Three kids from from Waterford had their night made when they met goal hero Jake Morris. He heard how far they travelled and gave them his jersey.
Class act from class player.

All-Ireland hurling semi-finals on this weekend but little or no promotion of games by our National broadcaster RTE.
Given the National interest surely a preview show tonight Friday with managers, players and journalist input to set the scene and wet the appetite 🤷♂️

For 99% of GAA Players a county final appearance is a year if not lifetime highlight.
It’s not grey, dull or grand. It’s purple n white, blue n gold, blood n bandages.
Very few get to rise the steps of Croke Park. All dream of county final glory.
I really hate this “my sport is greater than your sport” rubbish.
Neil Francis ignores the fact that 2/3 of Irish Rugby Team went to Private Schools.
To wear a GAA county jersey you just need to be good.
🚨Nice Story Alert🚨
Grabbed a take-away coffee and muffin earlier. Card wouldn’t work
Had to go to ATM to get cash.
When I returned to coffee shop with cash I was told person behind me paid the €6.35
To this anonymous Good Samaritan, thank you. 👏👏👏
I hope the achievement of Waterford minors yesterday doesn’t get lost in the hullabaloo that followed in the senior game.
Kiely and Fives the heroes with big contributions from Chris Kavanagh, David Byrne and Aidan Organ off the bench.
Brilliant result.
A complete review of everything concerning Waterford hurling is long overdue.
From bottom up and top down.
A result like tonight’s U20 , 22 point drubbing is a sign of further regression.
By the time you realize you are in a Crisis you may have already lost a decade.
Waterford have been a top 4, top 6 Hurling county for the last 20 years and the failure to develop a fit for purpose county grounds is an indictment on successive Waterford GAA County Boards
Interesting comments by Michael Duignan on the 2019 GAA Player Development Review Report in yesterdays Mail on Sunday
Best for kids U12 and younger to take part in Blitz or Multiple-game structures than over-competitive single game All-County underage championships or leagues
What a week for Waterford hurling.
Minors reach first Munster final since 2014 and Seniors back into All-Ireland semi-final, second in successive years.
Congrats to all involved 👏👏👏
Brilliant to have the Munster championship back at Walsh Park yesterday.
Great occasion, great result for Waterford.
Yesterday also highlights the need for the redevelopment of Walsh Park to be completed as soon as possible.
Div 1 hurling County needs a venue to match.
Glad Iggy has finally decided to concentrate on his club football career
I remember him playing when he was so small he couldn’t even touch the crossbar with his Hurley.
Didn’t he do well.
#Congrats
Kildare GAA’s success on home game in Newbridge makes Waterford’s decision to play ‘home’ games in Limerick and Thurles even more curious now.
Tony Browne is right.
TONY BROWNE: We’ve been too nice in Waterford, and we’ve paid the ultimate price
When someone says “I don’t mean to be snobby” , You can be certain that’s exactly what they are just about to be.
For the record one the most intelligent hurling person I know is Tony Brown
( no degree, never played Harty Cup or Fitzgibbon, hurler of the year 1998)
Tipp v Kilkenny in minor All-Ireland
Venue ??
Would be a cracking atmosphere in a packed Walsh Park 🤔
The 1982 & 1983 All-Ireland U’21 finals between same opposition was played in Walsh Park

Dick Clerkin? Wouldn’t be depending on him to champion the cause of GAA Kids - “10 year olds have no place at All-Ireland finals”

Limerick GAA are coming under pressure to reduce the cost of a one-off jersey following criticism of the €150 price tag associated with it. ✍️

“An 8-year-old has no business at an All-Ireland final “- Dick Clerkin
My greatest memory as a child is attending the 1984 Munster hurling final with my father at age 10.
Kids should be encouraged to attend big games including All-Ireland’s.
Inspire the next generation
Played against Tom Kiely in the ‘92 Munster Minor hurling final which Waterford won after a replay.
A top-class mid-fielder.
Really sad news at such a young age.
Condolences to his family, and friends
CLUB DEVASTATED AS WE MOURN THE LOSS OF OUR GREAT FRIEND, TOM KIELY, RIP..
We are saddened and indeed devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Tom Kiely, a friend, former player and loyal supporter of Colligan GAA club..

