Thanks @NAT_AIDS_Trust for clarifying the medical facts. 1) #HIV transmission risk from discarded needles is extremely low. 2) When antiretrovirals are needed for #PEP it is only a 4 week course. 3) #HIV can be detected by blood test from 4 weeks after exposure.

Can @DailyMirror please clarify that you can get a reliable HIV result after one month, not six. Also risk of HIV from a needle injury is extremely low and medical guidance does not recommend PEP in most cases. If you do go on PEP it is a one month course of anti-virals

Every week in London, 15 gay & bisexual men are diagnosed with #HIV , yet councils have only accepted a 60% increase in #PrEP trial places. Outside London, access in England is still patchy. @MattHancock please help us to help our patients & prevent HIV transmission.

This is an excellent step in the aim to 1) Challenge #HIVstigma and 2) Challenge #HIV misinformation. We know those on effective treatment can live long healthy lives. Let's hope other travel insurance companies amend their policies to match the evidence!
