am so tired of feeling tired and I have no energy anymore. Iโm willing to try everything
I just want a small amount of energy, just a teaspoon please

11) I can't mention black and queer streamers without mentioning
@iamBrandonTV
Brandon plays a lot of horror content and is absolutely hilarious!
Check him out:
So
@thegamehers
literally shouted out Symmetra as a disabled character, & didnโt even say her diagnosis. I canโt even lie about this.
Not only have they not shouted out any other disabled streamers since my thread, they canโt even correctly highlight neurodivergence.
As you probably know, @/thegamehers was one of the groups that say theyโre โnon-binary inclusiveโ but refuse to change their name.
Now, theyโre also one of those groups that think of disabled folks as inspiration-porn.
We donโt live to inspire you. We are just trying to live.

Not our town sending us a notice that our grass is too long and we could be FINED OR IMPRISONED for the length of the grass if we don't comply?? Meanwhile my partner and I are both too depressed/affected by heat to cut the grass and nobody will get BACK TO ME ABOUT LAWN SERVICES
Being disabled and chronically ill while trying to navigate through an inaccessible world on top of being part of other minorities is so mentally and physically exhausting
Iโm a

and watching Twitch never do anything for Disability Pride Month hurts my soul.
Please take a moment to upvote Beeโs amazing uservoice so that disabled creators can finally have their spotlight๐
I made a uservoice to encourage

I'd appreciate your vote here เณโโท

12) An absolute stunning black deaf creator is
@itscharmay
she makes BASL(Black ASL)/ASL content and is absolutely iconic with her intro and outros to her videos
Watch her here:
@QueerlyBee
My favorite quote is by
@Shelbizleee
(she's not active on twitter anymore) and it's "you cannot do all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can do." which has the same sentiment!
To top off this procedure process, the doctor doing it saw my wheelchair, looked me in the eye and said โthere should never be a 22 year old in a wheelchairโ.
I hate it here