Given announcement by the Government today perhaps the Gaultier v Brickey Rangers SFC Q/F fixture should be switched to Walsh Park (capacity >5,000) which would then allow double an attendance of 200 instead of 100🤔

Today was a remarkable day for our young hurlers. Not only was it the first competitive hurling game in the school in quite a few years but they capped it off with a fantastic win. 4-10 to 3-3 vs Marist Athlone. Congrats lads and mentors Mr Sheridan & Mr Garvey
@OfficialLDGAA
Both Offaly and Dublin fielding amalgamated Secondary School teams to compete at ‘A’ level Leinster hurling competition
Surely something Waterford GAA should be encouraging to allow more schools participate at ‘A’ grade
Anyone present in Cusack Park Ennis today could see the importance of home venue in the new Munster championship format.
Waterford being without a suitable home venue puts them at a significant disadvantage (senior and minor).
Interesting to see Tipp have voted overwhelmingly in favour of retaining their underage structures at U12/U14/U16/U18(Minor) and U21 in direct opposition to Croke Park recommendation.
Also great to see County Board embracing Social Media to live tweet Convetion details.
At the December meeting of the Kilkenny Co Board this evening in UPMC Nowlan Park, the Board voted to adopt the following age grades for the 2024 competitions: u-14, u-16 & u-18 plus u-21. U-18’s will be eligible to play adult GAA games.
I reckon the Tipperary football jersey will be added to many a Santie list after today.
Great to hear manager David Power pay tribute to the many who contributed against the odds to the promotion of football culminating in today’s senior Munster Football Title.
👏👏👏
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Did he even touch him ?
St Thomas player Didn’t raise elbow …… KK lad dropped as if he was dead …… miraculous recovery after red card?

Ps If it wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity then Shane Kingston wouldn’t have been rugby tackled to the ground
Such tackles need to be removed from the game.
Penalty and 10 mins in sin bin is appropriate punishment and will alter player’s decision making in such instances
Tyler gave the refereeing performance of 2019 in the Munster U20 hurling final
Great to see the young Waterford man getting another high profile game today.
Best of luck.

co board to follow, premier intermediate would raise standards for co in the long term.Premier intermediate in Cork,Limerick and now Tipp
Chairperson of CCCC citing Waterford as an example of precedent for their decision to switch Kildare’s ‘home’ game v Mayo to Croke Park 🙄
It should be noted that it was the Waterford County Board that ruled Walsh Park out as a venue for Munster championship not CCCC
Statement victory by Waterford today.
Real good game.
Prunty, Lyons, Barron, Prendergast and Patrick Curran all excellent.
Fagans goal the match winner.
2 week break now till Waterford play Galway away in round 4
Re Harty Cup (Munster Secondary Schools A Hurling)
Waterford GAA should aim for 3 school teams competing at A to include
- East Waterford U19 Schools
- West Waterford U19 Schools
Probably more imaginative names available
Surely this is both desirable and possible 🤷♂️
Waterford Well beaten today but really having No ‘Home’ venue is a major disadvantage
It’s not just Waterford having No ‘Home’ venue is the problem but more the fact that all other counties have benefit of 2 Home games.
@TheSundayGame
Waterford County Board shouldn’t bother convening a ‘Selection Panel’ to recommend a new Senior Manager
Sean Power and his management team prepared another U21 team (void of senior stars) to produce a top class performance characterized by commitment, hard word and style 👏
Ok I’m no epidemiologist or any other type of ologist.
However , Apparently it’s safe and sound to have 30 kids in a classroom Indoors 5/6 hours a day five days a week but not safe to have kids in groups of 15 to play sports Outdoors?
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

The last time Ian Keatley started for Munster in Champions cup against Leicester he was jeered by a section of crowd, masterclass tonight,

Great bounce back win by Waterford minors.
Much improved tonight.
Knock-out hurling suites them.
Players throwing the ball is now out of control. Mostly Limerick players (but both teams guilty).
Referee penalised most of them.
It will cost a team dearly before year is out
Hand pass = clear striking of the ball with the hand
The clue is the word ‘clear’
Why are so many players just throwing the ball and risk conceding a free 🤷♂️
BREAKING NEWS: The management committee of Tipperary GAA have made the decision to relieve Colm Bonnar from his duties as Tipperary senior hurling manager.
Nonsense from GPA ……
If the inter-county players are so united why can’t they just agree that no panel of players will participate in more than 4 collective sessions per week🤷♂️
Simple really.
Heartening second half display from Waterford minors.
If Waterford can put 60 mins together of that quality they’ll win games before the year is over
Well done 👏👏👏
Shane Power De Le Salle was outstanding all through
'What a day for Déise hurling, what a day for sport!'
An díochas, an diongbháilteacht, an paisean...a leithid de chluiche!
'I LOVE ME COUNTY!'💪

Latest Irish county table
All counties at single-digit growth, except Tipperary.
Counties with zero new cases:
- Leitrim
- Sligo
- Galway
Sligo has now gone 3 days in a row without a new case.
Waterford, which had gone 3 days without a new case, registers one new case.
We did two episodes earlier this year on the roots of the current conflict in the Middle-East. Thank you to all who have messaged to say how useful they found them for understanding what is happening today.
If you haven't heard them, the links are below 👇
I bet many coaches, parents and members haven’t heard of the GAA Code of Behaviour …… never mind being directed towards it by their Club …. or heaven forbid read it 🤷♂️
Club houses and dressing rooms used to have the All-Star posters pinned up when I was growing.
Would love to see hard copies of All-Star Poster distributed to all clubs and schools.
